Summary: sorry but this is what i think
Review: "The Hobbit" is my favorite book in the world and i have read it many times, so i was naturely trilled when i found out there was a movie, i know it is a very hard story to recreate, if the put in every detail it would be too long, and i know the writers did there best but i feel the could have done MUCH better. they left out many important details, some people, and the riddles, what i didn't like the most was the fact that they killed off more thorin and co. then need be, they left 7 alive when in the book 10 were left because only kili and fili (the twins) and thorin died. they left out beron who was i feel very import to the journy and the war at the end. i don't know maybe only i feel this way, because i read the book way too many times and almost know it by hart, but this is what i think you can beg to differ all you want but i think the did do an ok job but could have done better.

Summary: Sticks to the plot, but horribly adapted, with worse music
Review: Put quite simply- this adaption does not even come close to feeling like something from Tolkien. I'll admit, the animation isn't bad (although not really what I pictured when I first read the Hobbit), but if the creators felt they had to dumb down the dialouge as much as they did to appeal to a younger audience then they shouldn't have even bothered, and just let the book speak for itself. I can see where a five or six year old would enjoy this, and if it gets them into Tolkien, all the better I guess. But for anyone looking for a deep, faithful adaption of even the most simple book concerning Middle Earth- AVOID THIS MOVIE

Summary: A good adaptation
Review: The art, music, and even voices might seem odd at first, but this is a very faithful adaptaion of the novel. It captures the feel of the characters perfectly and it's cool actually hearing the goblin song (among others) put to music. If you like the novel of The Hobbit then you should give this film a view. You'd probably enjoy it

Summary: Thought-Provoking
Review: I first saw this movie when i was very little, and many of the parts scared me. For example the scenes where Bilbo and the team of dwarves are being chased by the goblins in the caves, and especially Gollum's scene. I just pick up the movie again when i realized how often my younger brother was watching, and i coudln't STOP watching it. Theg raphics are pretty darn good, and I imagine the story line and scri[pt are as close to the original book as one might get. The Hobbit isn't part of the original Lord of the Rings Series, and I have yet to read the Hobbit. However, i have read all three Lord of the Rings books and found them enticing....

Summary: NO TRUE FAN DISLIKES THIS ADAPTION
Review: WHILE NOT PERFECT, I.E. A FEW CHAPTERS AND CHARACTERS(BEORN FOR EXAMPLE HAS BEEN COMPLETELY REMOVED) HAVE BEEN EDITED OUT. THIS ADAPTION HAS A CHARM THAT CAPTURES TOLKIENS CLASSIC FIRST BOOK IN THE SERIES OF HOBBITS. THE VOICE ACTING IS EXCELLENT. THE ANIMATION IS DISTINCTIVE(IF YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE THUNDERCATS YOU WILL RECOGNIZE THE STYLE ALTHOUGH IT IS FULLER IN THE HOBBIT) SOME OF THE SONGS ARE EVEN LIFTED FROM POEMS IN THE BOOK. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Summary: Okay
Review: I will say that there is won good thing about this movie. It got me interested in The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings which I really enjoyed. But I think they should have waited until technology improved or just put a little more effort into it. Otherwise I say its okay but I think the characters and settings are represented strangely.

Summary: Excellent Animated Movie.
Review: This Movie simply entertains and amazes at the same time. A Hobbit named Bilbo Baggins ( Orson Bean) goes out on a quest with a band of Dwarves lead by Balin ( Hans Conrid) and Gandolf ( John Houston) on a mission to seek a Treasure from the evil Smaug.

A Must see for your kids, it's also a must see for fans of The Last Unicorn.

Summary: Great movie, with a little corky music.
Review: This animated movie is one of my favorites from years ago. The music is a little strange at times. The fantasy/adventure story is EXCELLENT, though. Hobbits, dwarves, goblins, elves, trolls, dragons, even HUMANS! :> It's a great watch, and even enjoyable with the kids! Some kids will have a little harder time getting thru it then others, but my 5 1/2 year old daughter loves it! I am anxiously awaiting for it to come out on DVD, as well as anxiously awaiting the Lord Of The Rings movies to start coming to the theaters this December! :>

Summary: The Hobbit Movie (1978)
Review: I'm 29 years old. I've have a copy of this movie for years. It's getting very worn, and was not good to begin with due to the fact that it was a copy of a copy, but this movie is still great! This is a must have for any Tolkien fan, of any age. I'm going to buy myself a new copy here today. I can hardly wait for it to arrive.

Summary: PURE MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Don't listen to anyone that says this is a bad book to movie conversion. The fact is that believe it or not Rankin and Bass Productions (the Producers of this film) created more Magic than in some spots was even in the book. There is so much amazing genius in this movie I can't believe it. Everyway the movie is setup is utterly astonishing. The Characters are, if you can believe, even more hideous than in the book in the area of the Trolls and Goblins. As are the Spiders and Gollum. The Voices are pure Artistry. The songs and music the way Bilbo's attitude towards his journey is captured perfectly. In my opionion not only did Rankin and Bass do the book justice but they improved it. Some scenes with Smaug and Thorin at the end were not even in the book but yet they are simply amazing. The way Smaug talks and looks, the things he says and how he says them. Just Perfect. And the Trolls Awsome. And The Goblins with their "down down to Goblin town" song are true Horror's. I can't believe that there is Art this amazing in the world. If you like the "style" of this movie, such as drawings, characters, voices, and music, then look for other Rankin and Bass Productions such as "The Return of the King", "The Last Unicorn" and the TV Cartoon Series' "Thundercats" and "Silverhawks".

If you have not seen this movie you are seriously missing out. If you are debating getting it, please trust me it will be worth it.

DONT MISS THIS ONE!!!
