Summary: Won't stand behind product
Review: After 14 months of on and off problems with machine, I sent it to the service center where I received a bill that was more than the machine was worth. Sony would not stand behind product.

Summary: Unreliable
Review: After one year of use, it refuses to play all DVDs and half of my CDs. Be careful with this one.

Summary: Perfect for limited space
Review: I bought one for my wife last Christmas. This is a great DVD player. It is very compact, and I especially like the fact that it can be used in the horizontal OR vertical position. It comes with a stand for use in the vertical position... which is what we use. It fits nicely on the floor next to our TV stand. If you don't have shelf space for both a VCR and a DVD player, this is a perfect compromise. Also, the front loading "vacuum" feature is pretty neat. You just stick the disk partially into the slot in the front of the unit, and it automatically pulls it the rest of the way in. Ejecting a disk is as simple as pushing one button... No lids to lift or snapping disks into place. Hookups were pretty straight forward, and we have had no performance problems. It's nice the remote has a volume control. Another neat feature is that if you need to stop in the middle of a movie, it will automatically go back to where you left off next time you hit play... or you can flip back to the beginning in seconds. If you don't already own a DVD player, you will love the fact that there is nothing to rewind everytime you rent or watch a video. Only downfall I can think of is that the remote doesn't have a channel changer for the TV.

Summary: still perfect after 2 1/2 years
Review: I bought this player in 2001 and have taken it with me all over the country. It plays my DVDs and CDs perfectly and I've never had a single problem with it. It seems Sony has stopped making any player like it which I think is a shame. Simple to hook up, simple to play, great quality. I travel a lot and used to carry a compact bookshelf stereo with me to my various assignments, but now I just use this with some decent computer speakers and have no complaints. This is one of the smartest electronics purchases I've made in the past 3 years.

Summary: Stylish and Elegant (for a DVD player)
Review: I just bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. We hooked it up last night (in about 20 seconds), set it up on the wall (wow, how cool!), and pushed play. Easy to use, fantastic quality, but most of all... a gorgeous addition to our soundsystem!! Who needs a 10-disc storage for DVDs?? Maybe someone without a life who is going to watch 10 movies in a row... for us, the simplistic and sleek design with the fast and easy hook-up do the job... and then some! Thanks Sony!

Summary: WARNING! DO NOT BUY SONY DVD PLAYER!
Review: I purchased my DVP-735 back in 2000. It was a wonderful "flagship" product, and I even rated it highly on a website such as this. However, since then it has been locking up in every movie that we watch (generally near the end). The irony is that a local agent - Next Electronics charged me > NZ$300 to have the pickup assembly replaced (with a 3 month warranty). Guess what - the damned piece of crap failed after 4 months - even worse than before. SONY, if you are listening, I am not too happy with your product or customer support. The local "Sony Centre" in Wellington seems to brush off faulty product that is beyond its warranty date. Every time my flatmates and I watch a DVD, it locks up - MOST EMBARRASINGLY! DO NOT BUY A SONY DVD PLAYER. If I could go back in time, I would have burnt the NZ$1,100 I spent purchasing this DVD player, rather than suffer its problems.
