Summary: An excellent choice backed by a brand name you can trust.
Review: I purchased this DVD player in August of 1999, and have used it many times since then without any problems. The sound and audio quality are immaculate, and the features (such as component video output) that accompany this player are incredible for the bargain price. An interesting note: Not only can this player decode the amazing DTS 5.1 digital soundtracks (available on selected DVDs), but it can also decode DTS CDs (such as Sting's "Brand New Day" which was recently released with DTS 5.1 format). The quality of sound that the DTS CD produces is unlike any other that I have ever experienced before! One is completely enveloped in clean and defining sound, perfectly complemented by the proper amount of Bass. Bottom line: This player is an excellent choice for purchase and is backed by a brand name you can trust.

Summary: excellent sonics
Review: I use my player for music and movies both, so audio quality is very important to me. I did an a/b comparison with this unit and similarly priced toshiba unit, and the panasonic had far superioir detail, stereo imaging, and was also much smoother and easier to listen to. I have a panasonic LD player which has performed very well for me, but my cds sound much better on my DVD-A120. When I was seeling home audio two years ago, our best sounding $300 cd only players (NAD, Marantz, Harmon Kardon) didn't sound and better.

Summary: Stopped working after 7 months!
Review: I thought I was buying a nice DVD player, one that wasn'tcheap, but not expensive. I bought it in September, and here it isjust April and it has stopped working! I kept it in an entertainment center with a glass door covering it, so I know it is nothing I did. When I put a DVD in, it says "NO DISC". It won't read the disc. Please, if you get this player, get an extended warranty, at the very least.

Summary: First DVD Player
Review: I bought this player on impulse. I was anxious to have aplayer and was going to buy just that, but my regular dealer showed methe player, Technics receiver and Dolby/DTS digital processor. My Onkyo receiver which has performed flawlessly for over 8 years is not digital ready. I fully expected the player to go awry first, but as it turned out, after 1-1/2 years, the receiver blew its center channel. My dealer replaced the receiver, and sent the defective one back to the manufacturer at no cost to me (just the work involved rewiring the systems). The Panasonic player has performed w/o flaw, and, believe me, it is used virtually every day! Assuming the DVD title is good to begin with, the picture and sound are fantastic. Would recommend it to anyone at any time! END

Summary: black screen
Review: Good sound and image, but black screen appears every time the skip button is pressed. It remains unless the slow motion button is touched.

Summary: Not Made to Last :-(
Review: I owned a Panasonic A110 for 16 months. For that time, the unit functioned flawlessly and I was very happy with it.

Then the OPU (Optical Pickup Unit) failed like everyone elses (cost to repair: $225!). This is a well documented problem with the A110, A115, A120 and A310 series. Most newer players have a corrected OPU, but watch out.

I have since purchased a Sony S550D which I have been very pleased with!

Summary: You must have bad DVDs
Review: I have the A310 and am looking to replace it after about 18 months. It skips periodically and freezes up. More often than not when I put a new disc in it tells me it's the wrong format. The Panasonic rep insists I have bad DVDs. Can't explain why they play on my computer DVD and not the Panasonic, though. Panasonic is not on my list for a replacement. Sad. Like many others I used to be a Panasonic/Matsushita fan. At least I can still use it as a single-disc CD player....

Summary: Great Product for the Price
Review: I have an A120 Panasonic DVD player and I think for the price I paid it is one great machine. A few maintanence things that are helpful is just using a cd cleaner once a month. I don't have any problems with anything else in its performance. It is simple to use and its DTS is amazing. Other brands have more complicated options on them and that drives up the price. But for your basic home theater you can't beat the price and the quality. Just take care of it!

Summary: Looks can be deceiving
Review: I bought the A110 model around a year and half ago. At first, it played well; I was impressed with the quality of video, not to mention the excellent sound I got out of my Bose speakers. Anyways, the honeymoon is over; I am not impressed anymore. It skips, pixels, does not turn off sometimes, makes a strange grinding noise. I use it mostly for music CDs. I am almost afraid of playing a DVD with friends over for fear that it may stop.
