Summary: Works Great For Me...
Review: This DVD Player has been nothing short of wonderful for me. I bought it 3 weeks ago from Amazon, and it has performed nearly flawlessly. I say 'nearly' because of the hundreds of MP3's that I have tried in this player, 1 of them did not work. That is out of three MP3-only CDs that I have recorded. That's pretty darn good. The picture quality is great, as good as I've seen on comparable products from Sony and Toshiba. It has all of the output jacks that you need too... s-video, component video, and Toslink digital audio. The unit itself is actually much smaller than it seems in the picture; it's one of the smallest I've seen, and I looked around. Also, the silver touch is nice. I have nothing but rave reviews for the player, it's been great for me.

Summary: 2 Months of Perfect DVD Playing
Review: This inexpensive player is easy to set up, very simple to use and has played DVDs perfectly for 2 months. So far, I've yet to have it freeze up on me once. I use it exclusively for DVDs so I can't comment on its MP3 capabilities, but highly recommend it for someone whose looking for a low-maintenence, low-end DVD player.

Summary: Solid Product
Review: This is my first DVD player, and it delivers what it promised.

Pros: Good picture quality, excellent sound.

Cons: It lacks a screen saver. Does not display extra CD info. It is not user friendly to program playlists for audio CD and you need to have the TV on during programming(I used it once, but if you need to do this, my advice buy a CD player).

Overall a good product at an excellent price.

Summary: Great Palyer
Review: This was my first DVD player, and I do not regret the purchase. I waited a while before jumping into the whole DVD craze, mainly because I didn't know what features to get. This model has the right mix of features and price, and I think the silver looks pretty cool--sorta retro meets the Jetsons.

Summary: Flawless!
Review: Unfortunatley it is difficult to find this DVD player anymore. However, due to its reputation, I was determined. After a few weeks, I was able to track one down through a friend of a friend. It was well worth it--- 10 times better than my other players!! On top of that, it had been used for almost 2 years by the previous owner and still performs flawlessly. Highly recommended! Try to track one down! It's worth it!

Summary: Best player out there for the price!
Review: We have had this player for 2 months now and it is the most consistent and reliable one we have ever owned. The component output makes a huge difference in picture quality. This unit has successfully played every DVD and VCD we have attempted to view. A friend of ours had purchased one 2 years ago on Amazon and highly recommended it. We had to settle for a 3rd party purchase since it is apparently no longer in production. Since used/like new ones are the only ones available at this point, you won't beat it for the price.

Summary: ben lake and the hdv600
Review: We just wanted to say thank you! to Ben for his fantastic advice about the infinitely annoying HO2 message on the hdv600. Very helpful and thank you so much. Unfortuately I am now getting an ho5 error message, if one at all. I have had my hdv600 for 3yrs which seems better luck than ppl have had with this model.. But what's ho5?!

Summary: all-in-all a sound package for a good price
Review: When I bought this DVD player, I was looking for a multifunctional player that had a good track record and good performance quality -- all for a reasonable price. After trying out this Panasonic unit, I have to say, I'm not disappointed. The video quality is fine. The player has all the functionality of a good quality DVD player, plus it plays MP3/CDR which is wonderful. This player has component video out as well as S-video out, a great option for the HDTV buffs. Scanning - fast or slow, forward or back, can be done quickly and clearly. The unit has a clean metallic finish and isn't too bulky. This certainly is not be the king of the hill, but for the price, you'd be hard pressed to find a better all-round unit.

CONS:
1. The 2x-scan skips frames to speed things up, so video is not 100% smooth and half the sound bytes are also skipped so dialogue is rendered incoherent.

2. MP3 playability is where this function ends. Only track number and no data (names, etc).

3. An annoying attribute is the power-up. Once the power is turned on, it takes about 10 sec. before any functions work because the machine is too busy saying "Welcome to your DVD world!"

4. The macro-technology on this unit does not allow A/V-out to enter another component like a VCR. This was a hassle for me since my TV only had an RF-in. I had to pay [$$$]RF modulator at to view movies from my new DVD player.
