Sony DVP-FX701 Portable DVD Player with 7" LCD

Summary: I do not know what Sony was thinking...
Review: I bought mine at CC, and am returning it tomorrow. It only works with half of the DVDs I have tried in it. With the other half (which, by the way, work in a regular Sony DVD and in a Sony Vaio computer), the images froze every other minute, the rewind feature did not work, the scene selection neither, etc. The DVDs I have tried in it are, in many instances new, but still do not work (i.e., Seinfeld, Indiana Jones). When it works, the image is very good, and the sound also, but the infuriating habit of not playing 50% of the DVDs is more that I can stand.

Summary: Great Portable-shop around for better price
Review: I bought this prod from CC about 7 months ago. It is really good. Will play DVD-R & + R discs. And the battery will last as advertised-3 hours. The picture is great & has not malfunctioned yet! But shop around for price. I paid $350.00 at CC and this was not a special sale price. I don't understand the $499.00+ price for this item. If this is what you are looking for in a portable player you will not be disappointed. Sony hit a home run with this item. Just shop around!!

Summary: Have not seen a better unit than this...
Review: I purchased my Sony Port/DVD Player a year ago from CC. Last week I had to take it in to CC to have it returned to Sony for repairs. It started to freeze up as another reviewer stated.

But we have run this thing like crazy for the last 12 months. Between my husband and I we have put at least 750 hours of viewing time into it before this problem occurred. Having purchased the extended maintenance program, if Sony can't fix it I get a new one. To me the price was well worth the enjoyment we have already received from this player, not to mention the future with the repaired/replaced unit. Can't find one better by me...and I looked around alot before purchasing last year.
