Summary: Reads all media...but junk
Review: Unit reads DVD-R and MP3 cds without a hitch. After 5 months, the unit would not read any discs and would power off after several minutes. It's now in the trash.

Summary: I like the Panasonic
Review: I like the Panasonic name. I have had 3 panasonic dvd players and only got this to replace my other which went in over a year, mainly it was sitting in too cold of tempature(make sure you store them in room temp).

Like all Panasonics it set up in 5 mins and had a movie going, however, the drawback is that I was looking for S-Video(but not necessary as I have to convert it, mostly looking down the road) and Optical out, which this says it has, well it has Coaxial digital out, not Optical digital out, which is what makes DTS what it is.

I can't comment on the picture quality as I have it running thru a converter, but I wouldn't recommend this for HDTV's as there is no S-Video.

Summary: Confident about this DVD Player
Review: I just purchased my fifth Panasonic DVDS25S. Based on multiple reviews, price, personal experience, and it's ability to play my home-burned DVDs (Nec ND-1100 +R burner), I purchased or recommended one for every member of my family. Amazon currently sells it for the cheapest price when you factor in free shipping and no tax.

Summary: A huge leap from my previous DVD player
Review: I have bought this player to replace a non-progressive one on a 47" rear projection set. The improvement is dramatic, but not, as I expected, in terms of the progressive scan, since I can hardly see a difference switching it on/off, but in terms of overall quality of picture and functionnality. Features like automatic aspect ratio, shifting the subtitles' position (too bad they can only bee shifted downward though) were painfuly missing on my previous Deawoo player.

Summary: Horrible Warranty - Bad Customer Service
Review: Fortunately, this will be my last Panasonic product. I was happy with this DVD player (I don't ask for much) until it stopped reading *any* discs after 6 months. It produced an error on the screen. When I called to find out what the error meant, they said it was "still under warranty" and to send it in, which I did.
After 4 weeks, they contact me to say that only the parts are covered for a year - labor is only 3 months. So the part is covered, but not the labor to put it in! They wanted sixty-five bucks to "fix" my DVD player, which was apparently under warranty.

So, after spending 100 bucks on this unit, it's in the trash after 6 months. BUYER BEWARE - and pray your unit breaks within 90 days.

Summary: Works with everyting I throw at it.
Review: Great DVD Player and a Great Price. I have created many pictures CDs for family and archiving our photos. I have never had a problem playing it on my Panasonic, I can not say the same about my Samsung. I also have had no problem play VCDs and MP3 cds on it.

My only complaint is it does not have Digital audio coaxial output, but the optical works just fine.

I definitely recommend this DVD player

Summary: Good DVD player, Good price!
Review: This is a fairly decent DVD player for a very reasonable price!

Some features that I like:

- Good picture quality, I was very impressed!

-plays multiple formats including DVD-video, DVD-R, JPEG picture disks, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3-encoded CDs.

-DVD player itself is easy to use

-Compatible with almost all televisions, including HDTV

Some things I didn't like:

-Remote is not as easy to use, many other DVD players have more intuitive and user friendly remotes

-Audio isn't as good as many other DVD players

Overall, considering the inexpensive price, the pros far outweigh the cons. It's a great "starter" DVD player, or great for those on a tight budget. Some of the pricier DVD players have more options and work slightly better, but this one is decent. For the price, you can hardly go wrong.

Summary: If you still have an old TV......
Review: I have an old TV so I had to buy a modulator (a small box that conects cords) since it wasn't compatable with the DVD player. The picture quality isn't that great. The buttons on the remote to skip during a video are horrible. Either it moves really slow or too fast, like 30min. of video in 2 seconds. If you click the subtitles button during a movie, you only get the menu, not subtitles.

The most annoying thing is not being able to change the widescreen mode. I read the instruction book and went to the Video tab and saw that it was in Regular mode yet all the movies I watch I'm forced to see in Letterbox style where the picture only uses 1/3 - 1/4 of my screen!!!

Summary: 2 months ok, then problems...
Review: Worked fine for 2 months, then the picture "froze" in the middle of the movie! Had to turn off and on, managed to watch a few more minutes, then froze again... Heard strange noises, like the laser couldn't find the right spot on the disk or the disk spinning problems (motor problems?). Good thing it comes with a whopping 3-month warranty for parts and labor (although parts are covered for a whole year, but the labor would be more than buying a new player...).

Really like the features of the player, it plays all my home-made DVD-R's and VCD's and JPG CD's just fine, but what good is it if it only works for 2 or 3 months? That's pretty crappy quality, not what I would expect from Panasonic. In comparison, I have a 17-year old Technics CD player that still works fine and a 4-year old Sony DVD player that works fine (except it doesn't play the newer formats).

Summary: Excellent video quality
Review: I got this as a second progressive scan ("PS") DVD player and have been very impressed. The price is right, and the overall quality of the player is very good, especially compared to lesser-quality brands like Apex and Samsung. What truly stands out is the video output quality. When connected to a digital TV monitor (EDTV or HDTV) the details from many recent DVDs are just incredible. BTW there's no point hooking up this player (or any PS-capable player) to an old analog NTSC TV since the latter cannot take advantage of the PS signal. Progressive Scan means each time the TV displays a frame of the image, all the lines are displayed, as opposed t NTSC's "interlaced" technology. Not only does PS give smoother, clearer motion pictures, but clean paused pictures as well. The Panasonic DVD-S25K is an outstanding PS player to own.
