Summary: Not HDTV...Misleading
Review: This player is capable of displaying 480Progressive on an HDTV. However, 480p is considered "digital" or "enhanced," but definately not "HDTV" or "High Definition." For that, the resolution would need to be 720progressive or 1080i. However, there are currently no DVD players that can properly display those images nor are there any DVDs to buy with those resolutions in them. What a crock and misleading. Target should strip this title immediately!

Summary: Great buy for the price..
Review: This player is fine for viewing on a HDTV. 480p is the standard for dvd signal and with progressive scan just enhances the picture so it looks better. With Component out and digital out this is a great buy. The claim that there is NO such player that can produce a HDTV picture from a dvd player is WRONG. If you want to spend alot more cash you can purchase the Toshiba Progressive Scan DVD Player with HDMI™ Upconversion .

Video Upconversion 720p/1080i - HDMI can support uncompressed digital video up to HDTV level resolution. Thus, the player makes use of this conduit by up-converting the standard DVD picture resolution to nearly HDTV-quality with output resolutions of 720p or 1080i. This makes a DVD player with an HDMI™ connection the perfect match for today's digital televisions. I give 4 out of 5,I just don't understand the HDTV Title for this Unit for advertising. I guess samsung is using progressive scan to target HDTV customers and telling them it's helping the picture out to look better on HDTVs.

Summary: Great DVD player!
Review: Today I bought this DVD player at Best Buy, and it costs only $57, and then I ran down to Target in Janzen Beach to buy Agent Cody Banks on DVD. Me and my girlfriend were watching it together. I liked this DVD player is because it has good quality and is quieter, and it also resume DVDs even the power is off as long as you do not eject the current DVD disc. I'm a DVD collector boy, my girlfriend and I were quit video cassettes and VCRs. Right now I decided to trade in any movies on VHS to The Salvation Army and get the same thing on DVD.
