Summary: Rise From "Sorcerer's Stone"!
Review: This has got to be one of the best movies of the year (sure it might be beaten by "The Lord of the Rings", but that is a totally different story). My Drama teacher said that reviewers said that it was a little more intense than the first. I would call millions of spiders and a 60-foot long snake a "little more intense".
This year, Harry and his friends return to Hogwarts, but something evil has returned. Something is turning students to stone (not really, but it seems like it). There are more twists, turns, and scary things in "Secrets" than "Stone". I smell excitement!
The cast is wonderful! The new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher (in case you never heard of the Rowling Gag: Hogwarts can't keep a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher for more than a year), Gilderoy Lockhart, is a total dweeb. Kenneth Branaugh is hysterical. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are better than in the first one. [Spoiler!!] Stay in the theater after the credits. There is a hilarious surprise (You'll love it!!!) I would give this a 10 stars if there wasn't a limit.

Summary: A lot fun and overall true to the book...
Review: "Chamber of Secrets" has many wonderful special effects, lots of magic (of course) and some pretty decent story telling. The movie seemed to move a bit too fast at times, causing some time flow issues (perhaps due to the greater length of the book as compared to "The Sorcerer's Stone"). I heard one young viewer arguing that the action in this movie had taken place over a few days, versus the actual many months that the movie attempted to relate. Also, there were some wonderful bits in the book that didn't make it onto the screen. I can only assume this is due to time contraints. The movie ran nearly 2.5 hours as it is. These are relatively minor flaws, however, and overall I found the movie to be most enjoyable.

It should be noted that my 9 1/2 year-old states "this is the best movie I've ever seen in my life and I vow to never like any of the others as much as this one."

Summary: Darker than the first movie....
Review: Of course, the book is always better than the movie. However, this movie succeded in keeping alot of what happened in the book, nearly in order too. There were a couple of things which could've been emphesized (such as the classmates' fear of harry after the wizard duel) but since the movie is 2 hours and 40 minutes, i'm sure they were eager to trim it down.

First off, if you think the first movie was dark and could scare kids easily then you might have some problems with this one. people with Arachniphobia might squirm through a very creepy and intense segment where Harry and Ron are chased by millions of giant spiders, and people scared of snakes might get the willies from the climatic battle. The bottom line is the filmakers didn't sugar-coat anything, and the violent parts of the book are interpited quite realistically on the screen this time around.

This movie runs at a great pace (mostly because they had so much to cover in so little time) and all of the actors fit right into their rolls. Even dumbledore (who didn't want to be in the Harry Potter world) seems to have taken a liking to his character and adds a charm which was missing in the first movie. The casting director picked people who were well suited to their rolls. Darco's Father comes accross very menicinly and Gilfroy Lockheart is a complete pompus jerk.

On the technical side, the animators did a skillfull job with the CGI, blending it seamlessly with animatronic robots. Dobby the house elf, although we know he is CGI, is animated with much more feeling and expression in his face than the dumb jar-jar's of the Star Wars sagas. It is good to know that filmakers haven't completely abandoned animatronics for fake CGI.

On the whole, it is a great movie which follows the Harry Potter book accurately. Though purists will argue over slight modifications and exclusions, it is still a movie that all can enjoy!

Summary: Awesome follow up to first movie...
Review: This movie was great. Unlike the first film, chamber of secrets jumps into the plot right off the bat. It takes the time to briefly re-introduce old characters and many new characters are introduced, such as Lucius Malfoy, Ginny Weasley, Gilderoy Lockheart, Moaning murtle, and Colin Creevey. I thought they kept to the book very well. And obviously chris columbus did a much better job on the visual appeal of this movie. The graphics were amazing. I will say that this film has many scary/semiviolent scenes in it which just help to keep up the suspense. The acting was wonderful, and there was plenty of comedy. For a all around great time. I will definatly recommend this movie for all veiwers.

