Summary: Excellent DVD Player
Review: After much research, I bought this DVD Player (DVD-RP62S), and I haven't regretted it. It is an excellent DVD player for the money. Plus, it plays all the format's including those beat up DVD disks from the rental store. Some other brands won't play disks with even minor damage. The picture quality is outstanding, and the player is easy to set up. I highly recommend it.

Summary: a great payer with one small problem
Review: After trying out several different brands I finally settled on Panasonic DVD-RP62S. This is a great player with all the features that you might possibly need and the performance is superb. I won't say any more than that as other reviewer have heaped enough praise on it already.
BUT, guys, could you make the buttons on the remote any smaller?! I mean you need a microscope to see them! And I'm talking about the buttons that get used a lot, like STOP,PLAY,PAUSE etc. This just drove me so nuts that I was going to return the player. Thankfully, my TV remote has friendly large buttons and I'm using it to control most DVD playback functions.
I've checked out some other Panasonic models and several of them have the same remote with the same tiny buttons. I just can't understand why it is done this way. None of the other DVD brands have this problem.

Summary: looks good, but it might break too soon
Review: I bought a Panasonic DVD-RP82 - really nice progressive scan performance. At the nine month mark it stopped working - error code H02. Do a google search - there are as many hits as you want to read about this failure in many different Panasonic DVD players. If the RP56 has the same mechanism (it is some sort of mechanical/motor failure) it will probably fail also.

Summary: Breaks after 1 year-You have been warned
Review: I bought this model (DVD-RP62S) in Jan 2003. Today it came up with an error "H07". Do a Google search on "H07" "Panasonic" and see how many people who have bought several Panasonic DVDs and after 1 year have this error come up. I expected more from them! My friend's cheap $30 off name dvd player is still running after 3 years. I will not be purchasing another Panasonic until they fix this motor problem.

Summary: One of the 1st that plays Mp3's random
Review: I bought this on Fri and love it. It is one of the first players that plays mp3s randomly. (Push random button 1st, then play button next.) You can also search through the mp3 song, which alot of other mp3 players cannot.
The menu for the mp3 is excellent. You can take your favorite group, create folders for each album, and then burn them all onto one CD...and the Panasonic DVD player will group the files as folders. Its obvious there was alot of thought that was put into the MP3 process. Something that has been lacking with other companies.
The dvd has been good. The usual good picture and sound. Remote is no big deal. Its useful.Drawbacks-
You cannot change to random mode mid playing. You must stop cd first
Macrovision and cannot change regions
No DVD-audio or SACD
When mp3 or cds are playing, it would be nice if it had a screensaver type mode with different images.

Summary: The small buttons on the remote do not bother me at all
Review: I bought this player for Christmas this year and so far have been very impressed with the sound and picture quality. I've played 4 different DVDs entirely so far and have had no problems with any of them. As this is my first DVD player after years and years of VHS I'm still awestruck by how much better the picture is. I bought this player mostly based on the Panasonic name and the high review ratings posted by others, and the only complaint I saw repeated was the buttons on the remote are too small. Well, they are small, but I don't have any problems pressing them, and the size doesn't bother me a bit. I don't have a progressive-scan TV set (maybe later - I bought this planning to upgrade) but the picture is still really good with a regular TV. Overall this player gets 5 stars because I can't think of anything to complain about.

Summary: Best DVD for the Price
Review: I did the research and everybody was right -- the Panasonic DVD-RP62K Progressive-Scan DVD Player is easy to set up and easy to use. And for the price, you won't do any better. As with virtually all of my Amazon purchases, I had no problems ordering -- and it only took a few days for the DVD to get to me. It's also a very pretty piece of equipment if that's important to you. All in all, buying the unit was an excellent experience.

Summary: don't have this one, but have another great Panasonic dvd
Review: I have been trying to find another dvd player with the incredible visual definition like my 5 year old A120u Panasonic, and wonder if it has the same Sage/Faroudja chipset. I also have 2 other dvd players, Toshiba sd4700 "progressive scan", and a region free Sampo, and I have, so far, not seen anything that has that incredible crystal clear visuals to equal the Panasonic for my Sharp (the best!) TV. I always wondered if it was due to some special glass grounding lens technique or something that constantly renders all dvds played on my Panasonic to be so visually and obviously improved over all others I have seen, and even on those progressive screen tv/dvds I have seen in the store. I just thought this review is more just of Panasonic craftsmanship, rather than an actual review of the DVD player listed.

Summary: Don't buy the RP62S DVD player
Review: I purchased a Panasonic DVD-RP62 progressive scan DVD player for my HDTV setup. It was the most expensive of the others being displayed, so I figured it was probably the most functional (had more features). I found this to be wrong ... It does not play any of the rewritable DVD formats, like DVD-RW and DVD+RW. Since DVD writers are popping up everywhere, and many of my friends already have DVD writers on their PCs, it's hard to imagine an expensive DVD player NOT playing rewritable discs. I found a Sony model that for the same price does play the DVD rewritables. So once again, price does not mean the same as features. Make sure your progressive scan DVD player play a variety of computer writable media type BEFORE you buy it!
