Summary: Check out the H07 error problem with Panasonic DVD players
Review: A number of different Panasonic DVD players get the dreaded H07 error code anywhere from 10 months to 1.5 years old. If you google for "panasonic dvd H07" you will see MANY people complaining about the problem. Be sure to check out the problem for this model before you buy.

I am a Panasonic DVD player owner and was happy with its performance until the dreaded H07 error occurred. It is only good for the trash now as repair costs more than buying a new unit. Many other users have had this problem with many different models of Panasonic DVD players made in China. Perhaps their chinese supplier did a shortcut that resulted in the many H07 errors. Just google and check it out.

Summary: Solid DVD player
Review: A solid DVD player that does progress scan when you use the component video output. Quiet and easy to use. Not great if you watch a lot of pirated DVDs because the Panasonic is picky about the quality of the disc.

Summary: setting the record straight
Review: Currently, I own a couple Sony DVD players, but I also respect the Panasonic brand a lot. I've owned a lot of electronics by Panasonic and I've been very satisfied. The reviewers that like to use scare tactics in order to get ppl away from buying Panasonic are complete idiots. The fact is, as far as DVD players are concerned Sony & Panasonic are the 2 top brands for fewest repair history according to consumer reports. Panasonic's are generally the better value cuz Sony often likes to overprice their gear. This model was even just rated the #1 overall single disc model (see Dec. 04 issue pg.25). It achieved an overall score in the "excellent" range and their top marks in tests for picture quality & ease of use. It's an incredible value and ppl looking for a quality inexpensive player should definitely consider it.

Summary: Superior Player
Review: For under $100 you cannot beat this player. It is superior to the models available at the store for the same price such as the S27 but it also has S video and optical inputs. I tested the S25 on my Panasonic LCD TV after viewing DVDs on my non progressive scan Sony player. I saw differences in all three. The S47 had the clearest picture. You must change the setting to 480P from the defaul 480I. Also you can set the DVD to cinema mode, adjust what type of TV (LCD widescreen for example) and I got a perfect picture. Check it out.

Summary: Jeez!
Review: Guy at Radio Shack said this is all region This isn't all region! It's a fine disc player but it's no all region. How will i play all my Korean DVD's? This thing is not all region. Good bargain though if you know you won't be watching anything Korean on it.

Summary: Another unhappy user with H07 error
Review: I hate to say this, because I was happy with my player until tonight, but my player died tonight with the dreaded H07 error. It's just under 2 years old, and now it's trash!

Summary: One of the most feature filled and durable products
Review: I have three different panasonic DVD players, most of them several years old, and all of them subject to abuse by three kids who have stuck dvd's into the players that are covered with crud.

I have never had one single error like the person below claims. The same person seems to have reviewed almost every panasonic player with the same claims. the diction and wording of the cliams is identical. they are trying to make their problem seem like a common problem, which it is not.

As far as made in china being perjorative, that is laughable. Every dvd player is made in china, japan or korea and almost every one, including "japanese made" like sony have their DVD readers and motor components made in china.

I had a sony protable DVD player which had a motor failed after six months. They would not repair it and sent me a "refurbished" with many screen pixels dead, a cover that didn't close right and a left speaker with a hiss. That was $300.

Whenever you see a particullarly strident condemnation of a product on Amazon reviews , check the company's other products and see if you see the same exact language and similar date. I mean did this person actually own the 12 panasonic dvd players and home theaters he reviewed and claimed failed him? I doubt it.

If yo go to videohelp dot com, which reviews all the players, you will see the panasonic has outstanding reviews in dvd format compatability, audio, all the needed outputs AND robustness.

Summary: Excellent DVD Player
Review: I purchased the DVD-S47S about 3 weeks ago and it has been a pleasant surprise. The setup is a must with this DVD player if you want Theater grade video and sound. I have a HDTV, so I wanted to get the best DVD player under $100.00. The advanced progressive scan provides amazing video. You can't go wrong with this DVD player!!

Summary: MP3 bug
Review: I purchased the Panasonic DVD-F87 player in part because the literature said is played MP3 files. Unfortunately, the player inserted an audible blip between many of the MP3 songs, so I returned it and got the Panasonic S47 model. It had the same problem. MP3 discs that played fine on several computer drives, a Sony DVD player and a Phillips portable CD player would hiccup between songs on the Panasonic. Panasonic denied they had a problem, but one of their repair facilities told me that Panasonic's MP3 reader has a bug in their software and Panasonic has not provided a fix (as of September 2004). So, if MP3 playback is important to you, steer away from Panasonic players.
