Summary: Good dvd player, most of the time.
Review: This dvd player is cheap for a reason. You get what you pay for. Most of the time this player works fine. But sometimes the picture will cut out and give you just a blue screen. You can sometimes just tap the machine and it comes back on, other times you have to stop the movie and open the tray just to get rid of the blue screen. Luckily this doesn't happen that often. If you don't have a lot of money to spend on a dvd player, go for it, but if you can spend more i would recommend something on the higher end of the scale.

Summary: Be Careful.
Review: The hardware of this product is fine, except for the very loud noise the mechanism makes during playback. At low volumes, or during pauses in the action, I could hear the squeaking of the mechanism from across the room. The real problem of this DVD player, however, seems to lie in the software. After playing only one DVD and one audio CD, it froze up once, hitched twice, and powered itself off as the audio CD was detected. I kept it around another week because of the 90 dollar cash rebate from best buy, but by then it had powered itself off and/or locked up multiple times as audio CDs were inserted, and had to be unplugged and plugged back in to make it work again. It felt like the software was FULL of bugs, where certain combinations of actions caused it to freeze up. The user interface looks very cheap too. Obviously not much effort went into its design. Furthermore, even when the darn thing worked, the remote control needs some serious human engineering. The eject button is right next to the play controls, which I accidentally hit a couple of times when trying to press 'pause'. When that happens, you lose your place in the movie. I mean, it's not like the lights are on when I'm watching a movie. Also, the batteries jiggle around in their poorly fitting plastic holder. I returned it while I could, and bought the cheapest Sony around, and it performs flawlessly.

Summary: Player did not perform very well
Review: I purchased this player because it was the only one I could find that had an RF adaptor to hook up to my old TV. I have purchased some RCA products in the past and had no problems. That was not the case with this DVD player. After having hooked up the player it ran about 10 minutes and lost picture and also had distorted sound. I left it sit for about a half hour and tried it again with the same results, no picture and distorted sound. Some people have had good luck with this player but I DID NOT. It was returned the next day for a Magnavox. I have only had the Magnavox for about one week but so far no problems.

Summary: ONLY model that will work with ANALOG tv (coax. input only)
Review: Many people are busting on this player. I've only had mine for 1 week, and it's been flawless. I offer 2 ideas about it. 1) players made back in q3 of 1999 might be a different batch than those available now. So, some improvements may be available now that were not in this model last year. 2) this player has a RF adapter, so that you can play it directly into an analog tv. I bought the converter at a local store, and it works great. So, now, I don't need to buy a new T.V.

I hope it keeps working this well, but for saving me the need to buy a new T.V., there was a significant hidden savings in this player. It's the only one I could find that had this feature.

It played the Matrix, etc. without a hitch this weekend.

Summary: Great Value!
Review: I've had my player for about 6 months without no problems. In fact, I have it hooked to a mini component that features Dolby Digital and it works great! It's very easy to setup and has a better look than other expensive players.

Summary: Fantastic player at a great price
Review: I've had my DVD player for over 5 months and it has performed flawlessly even considering my 8 year old daughter uses it daily and plays her CD's out of it too. One can spend a few hundred more for a DVD player but bear in mind you will not recieve a better picture/sound regardless of price, just a bunch of whistles and bells.

Summary: Easily put, it's a good DVD player
Review: I read some of the other reviews, and I was shocked to hear what types of problems they have had with their RCA DVD. I've had mine for 8 months now, and I have not received any errors or technical problems at all. It hasn't had problems reading high end discs like The Matrix, and as for over heating, well mine still has to get excedingly warm first. For the price this DVD is probably the best out there, but it doesn't have all the bells and whistles some of the other ones have. My advice is, if you are looking for a DVD player and you are on a budget, then this is your machine, but if you can go with a better model, do it.

Summary: Great Buy for the Money
Review: Works great. No problems. Incredible picture when hooked up to 31 in Panasonic with Super Video capability. No regrets.

Summary: Great Player!
Review: I don't know what the other people are talking about! I've got the Matrix as well as have rented A Bug's Life and they both played without a hitch! They were very smooth, great sound, crisp picture, and every option on each movie works flawlessly. I saw someone say that this system doesn't play VCD's, but I've had it play a couple with no problem. The only drawback to this system is it won't play CD-R's, but that's ok, since I only own one and am not too big on them.

Summary: Excellent player for the price
Review: I've had my RCA DVD player for about 1 year now and have had no trouble at all. I have noticed that it seems to get hot after a long while of use with the glass door shut, but that could just be all the other components in the stack. I keep the door open now and it stays cool. When I was looking for a player, I was informed that RCA players had trouble reading dual and quad layered discs(like Matrix), but it has had no trouble.(maybe he just wanted to sell me one for a higher price? ) I bought RCA partly because my TV and VCR were both RCA. It is a great DVD player for the money. All the other brands are very pricey and don't offer that many more features. By the way, mine will not play CD-R music discs...Just in case you were wondering.
