Rating: Summary: OK But Not Perfect Review: The Daewoo DVG-3000N DVD Player has incredible array of features for the [price] I paid. It's my guess 99% of the buyers will never use most of them. There are however some glaring problems:1. I am hearing impaired and the 3000N will not display closed captions. Subtitles yes but closed captions no. Not a problem for you but a big one for me. 2. There are 36 buttons on the remote but no On/Off. A real pain. 3. Periodically the picture freezes up on the screen. The only way to correct the problem is to turn the device off then back on and start the feature over. Because of 2., no On/Off switch on the remote, you have to get up and walk over to the DVD.
Rating: Summary: A piece of junk not worth buying Review: I bought this dvd in the summer and It works okay But there are many flaws like the picture quality is not good and am using a s video the picture is blurry bleeding kind like the remote broke the same week I bought it and the remote does not power the dvd you have to get up to turn on or off what a disgrace of dvd
Rating: Summary: Daewoo ares the best bang for their buck Review: I have had this DVD Player for over a year now and have not had one single problem. I personally got mine at Sams Club, but it is all the same. Everything I throw into it (which includes hundreds of VCDs and SVCDs and MP3 CDs) plays beautifully. While the picture quality is not as high as my Sony, for [money] there is no better buy. (Especially since the Sony won't play VCDs). I loved this DVD Player so much I actually went out and purchased another Daewoo (DVD-5800K), which is another excellent machine. For [money] it is impossible to find a better deal.
Rating: Summary: affordable, but your money is better spent elsewhere Review: This DVD player works, i guess. Picture and sound are adequate. Easy enough to set up, although the button loaded front side is less than attractive. It is fairly thick (tall) for a DVD player, but that is not my complaint. This may just be my player, but i cannot get rid of subtitles in some DVDs. I press the button and i can cycle through the different language subtitles - but problems arise. Zoolander for example had french subtitles popping up every time a new chaper started. that means i have to push the subtitle button 20 some odd times trough the film. My simpsons season 2 DVD shows subtitles for all words on the screen (for example a sign the characters are reading.) I CANNOT get rid of this. For this reason alone, the player fails. If yours doesn't have weird subtitle problems, then maybe, maybe, it is worth the money. i know next time i buy a player, i'll invest the extra 80 bucks so that i won't have to think about a "next time" after that!
Rating: Summary: good for a few months Review: I purchased this player back in Feb. for the first few months it was fine. Played MP3s, VCDs, CD-Rs, DVD-Rs, and more. Then about a month ago whenever I watch a DVD, within the first 10 mins, the subtitles pop on. This happens with about half of my DVDs. I'll go to the root menu and turn off the subtitles, start up the film again, and within the next 10 mins, the subtitles will pop up again. It has also started glitching on some MP3 CDs. Unfortunately, there was no warranty for this. Should of held out for a better one.
Rating: Summary: File this one under POS Review: Well, it worked fine at first for a cheap DVD player, but after about 6 months it stopped working. When I put in a DVD it says Disc Error, when I put in a CD it plays for a few seconds and then crashes. But even if it hadn't abruptly stopped working I'd still have plenty of complaints 1) Subtitles. I had to turn them back off every few minutes. Every time I interacted with the device at all subtitles came back on. I didn't notice any of the other reviews complaining about this, so maybe it was just a quirk unique to my machine. 2) the mute button that should be the power button. In the upper left hand corner of the remote there is a big red button. The power button? no, that's the mute button. there is not power button on the remote. 3) [disappointing] and confusing mp3 support. But that's not really a big surprise, mp3 support seems to generally be a quickie feature most manufacturers add on just for fun. Still, it's a feature I care about so I'd like it to be reasonably useable. It sure looks nice, and it was a good value for the price, but I'm pretty upset that it just stopped working all the sudden. So I'm going to have to file this one under POS.
Rating: Summary: The only DVD player I've ever owned... Review: ...so I doubt this will generate many "helpful" reviews but I like it a lot. It works great, the price was right when I bought it back at Christmas 2001, so if you need an endorsement to buy this item, here you go, you got one.
Rating: Summary: Great DVD player for those who are new to DVD Review: This DVD is great for anyone who is buying a DVD player for the first time. This is my first DVD player and I love it. Let on first say this, it is a Region 1 DVD player, but will play VCDs. This is wonderful because you can buy VCDs rather [inexpensively online]. The only complaint I have with the VCD thing is that if a VCD has even a small amount of dirt or something on the bottom of it the DVD player will make this loud noise, meaning youll have to turn up the volume to drown the noise out.Overall its really a rather nice feature on a DVD player that is rather [inexpensive] compared to most. My only other complaint is that the DVD player wont play CDs with the enhanced thing so you can watch bonus features on the CD. Example-My Jewel This Way cd refuses to play, but my Jewel Spirit cd will play in the DVD player. With DVDs this will only play Region 1 DVDs. If you want for example any season of Friends other than 1(which you can buy on VCD but it is worth buying on DVD)... Other movies that are also available only in other regions or only in another country are available at the website... Anyway, if you are new to DVD or are looking for [an inexpensive] DVD player then get this one.
Rating: Summary: Cheap and Frustrating Review: Bought this from [local store] based on the low price. What a disappointment. The remote is terrible. Very poorly designed and after few months remote stopped working. Too bad there was no manufacturers code available to use universal remote. Ocassionally CD tray doesn't open.Picture quality was OK. Overall, very frustating. Never buy Daewoo again.
Rating: Summary: Buttons -ouch Review: I found the buttons on the main console to be a bit chessy overall... One may expect the units panel can be damaged if not taken care of... and no R-G-B or HDTV interface *sigh* Overall there are nice features not meantioned such as the Karoke Feature on the Unit and that it can play "-r" type medias such as MP3's. Overall Happy., but not overly impressed.
