Summary: A gotta have item
Review: I just got this player for xmas and now I couldn't live without it. Great video, even though I'm still useing the cable that came with the machine, and excelent audio. I do have to agree with some of the reviews about the remote. The skip/scan button can be a pain. More than once I have had to go back and forth a couple of times becouse I didn't hold down the button long enough. Also the fast scans can be a little jumpy. But concidering it is a fraction of the price of the other machines with these features i can live with minor quirks.

Summary: Mine must be defective!
Review: I got mine for Xmas... It can only play two DVD's that we have so far. The player "fades" out video on two discs we have so far: Austin Powers and Saving Private Ryan. It will play Tomorrow Never Dies and Warner Music Group Does DVD Vol. 2. I don't know what's causing the player to screw up on those discs.

Summary: It doesn't get much better than this.
Review: Easy to set up; flawless performance. Remote is no problem. As a first time DVD-Player user, the features are easy to understand, and use. Plays Matrix and Bug's Life without a hitch. The multiple audio/video outputs will allow me to grow my system as I upgrade TV/audio systems.

Summary: very pleased
Review: i read all the customer reviews on this site and many others. most of it was good, but there were some comments the made me nervous about getting this player. problems with it being doa, hard times getting support from toshiba, errors with certain dvds, bad quality video, etc. well, i got mine, and it works perfectly in every way, video looks great, and it sounds amazing. im useing the built in digital decoder (with a 6 ch input reciever) and it was worth every penny, the seperation and quality of the sound kills pro logic. some people knocked the remote, but it is one of the better designed remotes i've used, very easy to handle in the dark (the 2109 remote is the piece of trash). the cables as expected that come with this player are garbage, and 3 pairs of monster cable for the 6 ch audio, got expensive real quick. get this player!

Summary: Works great
Review: We're thrilled with our DVD player. The only drawback we don't like is a bad remote control design with hidden features that DO NOT glow in the dark and a not so fast fastforward feature.

Summary: A fine videophile and audiophlie acheivement
Review: As the third generation of DVD players come to themarket,Toshiba, (one of the companies that took part in itsdevelopement) has created a winner. Let me state that this player has features and performance specs that 2 years ago would make it a high end product. To get the most out of this DVD player you should have a mid,or high end home theater reciever, good speakers and component outputs on your viewing monitor. Though this player will look good using any of its video outputs, its high end features should be utilized to get the most out of it. Using the component outputs, this player passed all test specs that are featured on either, Video Esstiantials test DVD, or Avias test DVD. In short....OUTSTANDING video reproduction. Also I have to point out that the high quality DAC's used for audio reproduction compare to a top end CD only player. Even if you dont have many HDCD's this units DACS will certainly sound more open, sweet and less harsh then other players in and above its price range. However,if your a audio-videophile with a good to better home theater set-up, you will appreciate all of this players positives, overlooking the few,(and I mean few)negatives...NOTE..I had NO problems playing any of my 125 DVD's with this player, and the remote is perfectly adequate.

Summary: Excellent Purchase
Review: I bought this DVD player instead of the more expensive Sony 530 and haven't been disappointed. I read about the 1x only scanning and couldn't believe it. I went to a local store and asked a saleman, he showed me that they in fact have 2x, 8x and 30x forward and reverse scanning. I have not had a problem yet with the unit that couldn't be attributed to scratches or dirt on the disc itself. Though it's not top of the line by any means, it is a worthwhile investment.

Summary: better than the sony 530
Review: my friend has the sony530, and its not fun having the sound and pic out of sync. thats why i just bought the Toshiba. the 5.1 will blow you away, and the picture quality is very good, dual tray is nice also. Remote... so so. sorry Sony, do your homework, because Toshiba certainly did.

Summary: A great DVD player for the price.
Review: I bought the 3109 three months ago and I haven't had a problem with it yet. More importantly, I haven't had the need for something that it didn't have.

TAKE NOTE: If you don't have a amplifier/receiver with 5.1 or DTS and don't need/want the two tray option, the 2109 is equally good at a much lower price. You can buy a lot of DVD's for the difference in price.

In either case, you can appreciate the audio and visual quallity of the Toshiba product. They know what they are doing and deliver second to none products.