Summary: Farewell to Dumbledore
Review: As the movie ended I was filled with a sense of well being, Harry Potter and the chamber of Secrets is much better than the first film. Daniel Radcliffe is still finding it difficult to act naturally. Richard Harris however is his wonderful self. I was thinking these thoughts as the credits started to roll..... and then I reliesed that we will no longer see Richard Harris in any film or on stage again. I stayed until all the credits had gone, but no dedication (the final reel had proberly already been produced, I normally like most people stand up and walk away when the credits start, but this time I sat there till the very end, much to the annoyance of my friends, but I think we owe it to Richard Harris who disliked Harry Potter but did it wondefully none the less. Go see the film it was great (two towers will be the one to wait for however), watch the film, but as a mark of respect wait until the credits finish and remember a great talented actor.

Summary: More entertaining and action packed movie than the first
Review: After reading all four of the Harry Potter books, I was all hyped up for the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I would see adds everywhere promoting the movie, and by the time the Sorcerer's Stone finished, I was dissatisfied with all the hype that it had built up.

This should not be said for the Chamber of Secrets, though, because there was very little publicity that I saw before the movie. But besides that, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is an amazing movie. It is much better than the first, and much more action packed for those that might have fallen asleep during the Sorcerer's Stone.

I would like to say that I believe I got more out of the movie after reading the books, because sometimes it would switch from point A to point B and those that have not read the book would be somewhat confused. Also, if you have read the books, you will catch some things that are not in the movie, an example would be the Deathday Party for Sir Nicholas, which I am dissapointed that they left this out.

But all in all, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a movie not to miss. DO NOT let the Sorcerer's Stone have any bearing on whether or not to see this movie, because they are totally different and the Chamber of Secrets is much much better. If tickets are still availiable for the next possible showtime, run out and get them!

Summary: Doesn't feel like 3 hours!
Review: it is fast-moving, exciting, never-boring entertainment for older kids, teens and adults. So, what's so great about this movie? Well, for me a large part of it is Alan Rickman/Snape. He is just so hot...and plays the role to perfection. But aside from that, the movie covers all the important points in the book. The animation is very real...Dobby was particularly impressive. They did a great job making him. Lucius Malfoy was a very threatening character, as was Tom Riddle. Now, some of the characters were different than I'd pictured them. I thought Moaning Myrtle should be fatter and the basilisk would look more like a cobra. But everything came off really well just the way they did it. The scenes with Aragog and the flying car were pretty scary, I must admit, but this film lived up to everything it promised: longer, yes. Darker and scarier? You bet. Geared more toward older people? Probably a bit. Less explaining and more jumping right into the story? Oh, yes! And funnier??? YES. This movie is very funny. If you've never read the book Kenneth Branagh still gets the basic personality across to you. So thumbs up to CoS, we can't wait for the next one!

Summary: A lot better than the first
Review: Last night I saw 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'. I obviously had high expectations as it is an excellent book and they had to make it an excellent movie. I saw the first movie, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone' and enjoyed it, but this was seriously twice as good. I didn't think the book was twice as good as the first, but they really made the movie good.

The effects were as good as ever. The Quidditch match was excellent, Dobby was funny, the giant spiders, the slugs coming out of Ron's mouth, the flying car, the snake, the willow tree, the mandrakes, all very good.

I thought the beginning was funny because Harry was so much bigger than the first, and Ron's voice had broken, but I got used to it. I also couldn't help laughing when I saw Draco Malfoy. I know he' supposed to be mean, but what's wrong with Draco's hair? Another amusing scene was when Crabbe and Goyle just happened to see some food floating in the air and they eat it. Ron's wand backfiring also made me laugh.

The movie was also better because in the previous movie, I noticed a lot of scenes being cut out, especially in the beginning but it was not the case in this movie.

Finally, Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore who recently died played an excellent part. He was an excellent Dumbledore, and I doubt the next one will be as good.

Overall, I loved 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' and everyone should see it because it's a great movie that nobody should miss. 5 stars definitely.

Also, stay until after the end credits for guarenteed laughs.
