Summary: Don't buy this item
Review: After 6 months of working fine, it started freezing and melting. After another 6 months of talking to customer service reps and following all of their suggestions, it now no longer even recognizes DVDs.

Summary: May the Eye Candy keep on coming
Review: After scraping my pennies together, I had myself convinced that I could buy any dvd player I wanted. After inspecting dozen's, I eventually found this one. RCA RC5215 is the model dvd player that takes your pennies to their fullest. Previously I had messed around with several, very expensive players only to conclude that this was all I needed. It has all the features necessary to view dvd's in their finest form. I have never had any problem's to speak of, and have enjoyed a rich dvd experience these last month's. All of my DVD reviews are due to this fine piece of machinery, and the father of my entertainment system. (One flaw, do not expect to use ANY features on ANY dvd if you loose your remote. You can't do a manual select on the player itself. So, keep up with the old couch-potato-hand-machine.) The DTS-out is terrific, and is the best I have heard. For an excellent Amp, check out mine: Sony's STRDE575 5.1 digital reciever.

Review: Easy to install, easy to use. User friendly menus, however:1)The player sometimes locks up after you have ejected a disk. The only way to unlock it is to unplug it. 2) The brightness fades in and out as scenes change throughout a movie. Something with the brightness control is not quite right. 3) The remote has now failed after about 2 years of use and we can no longer do anything with the player except play a movie. We can not use the menu at all without the remote, so we cannot view extra features and the like. Overall a decent player, but not reliable in the long run.

Summary: Pretty damn good DVD player.
Review: I already have a dvd-rom drive on my laptop which basically emulated high-end dvd systems. But I realized that an inexpensive and expendable home dvd player might be useful to have. I did have an awesome dvd-rom drive that I cared dearly for, but I also wanted another dvd player which I could abuse. So after considering to by an Orintron or a pay $80 more for this RCA model, I got the RCA. This is one damn good player. I really didn't expect much, but it had much features that made my life somewhat easier. The only real problem I had with this dvd player was when I put a DVD in, a "No-Disc" message came up and the whole system froze, I couldn't even turn it off. This happened once and was rectified by unpluggin it. Thats it. It never happened again. And I play alot of DVDs. Everything else, Picture, Features, Sound is awesome. This Player is retailing for much more so it really is a good buy.

They said that I would have to pay them [...] to have it fixed! I have done some research since then on this model and I am not the only one with this same problem. I think that there is a defect in this model. I will never buy another RCA product again, because of the sevice I received.

Summary: A Great DVD Player
Review: I bought this DVD with out a lot of knowlege of how DVD players operate. I wanted a good budget system that was easy and trouble free to operate. So far, this player does the job. I had the player up and running in about 15 minutes and it had a on screen menu that was very easy to use. The features of this player are great. I am thinking about purchasing another player for our second T.V.
