Rating: Summary: Piece of Junk Review: This player is fine for DVDs and CDs but forget about mp3 playback or CD-Rs. On CD-rs the treble is all muddy, but the discs play fine on my other players. Mp3 playback is terrible, there are skips and garbled sections during playback but the files sound fine on a computer using Winamp. Not recommended.
Rating: Summary: VERY DISAPPOINTED Review: I bought this DVD player because it had received so many good reviews. I am VERY disappointed with this machine. Only six months after I bought it, it became completely inoperable. I couldn't turn on the power at all and one of my discs was stuck in the tray. I now have to pay ...[money]to get it fixed - I should have just bought a new DVD player (NOT a Toshiba)!!...
Rating: Summary: Hungry DVD Player Review: After the first day, the DVD player turned off and would not turn back on. It also ate my DVD. I called Toshiba...they said I'd have to get it repared under warranty. Blah! I returned it to Amazon, and they are giving me credit for the DVD player and the DVD. Go with another DVD player!
Rating: Summary: Broke down after a couple of months of very light use Review: I got this for my mom's birthday in February. By end of March, it stopped working. When we tried to take it to the manufacturer, it cost [price] for them to take a look at it and was supposed to cost [price] to fix. Keep in mind that this is WITH warranty. Since the whole thing cost [price], it seemed ridiculous to spend [price] to fix it. So my mom is now looking to buy another DVD player and I vowed to never buy electronics as gifts again :)
Rating: Summary: Great for 4 months then Pfttttt Review: I researched a long time to find the name brand and the options I wanted. This Toshiba gave me component video with a beautiful picture, 4x zoom, played CD-RW, CD-R's, MP3's etc. It was a breeze to hook up, played relatively quietly and I was extrememly pleased with it. Then just after three months the display started to blink off, no problem it still played wonderfully. Then a couple of weeks later the sound just started going on and off. I took it to the official Toshiba repair site and was informed it was a problem with the power supply. The replacement part costing [price] would be free but labor would be [price] not including tax since it was past the 90 day warranty. When I said I could buy a new one for that price and it would most definitely be a different brand I was informed it wouldn't matter that basically they're all the same inside. If that's true one might as well buy a no-name for less since the Toshiba name evidently means nothing when it comes to quality. So, either you get a dud or you don't, it's the luck of the draw.
Rating: Summary: ...Power Unit Defective on Two Separate Units Review: This product is a piece of [junk] and Amazon should not be selling it. I ordered one a couple of months ago. Within a day it had died. I (foolishly) had it replaced with a second one...This one lasted two weeks and then died. I find it...is clearly defective.
Rating: Summary: Easy, intuitive, impressive Review: My siblings and I purchased this DVD player as a Father's Day gift. Dad enjoys technology, but doesn't like wasting a lot of time messing with wires and figuring things out. Luckily, setting up and using the SD2710 took no effort and we were watching a movie in minutes. The interface is easy and inuitive and the simple remote is much better than most Toshiba products. Kudos to Toshiba for this excellent product.
Rating: Summary: believe all the good stuff said about this one Review: for those of you with critical comments on the remote, get over it. I have no issues there. the sound and color settings are simply great, black is BLACK!! with this player, and even though I own a decent surround sound system, the sound settings on this unit do improve the quality. no problems programing so far (I'm sure theres more toys I have yet to discover) And of course, it never fails, I purchased it on sale so now its on clearance for less money! At the current price, you connot possibly go wrong!
Rating: Summary: POS Review: I just recieved the Toshiba 2710 today. Hooked it all up. Put my DVD in the player. I watched a minute of the previews and then it stopped working. Went to Radio Shack to see if it was the connector that was malfunctioning. It wasn't the connector. I'm sending back this piece of junk tomorrow. I could not get my DVD out since the power never came back on. [....] What a piece of garbage this player is. Needless to say I'm EXTREMELY dissapointed. Buyers beware , there is a reason this POS is on clearance!
Rating: Summary: Stay Away - Unit Died - Not Even 4 Months Yet! Review: This Toshiba 2710 worked great for almost four months. Now the unit has died completely trapping my disc inside the machine. The 90 day warranty is over and I will most likely have to pay for labor after bringing it to a service center. What a piece of garbage. Never buy Toshiba again!
