Summary: What about Dumbledore's wool socks?
Review: Not as good as the book, naturally, but a good screne adaptation. Special effects and scenery were awesome.

Summary: Better than the lousy book
Review: An unimaginative workman-like "Special Effects" rendering of an overbaked derivative hack novel. Sad, sad sad. People don't even know the difference between the product of a truly talented imagination and mere brain sludge. Face it: the books are notable only because they literally vomit "magical" people, objects, places, and animals in one of the most conspicuous cases of literary overkill seen in recent times. Rowling captured the chaos and inanity of a mind-sucking kids sorcery video game on the printed page. Yawn city, in terms of real substantial value. The movie was superior to the book because at least it added technological craft to the mediocrity of the story and the dry-as-old-pieces-of-toast characters. Tasteless hordes will hate this review, but deep down they must know it's the truth. Read and then watch Lord of the Rings to encounter true storytelling power on page and onscreen.

Summary: A Wonderful Outing for the Whole Family
Review: Every year we go to the movies on Christmas day. This year it was spent with Harry Potter. And what a wonderful way to enjoy the Christmas afternoon - the whole family together watching a truly terrific movie, even the 2-year old seemed to like it. For my 5 and 10 year old, it was great. My 10 year old has read all the books and is really a Harry Potter fan. My 5 year old just finished reading the first book (with help from mom) and loved the movie. They both asked to see it again, which we have. It's great to see how they brought the 1st book to life (and really stuck to the story line too). All the actors were wonderful and performed superbly. The movie itself had action, suspense and lots of heart. I definitely recommend it highly for all.

Summary: Movie First
Review: I have to admit that I really loved this movie. I was skeptical at first, I hadn't read the book yet and didn't know how very good it was, but I was soon won over. The story is sweet and keeps your attention, although I did have to have one of my friends who had read the book explain some of the details that the movie left out. I highly recommend this movie with the stipulation that you watch it before you read the book. I think I would have been at least a little dissappointed if I had known just how much isn't in the movie.

Summary: More than one reason to see this movie
Review: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a great family movie.
Some scenes may be frightening to very young viewers, but my 5yo.
was not bothered in the least, and as a result we saw the movie several times. Two of the best things about the movie I feel are: 1) the score. John Williams composes a hauntingly beautiful score that sweeps you up and carries you to a most magical place, Hogwarts. It's not easy to forget the movie score, and every time I hear it, I can still picture the scenes in the movie (the quidditch match, the face of voldermort, and harry's magical world) just to name a few.
The second thing that makes this movie great is the acting. Of course, the veteran actors are outstanding, but I must give a huge thumbs-up to the three newcomers who are the lead roles.
Specifically, young Daniel Radcliffe. In my mind he plays Harry just as he should be - he doesn't "overplay" his character, but actually downplays him. There is a quiet intensity in his portrayal of Harry that comes shining through (although this may not seem apparent if you've only seen the movie once).
He reminds me of the early Harrison Ford movies like "Witness", and some scenes in the Indiana Jones movies. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson add just the right amount of enthusiasm and humor to make great chemistry on screen. Final word: Go see it!

Summary: Anthony Michaels and the MPAA
Review: Harry Potter was a very interesting movie and I thought it was really good, but I thought that the morphing in the movie got a little extreme. Although I understand the movie would have been very difficult to do unless it had kept the morphing in it, I thought it was too extreme for a kids movie. If the movie had been rated PG-13, i don't think I would have minded as much, but it was because it was rated PG that I was kind of suprised about. Don't get me wrong! It was a great movie! Highly recommended, but that is the only reason I gave the movie 4 instead of 5 stars. Other then that, the acting (especially on the kids parts) was really good and the special effects were good. I do suggest you see it, if you already haven't.

Oh.. and the poster is really good. Check it out.

Summary: Harry Potter is FABULOUS!!
Review: I was very skeptical of this movie. From a MOM who had never read the books, I was afraid to take my son to see it. I was afraid it would be very dark (dark magic). I was surprised to find out that it wasn't. My son and I both enjoyed the movie. The director did a fabulous job. Overall, we were very pleased.

Summary: The Best Movie Ever!!!
Review: I can't tell you how much I love this movie. I've seen it twice already and I'm begging my parents to go again. The movie was like reading the book, only you had a really clear view of all the characters. Everyone in the film was perfect for the role! Newcomer Daniel Radcliffe did a marvelous job! The movie has a great soundtrack and tells a terrific story. Many of my classmates, who haven't even read the books, loved it. I can hardly wait for the next one!

Summary: Mom of 5 this was a great Movie!
Review: I loved this movie. I took my 2 sons who are 8 and 11 and a girlfriend who is 11. They all three were totally silent during the course of the movie. NO getting up and down!
Both boys and girls were able to identify with someone in this movie. Not just for boys or girls, but for all.
We will definately buy the DVD when it's released.

Summary: A Whole New World
Review: I never read the harry potter books. I never even knew he existed until all the hype about the movie came out. Being the curious type I went and saw it. Without even reading the books I feel in love with this movie. But what made it even better was realzing just how accurate their portrayls were. I read the book after I saw the movie and noticed that there werent that many differences. They eesentially stayed with the story line. Now I know Harry Potter two is already made ( or being made) and I, for one, cant wait to see if the sequel is as good as the first movie. I loved all four books and I would like to thank the author and the producers of the movie for creating such a vivid and imaginative world for us MUGGLES to experience....
