Summary: works during warranty coverage...doesn't as soon as it ends
Review: APEX [is weak]!
Not that you should expect much when paying such a small amount of money for such an electronic device, but it is frusterating. Mine lasted just beyond the termination of the warranty coverage and then completely stopped working. It worked great until that point, but now it would cost me more to fix it than to just buy a new one. Instead I'm going to invest a bit more money and purchase a quality dvd player.

Summary: you get less than what you pay for this lemon!
Review: The good thing about this DVD player is that you can disable Macrovision and enable multi-region playback if the serial number starts with either A, B, C or D. When it works, the DVD player plays *some* VCDs and DVDs. Most of the time it will refuse to recognize a DVD and "NO DISC" will appear on the display. Once you'll open and close the door a dozen of times, your DVD might play. Cleaning the lens will not help much. The remote contol has be be held no more than a feet away. You go further, and the remote control is completely useless. (With fresh Duracell Alkaline batteries, that it) This unit is light, cheap in price & cheap in contruction. Should anybody decide to buy this 'lemon' do yourself a favor and buy the extended waranty, you'll need it.

Summary: Its OK, but...
Review: It is been my experience that this machine is not meant for heavy usage. But there are very few players that can read the numerous formats i.e. VCD, SVCD, MP3, etc this machine can display. I find that if I don't use the 2X, 4X, 8X fast forward speeds, the player won't vibrate. reference vcdhelp.com for performance reviews of other players and their is a good chance you can buy them from Amazon.com whom I rate five stars over the four to five years I have bought stuff without problems.

Summary: cheap and good DVD player
Review: This DVD is great for its low cost. This DVD also has features most expensive players don't have. It can play VCD, CDs, and custom burned CDs. The quality is great, and its extemely easy to use.

Summary: Did not work
Review: Didn't work right out of the box! The disk tray did not slide out when pressing the button on the machine or the button on the remote. Kept making a grinding sound. Had to return this immediately for a refund. This problem was not addressed in the instruction manual nor on Apex's website. FAQs were very basic and unhelpful.

Summary: Don't get very excited
Review: ... After hooking it up with the other systems, the player didn't open the disc tray when eject button(both on the player as well as the remote) is pressed. I had to pull it manually first time to open the disk tray. Later, it started working with the remote and the button on the player. The sound quality is not good with VCDs. There's a slight mismatch in the audio and video. Moreover, if the palyer is connected to a surround system, the voice is transmitted in different channels with a fraction of a second difference. So, you hear some echo kind of sound. No problems with DVDs so far.

Summary: It was good while it lasted
Review: Add me to the list of owners whose player died in the eighth month. What did they do, put time bombs in these things? At the current price I doubt it would be worth paying the labor and shipping charges to fix it. I'll probably throw it out and replace it with a game console or a better brand of player.

Review: this dvd player is really loud,when i put a cd or a dvd disk in it sounds like the ground is shaking or something like that.if you want a good dvd player under 100 dollars go with a rca or something,not apex.
