Summary: very good dvd
Review: The perfect dvd for those who also own a sony digital camera. You get the best of both worlds. A great prog. scan dvd and you can also view pictures on your tv.

Summary: Fairly easy to setup - gorgeous to look at
Review: There is a slight delay after you make your selection on the remote, but I think this is standard for DVD players. I am having a bit of trouble finding the full title listings on my mp3 disks, and the instructions have a small typo, which doesn't help my search for the correct solution. All I get for the mp3 tracks are numbers.

Regarding the remotes: The small remote has keys that glow in the dark - although they are not "lit" internally.

All in all, I am satisfied with this player.

Summary: Caution to Digital Camera Owners
Review: This DVD player has serious limitations as a JPEG player. CDs can have no more than 50MB per directory. Picture file size is limited to 150KB. Additionally this player is very slow at processing JPEGs.

Summary: Good for DVDs only
Review: This DVD player played my DVDs just fine, but it had big problems with Audio CDs and Photo CDs.

For DVDs, it works well. The remote is very well laid out, so I can keep my eyes on the TV while I'm using the remote. (All remotes should be this well designed.) Unfortunately, the joystick (which takes the place of the directional buttons) is a bit unreliable. I often have to jiggle it to get it to go they way I'm pushing it. This is annoying, but it has a second "mini" remote with ordinary buttons that work fine. Still, switching between two remotes is annoying.

The most useful feature is the "Instant Replay" button, which I LOVE. If I miss a bit of dialog because of room noise, I just hit instant replay, and it jumps back ten seconds.

For Photo CDs, it's pretty bad. It takes forever to load the pictures, and the controls for zooming and panning are so amazingly awkward to use that they're not worth it.

For Audio CDs, it's completely unacceptable. It cuts off the last two seconds of each audio track. You may not notice this on a lot of tracks because the song fades out or has two or three seconds of silence anyway, but for songs that play to the end if the track it's infuriating. I had to take it back.

I never used the memory stick or progressive scan, so I can't comment on them. I couldn't get the 3D audio to do anything.

If you're not interested in playing audio or photo CDs, it's a perfectly acceptable DVD player with a good remote control. But for audio and JPEG, it stinks.

Summary: First DVD
Review: This is the first dvd player we have purchased - we have been resiting for a long time. We did not do a lot of comparison shopping, but this did seem to be a good buy for the money. We have been happy so far, and can not think of a single critisism. Not only does it look nice, but the image quality is really something. The additional bonus is that while we bought it on Amazon[.com] in the evening, we were able to pick it up the next morning from Circuit City, without waiting or dealing with sales people - it was a breeze. The added convenience of not having to deal with shipping here or back if there were a problem was a key factor for us, also.

Summary: Just Bought Another One! This One For Me!
Review: This is the second review that I have written for this DVD Player. The first one was written because my son had been so happy with the one we gave him in July for his birthday. He praised it so highly, I wanted one also, though I already had two
DVD Players. So I thought up a good excuse to get my husband to let me buy another one, I told him I needed to have one in the room that I iron in, since I do a lot of ironing, and this worked! I bought it a week ago last Sunday, and have watched only a couple of movies so far, but I have to say that my son's praise was justified, it is a really good DVD Player. The cable hookup in the room where we have the new Player is not good, every channel has snow on it, though it is a fairly new TV, but when I watched "Kate & Leopold" through the new DVD Player, it was a perfect picture! I was very pleased with the quality and clarity of the picture. I can't wait to do some more ironing in that room so I can watch another movie on my new Samsung DVD Player! And I love the silver streamlined case it is in. And a really classy feature that our son had not mentioned to me is that it has the brand name in raised lettering on the top of it, and since mine is not encased inside a shelf with a top cover over it, (it sits on a long table beside the TV, with the top of it in plain view) it really looks great when you walk in the room and look down on it. Maybe I am silly, but I think that gives it a more expensive look. It is the first one I have seen to have the name engraved on top of the metal case. I still don't know anymore about the technical features than when I wrote the first review, but I do know from first hand experience now what a great picture you will get with this DVD Player. And one other feature that it has that my other two DVD Players do not have, is that when I have to stop watching the movie because I have to leave the room for one reason or another, when I return, even if it is two days later, the movie starts at exactly the point where it was when I punched the "STOP" button. I don't have to "Search" or "Scan" to get back to where I left off. Neither of my other two players do this, they both will start back at the beginning if I have to cut the DVD Player off and then restart later. My son mentioned this also and said that was something extra that he really liked about it, an added bonus. This DVD Player just can't be beat, as far as I am concerned. It does everything it is supposed to do and does it well!

Summary: Economical DVD player to have.
Review: Wanted to purchase a progressive scan DVD player and settled on this one because of the great price. Bought it middle of February and have had no problems with it so far. Picture quality is great, easy install, able to play all DVD's and CD's in my collection so far, including burned CD's. I haven't been able to test out the memory stick capabilities yet but nice option to have. If you are in the market for progressive scan DVD under $..., I would recommend this one. It's sleek, compact and easy to hook up. The main remote is a little clunky with the toggle selector but a minor design flaw.
