Summary: Great basic DVD player
Review: I've been very happy with this DVD player. It does everything you'd want it to do in a basic DVD player. My only complaint is that the remote is not well laid out, and some major buttons are very small sized. But overall, it's a great value.

Summary: Panasonic does it again,
Review: what a wonderful dvd player. this thing has not screwed up on me yet. I own 20+ DVDs and I've watched them all several times. I bought it in october for [$$] from an annonymous seller and this thing has treated me like gold. My previous DVD Player was a "Go-Video" DVD Player, and needless to say, I ended up returning that only a few short weeks after buying it. It skipped so badly that watching a movie was practically impossible.

On the other hand, this DVD Player has yet to give me ANY sort of problem. The shuttle dial works for fast tracking back and forth between your movies, and the commands on the remote work very good. the cinema and sound modes are simply breathtaking, and expand your sound and view to the northern lights. if you're debating about getting one, don't hesitate. I was going to get a Sony DVD Player instead, but it looks like I made the right choice with this one. Sony reviews claim their players [break] within 2 or 3 months. this baby is still goin strong, almost a year now. I have no doubts in my mind that this thing will ever give up or [break] on me. Great DVD Player, Great Price...you can't afford NOT to buy this wonderful machine. -Jared

Summary: H07 Error Code
Review: The Panasonic DVD-RV32 worked fine for 8 months and then an error message began showing up - H07. I have no idea how to get rid of it and the manual is no help. I'm not impressed with my new paperweight.

Summary: TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE...
Review: Firstly, I'm the last person to write a review, especially a negative one at that. This dvd player was absolutely great at first and I was completely sold on it. It was easy to use, easy to install, and came with at an incredibly reasonable price. I even convinced my sister to return her Samsung DVD Player for the Panasonic model.
Now, close to 5 months later after my purchase, I have a "H07" appearing on the player's display. I have no idea what this code means and neither does the manual because they tell you to contact a service repair shop when this occurs. Why would a company leave a code that instructs it's consumers to seek repairs...unless it was anticipated and expected. All I know is that the unit doesn't read any of my dvd's or cd's and it shuts off and on. I have went through the manual and gone through all of it's trouble shooting techniques (unplugging the unit, letting the unit dry from condensation). After reading reviews for the Panasonic's previous model "RV-32k" here on amazon.com, which had given consumers similar problems, I have no question that this recent model will slowly follow in it's footsteps.
Panasionic provides an outstanding price for a DVD Player that works outstandingly for a limited amount of time. You get what you pay for and unfortunately, it was too good to be true. I have absolutely no interest in claiming the unit's warranty, knowing that I'll just get more frustrated in doing so. I am truly[upset] and disappointed with Panasonic and I'm on my way to buy a new DVD Player. This time, I'm definitely investing more than [money amount]and I'm definitely not buying a Panasonic.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE [money amount]DVD PLAYERS...THEY'RE NOT WORTH IT IN THE LONG RUN!

Summary: I like the flat look!
Review: It made a good last minute present for my friend. Silver is a good look to go for. I guess it works well cuz she has not returned it!

Summary: Good solid product for your dvd viewing needs
Review: I got this dvd player for my family for Christmas, and I love it.
The audio and video quality is very good. The functions are plentiful and easy to use and the silver finish looks really nice. The only gripe is that the remote control is a bit cluttered. Panasonic should have made the important/most used buttons (play, FF, Rew, pause) bigger.
Overall it's a great product at a resonable price. You can't go wrong with this one.

Summary: Don't Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth
Review: ...The Panasonic unit I chose plays four different formats of disc media, those being: DVD-Video, DVD-R, Video CD, and Audio CDs. If you've read DKozin's review of the RV32S elsewhere on this site, please note that I could not find any mention of XVCD compatibility in the documentation that came with my unit, so you may want to check that fact.

There are at least fourteen other disc media formats on the market that are not supported by the DVD-RV32...This particular unit is easy to set up, and can be connected to your television through an Audio/Video cable, or with an S Video cable, which is not included in the box. I'd recommend buying an S Video cable because it separates the chrominance and luminance signals. Which makes for cleaner, clearer, more faithful image reproduction.

The remote control that comes with this model is slightly unattractive, a little heavy, cumbersome to hold, and some of the keys on it are unresponsive without repeat thumbing. You think that they could have at least provided silver-cladding, instead of the black plastic.

Some of the accessories that are supplied in the box, besides the remote, are the batteries, AC power cord, and Audio/Video cable. Some boxes with a "PX" designation printed on the outside of the box will also include a power plug adaptor for use in some foreign countries.

This player will allow you to change the aspect ratio from 4:3 (regular) to 16:9 (widescreen) in order to see the whole picture. If you are watching a Widescreen DVD, black bars will be at the top and the bottom of the screen. Please note, this is normal. If you don't want to see black bars on your TV screen, either do not buy any Widescreen DVDs, or use the TV ZOOM feature on the Panasonic DVD-RV32 while viewing Widescreen versions. DVDs that fill the screen in the 4:3 ratio are commonly referred to as Pan and Scan. My natural DVD viewing preference is for Widescreen, I like to see DVDs as the Director intended them to be seen.

