Review: I purchased this DVD player after I had researched Amazon for months looking for a graet deal. I have definitly found one!! I got this player in 2 days. great job Amazon. the features are very advanced for a player at this price. It is a steal. the picture and sound are above average for a sub-$200 DVD player. the controls are very natural to use. I played Highlander:Endgame, Toy Story 1 and 2, and X-men seemlessly. No problems whatsoever. Get It while you can at this price. These deals come very rare for a Panasonic. Buy It Now!!

Summary: Excellent Basic DVD Player
Review: I purchased this DVD player back in 2000 because I started collecting DVDs. I wanted a player that didn't have a lot of bells & whistles because I use this player on a circa 1982 Electrohome 26" TV set. It plays DVDs flawlessly, and offers features like virtual surround sound, a cinema setting which makes the picture a little darker and sharp, plus a lot more great features. The unit has a nice weight to it, and is built solid. The picture quality, even on my old TV set, is brilliant and sharp. I haven't regretted buying this DVD player because it has been really reliable & a joy to use for the past 2 years.

Summary: No wonder its sold out!!
Review: I really did my home work before I bought this unit. I compared sound specs, video specs, and DTS capability. You don't need to know one piece of technical info to understnad my review.I went to a local store and looked at five units between 199 and 350 dollars. This RV-30 offered as much as any at the best price. I even asked a kid at (a stoor) what the real difference was. He said he could have bought any one but got this one because it was the best. I bought it and use it daily. [wasn't supposed to open it until xmas]. Super picture quality and easy to use. Not one draw back at all.

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I received this dvd player for Christmas. It worked really well and then about 9 months after having it, it began to freeze on certain chapters in movies, but it happened on the ones I rented, so I thought there was something wrong with those, not my player. Then I got the Moby Play dvd and when I put it in, it would say "No Disc" and wouldn't play. After about 30 times of ejecting and putting it back in, it finally played. Then I figured, maybe it's the dvd. But then just after Christmas the next year it wouldn't do anyhting. It just said some code on the player itself. I called the company and they said that they couldn't tell me what was wrong with it, just that I had to drive about 30 miles to take it to a repair center to have it shipped to Minnesota for them to fix it, and since it was after the warranty I would have to pay. I was very disappointed. I don't think I will buy Panasonic again.

Summary: Close but not perfect.
Review: I've had this model for about two years now and generally I am fairly satisfied with its quality. So far I haven't had any major problems and it worked just fine. It plays all different kinds of DVDs without a glitch (including Matrix). Nice clean interface, many features... You will not go wrong with this unless...... The reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because of its lack of coaxial digital output. Recently I bought SONY home theatre system and this one has RCA jack and a coaxial input for DVD and RCA+optical for TV. The problem is both my TV (SONY Trinitron) and DVD use optical output for surround sound. I understand that for most people 1 optical and RCA output for audio are adequate enough but for those who want to set up a home theatre system, try to get one with coaxial instead because that's the standard method of delievering surround sound for DVD players. Most home theatre system has only one optical and several coaxial. If you don't care about the above, it's a good DVD player.

Summary: DVD player good for the not so avid electronics fan
Review: Like everyone else i was excited to join the DVD hoopla, and as usual I jumped on the bandwagon. This DVD player fits my sytem perfectly. I have a DVD player, a VCR and a TV, I own none of this dolby digital crap and to put it simply I don't need it. This DVD player will work great if you're either not into, or don't have the money(me) for the extra recievers and speakers. It is easy to use and cheap. The start up time, picture and sound are all enormous upgrades from my VCR. I gave this DVD player only 4 stars because I fail to see the superiority of the Virtual Surround Sound. If you're just looking for a simplistic, affordable DVD player, this is it. One other suggestion, don't get suckered into buying the S-Video cable, it is a waste of money, just use the RCA cables it comes with, i fail to see a vast difference in the picture that the S-Video cable boasts of.

Summary: Very Good player, decent price
Review: Other reviews covered the good details & pros of this player, basically, odds are very good your experience will be great. As always, buy from a reputable retailer so if box has been dropped, or problems arise, you can get a replacement or repair. (Amazon is great with returns). 99% of the time you will never have any of the problem a few users experienced. This player is really top quality.

Review: Panansonic DVD-RV30 is an excellent DVD at a great price. I have played a lot DVD's and its performs flawlesly with its excelllent picture quality. I wish the remote was more attractive.
