Review: After going through several DVD Players, I have found the PERFECT ONE -- the Toshiba 2200 DVD Player!This player features everything that one needs to start watching the movies you love: * S-Video * Component Video * Dolby Digital Deocoder * Zoom (3 levels) * Dual tray * Coaxial & Digital audio output It plays every DVD flawlessly, and the audio quality is superb. Do not even think about buying anything else, this is the player to get. It is worth every penny!

Summary: High quality player
Review: After receiving this DVD player, I was able to set it up and start watching movies in less than five minutes. The picture is excellent, comparable to DVD players that cost hundreds more. The remote takes some getting used to, but is actually quite functional and logical in its setup. The value gets even better when you realize that it supports DTS audio as well. And to those who complain about the lack of an eject button on the remote, it's because if you have an entertainment center like I do, you probably don't want the tray banging against the glass when it comes out of the player. The fact is this player is easy to use, produces great audio and video, and is priced well to match. If you want a good high-end DVD player, the 2200 does the trick in every aspect. Gotta go now, finding more DVD's to watch this weekend!

Summary: Good features...but poor reliability
Review: After receiving this system, I thought it was fantastic. The picture and sound was awesome. The remote was easy to use and intuitive. Then two weeks later, it started with intermitent failures. It could not read the DVD disks. It said "no disk" or "insert disk". Contacting Toshiba was no help. They said to clean the disk (I had 10 brand new DVDs) and also to unplug and repower after 5 minutes. It would work okay after being off overnight. Then after another week, it failed permanently.

Summary: Bad from the start
Review: At first the SD-2200 played DVD's but not CD's. After a week it does not recognize DVD's or CD's. I switched back to my old Panasonic and still love it. In addition, the remote control is ungainly and the controls aren't intuitive. A bad choice!

Summary: Excellent AV, but Caution on the dual-disc system
Review: Be careful to check any DVD you put in it: some rental shops put labels on their discs, and if the label is peeling off it can cause a jam. I lost 2 SD-3109s (predecessor to the 2200)... The video and audio quality is really excellent. The MPEG decoder leaves nothing to be desired. Built-in Dolby Digital decoder is a nice convenience that most models in this price range don't have. Certainly better than anything else in this price range. I would prefer it without the dual-disc system, but I haven't had a problem with the new model. WRT some of the reviews saying no CDR support: this is not entirely true. It won't play music CDRs, but I've played CDR VCDs (Nero is good for making these).

Summary: Fantastic DVD Player
Review: Great Picture, Crystal Clear. Extremely Quiet! Comes with Dolby 5.1 Decoder built in. Also includes Spatializer Virtual Surround Sound. I have hooked up the Dolby 5.1 & have tryed the Spatializer Surround Sound through my Stereo TV speakers. Was Extremely Impressive! Will also play CD RW a nice bonus. I am updating this review. It is now Dec.16 2002 and this unit still works like new. You cannot buy a better DVD player than this one. Has double DVD trays for movies that have two disks...I bought this one at [a]Clearance Auction ... Made in Japan (Very Good Quality!). I rate this unit at 5 Stars and Highly Recommend it to everyone young and old alike! Looks & Feels like a Quality piece of Audio/Video Equipment! Get Yours Now.. prefer the made in Japan version if you can still get one, quality is definately better.

Review: I AM NOT GOING INTO ALL OF THE SPECIFICS, BUT OUT OF 9 DVD PLAYERS I OWN, THIS IS MY FAVORITE----THOSE ANNOYING LETTERBOX MOVIES ZOOM INTO STANDARD AT ONE CLICK WITH VERY EQUAL BALANCING ON THE CUTOFF SO THAT IT LOOKS LIKE A STANDARD MOVIE, YOU DO NOT MISS ANYTHING...IT PLAYED ALL OF MY DVD-R'S AND MY SVCD'S...I WOULD NOT TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING, IN FACT I MAY BUY ANOTHER.

Summary: The Best DVD Player for Under $300
Review: I bought this DVD player after a lot of research on the net. It has many features that some more expensive DVD's don't even have. Also, this player makes my TV's speakers sound great, like I have surround sound. I'm not kidding! The only thing this DVD player doesn't have is Progressive Scan, if it did it would be very expensive. It also has component outputs for great video. The one con, I would say is the remote control. It is too big and akward, and the buttons are not illuminated. Which makes it hard to see in the dark. Other than that, it is a great DVD player and I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Buying one for myself, now
Review: I bought this for my son and another for my parents. My husband & I are so envious of the features on this compared to our PROSCAN model, I am ordering one for us today. FYI. buy.com was the same price in August and 24.00 higher today.
