Summary: do not buy this unit
Review: After reading all of the reviews, I have to sum up that this DVD player is junk. I own the GE1105P and have had nothing but problems with it. It will play one movie (sometimes) but that's all your going to get out of it for a night. The next movie will start freezing up, usually about halfway through when it switches levels. But two nights ago, my player started messing up on the first movie.We had to get a hair dryer and blow cool air into the door to get it to finish the movie.

Review: I bought this GE 1105p dvd player from Fry's. I did not get a chance to try this junk in the first month because my old TV just can only hooked up with a coaxial cable. I bought a big HDTV month after that and began trying this DVD player, but I was so disappointed because this player only could play some kind of DVD and I almost got it freezing and skipping in half way. The quality of picture is so terrible, it's kind of green. Can't return for a refund. Feel being cheated.I would never buy this brand ever. It's really a juuuuuuuunk. !

Summary: A different player...
Review: I did not purchase the GE1105 but the GE1106. I have nothing to say toward this model, but I have something to say toward the GE1106. The GE1106 exhibits fine picture and sound quailty that is offered even in the 1000$ models. But there was some slight problems toward my player. Each time you play a movie, the movie freezes for one second then it stops. IT does this about once maybe twice if you play the movie. Nothing major, but it gets annyoing after awhile. You should call the GE service for ways to delete this error. But in order for a player to work it should be taken care of very good. If you unplug the Dvd player and then plug it back up, and it doesn't read the disk, its normal. But you shouldn't unplug it unless its an emergency like, a storm coming. You should also use a damp rage that has water in it, and lint free to clean the outside of the player. These are some tips in order to keep picture and sound quality at its highest peak. GE has not found perfection toward their players I recommend this, but you can get more for your money. GE is a huge improvment over Oritron. Believe me.

Review: i dont know what some of those guys are talkin about but this player is actually very good...those problems with green screens and skippin has to do with bad connections and not cleaning the set....anyways this dvd player does good and can play a lot...just remember to take care of your stuff along wit it.

Review: I purchased the same model (GE1105) DVD player by General Electric. After only two months, and having used it no more than 10 times, my DVD's started skipping, until it got to the point where it just wouldn't play it anymore. My mother purchased the same exact model at the same time I did, and she herself is having problems with her GE DVD as well. I tried checking out reviews after this happened, and no reviews on GE DVDs are available. After this experience I do not recommend this GE model DVD. This is the first GE product I've purchased and the last I plan to buy from GE.

Review: In my opinion this is a midrange dvd player. I actually own the 1105P it plays all my movies and all that I have rented. I would have to say that it is very picky about the dvd disk surface. Most movies I rent need to be cleaned or the player skips or just freezes, but after I clean them they work fine. It also will not play any of my cdr's or cdrw's that I have made with movies on them.
