Summary: Awesome DVD Player At A Bargain Price
Review: I like the player, it looks sleek, but the Fast Forward is very functional, it's to fast, without very many adjustable speeds like other dvd players. It's very loud too, it sounds like it might shoot the movie back out at you. The picture is fine, set up was easy, but I think I should have waited for the new sony's to be released.

Summary: Good product for the money
Review: I purchased the DVD825AT several months ago, and have not had any problems with it at all. It has played every disc I have thrown at it, and has excellent picture and sound quality. It has a sleek design, with an easy to read display. The only weak spots are the lack of a component output, along with a substandard remote.

Summary: Great entry-level DVD player
Review: I purchased the Philips DVD825AT several months ago and I am very pleased with my choice. I looked at a dozen low-cost DVD players before selecting this one. What I liked about it was it comes with an S-Video output so you don't have to worry about using those cheap old RCA plugs. I also liked the digital audio coaxial cable output, which allows me to use my stereo system. I currently have Titantic playing and it sounds better than it did in the movie theater. I also like the slow motion option. It's also super easy to use. Only a limited number of buttons to play with. I am thinking about buying another unit for my 71-year-old mother.

So if you're looking to set up a home theater on a limited budget that will impress your friends, this is a good start.

Summary: No Initial Problems
Review: I received the Philips DVD824AT last night as a birthday gift. I literally had it up and running, playing a movie within minutes. I watched several different disks with no trouble at all. Once again, I just opened the box, let's hope that I feel the same in the weeks and months to come

Summary: Awesome DVD Player At A Bargain Price
Review: I recently purchased the Philips DVD825AT and could not be happier with it's performance. The video and audio are perfect, I have a home theatre setup and this unit is great with flawless play on every DVD. I was able to set it up in less than five minutes and I did use an S-connector which was not included but it certainly is worth the few dollars it cost so that you get maximum picture quality. The remote is small but functional and the unit itself has a great look. I highly recommend this DVD player. It has all the features I need at a rock bottom price.

Summary: Great DVD Player for DVD's and CD's alike!
Review: I tried-out a few of the $250-$300 range DVD players (Toshiba, Panasonic, Sony, Pioneer, and the Philips), and the Philips was the best. I have never been a Philips person, so I was surprised that I settled on this as my favorite to fit my needs. The one thing that made my decision, was that it plays my CD-R's. And so far, it has played every DVD that I have put into it. (It skips a bit on the Dreamworks intro, for Saving Private Ryan, but plays the rest just fine) I would recommend this DVD player to anybody. You won't be dissapointed.

Summary: Great DVD at Any Price
Review: I was concerned about how to integrate a DVD with my existing Pro-Logic sound system, but this player has a Pro-logic set up option so I just plugged it in to my receiver and clicked the option screen. The sound is just tremendous, and the picture maxes out my TV's specs and the player has played every disk I have put in it flawlessly. A great player with advanced features for a bargin price.

Summary: A Possible Design Flaw
Review: I was thrilled at the price for the features. 1/4, 1/8, 1/2, 4X , 32X speeds with rock solid freeze and frame advance are fantastic in this dollar range. Especially valuable are the Optical and Digital outputs. Dolby Digital is a must and a great bonus is the DTS compatibility. However, (here drops the other shoe) the transport design makes it susceptible to damage. The door is exposed from the top making it prone to misalignment if it gets hit or pushed down. I experienced "no disc" and "disc error" messages (not to mention the five second playback fake-out leading you to believe it's actually going to work). I say, "Bravo, Philips!", but back to the drawing board on this one. Perhaps a modified faceplate on the whole unit and a thinner drawer front will better protect the transport and make a dynamite product. As-is, I would expect lots of unhappy people down the road.

Summary: Great Quality at an Affordable Price
Review: I would say that I am your average video consumer I basically just wanted a quality unit which would give me the "cd quality" sound and better picture. This is a great player for someone who just wants a good DVD player without a lot of "bells and whistles." Another good aspect is the option to upgrade via a software CD.
