Summary: Disappointed
Review: This model is about as good as you're going to get for the money. I wanted a DVD player for a fair price and this one seemed to have the most bells and whistles. I've got it hooked up with a monster cable via the S-Video output, but it also has the optical connection which I'll be using when I upgrade my receiver. The images are crystal clear, the sound options are wonderful, I've never had a problem with skipping and being able to plug my subwoofer directly into the player is an added benefit. You won't be sorry if you purchase this player.

Summary: Excellent sound and video quality with a few subtle flaws
Review: This Panasonic DVD player is made in Japan, and comes with a plethora of useful features; cinema video setting, dialogue enhancer, "resume" function (will resume movie from where it was left off even after powering off the unit), DTS and DD output (you still need a receiver with the decoder) and excellent image quality.

It plays all of the major DVD titles including problem discs such as "the Matrix with outstanding picture quality and sound. I liked that this unit did not display the annoying layer change delay common in other models. It was seamless

On the down side, there was no Chapter access from the remote. What I mean is that I was unable to access the Chapters directly via the numeric pad. I think the only way to access the Chapter directly (say from Chapter 1 to Chapter 18) is by pressing the display button first, then pressing the fast forward button once to C, and then enter the Chapter number via the numeric pad. This is very cumbersome.

The remote could also be larger and backlit.

Overall, the image and soud quality are excellent and the player performs well with any DVD. It dous not earn five stars because of the faulty chapter access feature and the remote - but these may be flaws many users will not mind at all.

Hope this helps.

Summary: Superb Quality, Superb Price
Review: Well, let me start by telling you I am no electronics guru, so I cannot tell you about all the features this player has. But I can tell you what a wonderful player this is. We decided to get a DVD player, because I feel they are what CD's are to music. Plain and simple, I was looking for better clarity. We have a digital satellite system, and when we first got it, I noticed the vast visual difference from cable. I, too, was noting that VHS tapes just did not offer the same quality as when we were watching TV from the satellite. We got the player just after Christmas, and it was perfect timing, because my son had received some DVD's. I have seen so many people indicate that The Matrix is the movie to watch to see the DVD difference. While this may be true, Toy Story is a great one, too. We popped it in and my husband and I were amazed. There really are no words to describe how much better it is. We've really been taking this player for a spin, too. here is only thing that I think is hard to get used to. This just has to do with the movies, not the player. It is the widescreen layout, and most DVD's have this. But, hey, if you have the money, they have TV's that will take care of that. This is a great player, entry level or not, and I am sure it will be enjoyed by our family for many years to come.

Summary: Avid movie fan loves this DVD player!
Review: [...] I am very impressed with this unit. For my whole life, I have been partial to Panasonic products. But that's usually due to research anyway. Panasonic products are always ranked in the top 2 or 3.

I am Very satisfied with all of the great features (as usual) and ease of use. That just comes from years of perfection. Also, the picture quality is second to none! If you've been looking for a really good DVD player with the "Most Bang for the Buck" - then look no further - you've found it!
