Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware. Review: If you're looking to buy a DVD player with an exceptionally clear picture and your TV isn't a JVC, stay well away from this product. After buying this DVD player, I read in the manual that says, "There are some progressive TV and High-Definition TV sets that are not fully compatible with the player, resulting in the unnatural picture when playing back a DVD VIDEO disc in the Progressive scanning mode."They aren't kidding. In fact, they probably aren't being very truthful about this, because I've tried this DVD player on 5 different HDTV sets from different companies including Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and my RCA - all produced the same results, with a poor quality picture rife with heavy compression, artifacting, and motion blurs. Switching over from 480p to 480i with the component inputs makes a minimal difference in terms of the artifacting, but the picture becomes so grainy that it makes watching DVDs impossible. The quality is worse than cable. I've read through the manual about 10 times, I've fidgeted with every menu and setting on the DVD player and the TV, but was unable to get a decent picture. I just tried a Sony DVD player which doesn't even have progressive scan, and using just s-video inputs, the picture quality is vastly superior.