Some of the basic play features that you will probably enjoy are: Quick Replay, Sleep Timer, Frame-By-Frame Viewing, TV Zoom, Program Play, Subtitles & Cinema.

When using the CINEMA mode, your picture quality is altered for movie viewing. CINEMA 1 mode will mellow the images and enhance details in dark scenes. CINEMA 2 mode will sharpen images and enhance detail in dark scenes. You can easily see the difference between NORMAL, CINEMA 1, and CINEMA 2 with the naked eye.

I figure most people that buy this model are just looking for a hundred dollar DVD player, so I'm going to gloss over the details about the sound a little, but you will be pleased to know that this unit will play your MP3 and WMA files rather adroitly. The player can also render Dolby Digital, but only in two channels. There is not a DTS decoder onboard. You must connect another stereo component with a Dolby Digital or DTS decoder to the Panasonic to fully enjoy surround sound. You may also connect a subwoofer to the DVD-RV32 if you so desire.

Panasonic provides toll-free phone support, and web-based support should you need to troubleshoot by voice or email, and they also allow you to register your product online, which I'm going to go do in a minute. Panasonic also offers a customer care plan, which can be purchased through 1-800-637-2007. Based on previous experience with Panasonic, I think I will pass on the extended warranty.

...It may be a little on the basic side, but the features are very good for the price range, and I think this model would make for a great Graduation, Housewarming, or Welcome Home gift.

So, there it sits, in the bedroom, the accumulation of a year of hard work, (and I do mean hard... LOL) the silver chassis gleaming up at me from underneath the TV table, and winking at me with it's cool and quixotic blue LED.

I insert a DVD, and the Panasonic's scrolling LED proudly, silently, pronounces: WELCOME TO DVD WORLD.

Welcome Indeed.

Summary: What a great inexpensive dvd player
Review: Ok, yes it may be a bit early in ownership to rate this product but I'm so happy with it. The picture and sound is great/actualy awesome. I have a 4 year old 36"toshiba, which has the componet video(none hdtv, none wide screen), a denon pro logic receiver (6 years- not digital, 5.1) and a cadence surround sound speaker system. With this I was engrossed in surround sound heaven. Can it get better then this??? I can't wait to the digital receiver upgrade, and a wide screen tv :D.

I read many reviews that pointed out that you should go with a progressive scan dvd player. Know if that will make my picture any better, I can't imagen how clear it would get. The picture is total awesome. This dvd player is worth every pennie plus.

Now thru march of this year you can get a 20 dollar rebate, making the dvd price that much greater. i wish i bought this sooner when Rex was offering 20% off plus the rebate, but it was black friday(friday after thanksgiving) and i wasn't touching any mall then =D.

I've only played 2 dvd in it (told u i was premature) but it was flawless.(we played the care bear movie for the kids, and Star Wars II for me)

Pros:
easy to install
easy to setup
price-its only $$$ buck plus a rebate
fast reading of the dvd.

Cons:
I found none but being an upgrade from a vcr(as old as the receiver) the picture blows it away. LOL kind of felling bad i scolded my 2 year for jamming a tape in it, with out her doing that I would have never bought a dvd player!!

-------

Some people comment on remotes and looks of the product!!! I for one think that is no way to judge a product or way to determine if you would purchase a product. Both are meaningless in determing if it is a good product and I've seen some reviews that are bad becasue the remote bottons are to small. =p Give me a brake. I agree that denon as the worst remotes but the quality of the products can't be touch and i would buy a denon with out ever thinking twice accept for the check book lol. Which will be the brand of receiver i'll buy for my current set up.

The only thing that matters is
price
peformance(picture and sound quality, issues of over heating or power supply problems, stuff like that) I was ready to by a toshiba tell i read about power problems.

Now it is time to buy dvd's :D

Summary: Wonderful DVD player, breeze to use, sticky remote
Review: After comparing the features and price of several competing DVD players, I finally bought this particular model for my girlfriend. She owns a small library of DVD's, and she uses this player extensively. It works great! It reads the disk quickly and has a host of amazing and convenient features which make it a real breeze to operate. The only downside is the poorly-designed remote control, which has small buttons that are difficult to find and awkward to push. (The stop/pause/play buttons are small and hard to push.) This is a small quibble however, and this is a GREAT player overall, delivering a crisp picture and NO skipping that we could see after playing many disks. This unit is highly recommended.

Summary: Doesn't play SVCD
Review: I purchased this as an addition to my existing DVD player to play SVCDs I made from home videos. I picked this one because it was fairly cheap and some reviews said it would play SVCDs. The one I got didn't play them at all. It turns out that to play SVCDs in this machine, you have to burn them with a special hack to make the machine think they are VCD (lower quality). What a hassle. The medium rating is only because it didn't do SVCDs specifically. As a DVD player it worked fine and was good for the money.
