Summary: no particular problems
Review: VERRRY slow to recognize whether you've fed it a DVD, CD, or MP3 disc. When I got this, I had planed to toss my 12-year old JVC audio CD player to save space, but this unit loads so slowly that I kept the JVC out and hooked up, and still use it in preference to this unit for audio CD's. However, picture and sound quality are excellent, unit is about 2 years old and going strong.
The MP3 disc capacility has not been all I'd hoped, even though I really selected this unit for this feature. The video display of filenames only shows the first 14 characters of the file, which is really not sufficient for the way I do my filenames ("1969-02-27 b06 The Eleven (Part 1).mp3"). MP3 also has a technical problem with playing continuous tracks, like live music, a lot of what I listen to, so I use OGG Vorbis which is non-commercial, duty-free, and much better at handling continuous tracks. (WMA is also better than MP3 on that score, if you enjoy DRM.) But in fact, the unit won't play MP3 tracks continuously anyway. These problems combined with the slow loading, and I've hardly used the MP3 feature. If somebody would get this feature right, I should think it would go over big, because you can easily put 8-10 hours of music on a single disc!
