Rating: Summary: DVDelightful Review: Purchased my Toshiba 3109 (...). I had shopped for approximately a year, studying all of the features, brands and options. I saw a deal that I could not pass up and I am very DELIGHTED that I own a Toshiba DVD player. Especially this 3109 model. The dual tray feaure is perfect, I'll sit two discs in the tray and then relax with the remote and watch hours of movies. The only thing I wish it would do is play cdr.
Rating: Summary: Works great... but broke in under two years Review: This DVD player worked beautifully for the first year and a half. Then it started having errors when a disc was inserted... which I was able to live with, and get around after playing with it for a few minutes. Finally about a month ago it got the point where it would no longer recognize discs when I inserted them. It loaded the discs (mechanically speaking) just fine - but it could never seem to track to the start point of a disc.So I finally broke down and took it to Best Buy for repairs. The estimate came back as $300+ to repair a bad laser assembly. Only about $60 of that was labor, so the parts were unbelievably expensive!!! You can buy the unit new for less than that - which I do not recommend to anyone.
Rating: Summary: It's too bad they stopped making this Review: This is an awesome DVD player. I bought it after doing a lot of research online and truly understanding how the machine works. It came down to this one. Why? Zoom function: You can actually zoom in and look at minute detail on the movie and pan left and right on it. It also allows for "outside" angles -- meaning you can pan left or right while a movie is playing to see outside details from the center screen, if the director/dvd makers allow it (which I'm sure will be the next push in the technology). Speeds: The selection of scan through speeds is amazing -- all with startling clarity. Resolution: I scoffed that a DVD could produce THAT much better resolution and clarity of sound, but whoa man! This is amazing -- I truly am blown away with what kind of quality you get off this DVD player. Compatibility/ease of function: This DVD player is so incredibly easy to use, you basically just plug it in and play a movie. Finally: The dual tray for DVD play. This player comes with two trays to put in two movies -- which you'll find with longer epics out there. It's simple to switch between on disc to the other, and it makes it awfully convenient for viewing pleasure. They should really bring this product back. It's the best out there. Cheers, Peg
Rating: Summary: A Great DVD! Review: This is a great DVD! Its clarity of sound and picture is far superior to anything else I have seen. This SD-3109 is a must have!
Rating: Summary: Great Machine Review: This is a great DVD player. I like the dual disc operation of this player. You can put two disc in the player and just sit back and enjoy. It has every possible connection that you need. The sound is great, the picture is great. I do wish that there was more controls on the front of the player, like a menu button you must use the remote for all of the players functions other than play, stop, pause and forward and reverse. This play also reads HDCD's, but not CDR's which are rewriteable disc. You can switch between the two disc and the player continues to play non stop. I like the feature of changing the black level of the picture which makes the colors just pop. This a great machine and a must have.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: This a great DVD player. I have played all types of movies from big special effects like the Matrix to classics like A Clockwork Orange. The picture is amazing. I have noticed a slight pause in some films too, but I think it because of the way the disc is encoded. My brother told me that some DVD titles are dual layer so this is what causes the slight pause. I played The Matrix flawlessly though and was blown away. This player really has it all. The slow motion and zoom is great to see special effect shots close up. I can't complain about anything concerning this player. It is an investment I am glad I made!
Rating: Summary: rock solid Review: I was initially set to spend a lot more for a DVD player, assuming that it would be hard to find one of high quality for less than $400-500. However, after reading many reviews and talking to friends who already had DVD players, I chose this one - not for its low price, but for its quality to price inverse ratio. It has lived up to its hype since the day I unpacked it and set it up (in about 4 minutes); looks and sounds brilliant, without any problems whatsoever. Truly a great deal.
Rating: Summary: HIGHEST value-to-price ratio. Not a flaw. Review: I can't find a compelling reason to recommend a higher priced model than this one. Sound and picture as rich as can be. It is worth hooking up to a stereo system if you have one near your television. Remote features are excellent, allowing for more tricks than you'll use. Chose this after too many negative reviews of low price Sony models (I'm sure everything is fixed, but I wasn't going to take a chance over the holidays). Wasn't a Toshiba fan before this purchase (simple Sony prejudice) but now I'm willing to spend the big bucks on one of their large TV's. You'll enjoy this player and its price.
Rating: Summary: A Toshiba DVD Owner Review: I own this DVD player. I just bought it in late march 2000.It is the first DVD player I've ever owned. The sound and picture aregreat with my dad's home theater. I am seriously thinking about getting one for my bedroom. I just bought a 32-inch Toshiba tv for my bedroom. For those of you who have problems getting rid of the ZOOM in the lower right hand corner, hit the setup button TWICE, that should get rid of the ZOOM. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Needs a little more tweaking? Review: TOSHIBA DVD GREAT UNIT; BUT IT NEEDS A LITTLE MORE TWEAKING BY TOSHIBA. WHEN ZOOM FEATURE TURNED ON " WORDS STAY ON LOWER RIGHT OF SCREEN" " ZOOM 1, 2, OR 3. IT NEVER LEAVES THE SCREEN. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FADE OUT FEATURE. ALSO WHEN YOU TURN OVER DVD; ZOOM FEATURE MUST BE RESET.
