Summary: Classic
Review: This movie is definately a classic. I guess it's somewhat made to be a kids movie... but I'm not sure I'd be letting my kids watch it with David Bowie wearing those tights the whole time. Not that I really mind personally... but some might not consider that appropriate for kids to see. Anyway, great movie for laughs and David Bowie lovers. I mean really, how can you resist him? He's a good actor and a great singer. And... well... again, the thing with the tights.... :p

Review: I just wanted to point out to fans of "Star Trek, The Next Generation" that there's an interesting surprise in the behind-the-scenes documentary on the DVD. Hint: The Dancing Doctor.

Summary: My Favorite Movie!!!!!!!!
Review: This is defenently my favorite movie. I think this is David Bowie's best work. The goblin king displays David perfectly. The leather and all the other stuff he wears is so cool. The style of hair he has is my favorite of all the different cuts he has had done. I recommend this movie to everybody; it's just an amazing piece of work.

Summary: Pure Genius!!!!!
Review: Jim Henson's Labyrinth starring David Bowie, and Jennifer Connelly is a complete classic. Jennifer Connelly has to save her little brother, Toby from the Goblin king, David Bowie. David Bowie's songs and collection of tight pants is worth the movie alone, plus jennifer Connelly is so Hot!!!! Don't hesitate to buy this movie because it is pure genius!!!!!!

Summary: One of my favorite movies of all time!
Review: I grew up watching this movie almost daily. I absolutely love it.

Sarah (A young an then unknown Jennifer Connelly) plays Sarah, a teenage girl wrapped up in a dream world who wishes that her baby brother be taken by the Goblin King (played by David Bowie). But when he is actually taken she is shocked. "I didn't mean it!" she says! The Goblin King gives her 24 hours to find her way through the labyrinth which leads to his castle, where he is keeping the baby - if she does not make it he will turn her baby brother into one of his goblins forever. So, Sara embarks on a journey where everything that could go wrong does go wrong all while making a great bunch of muppet friends along the way.

Everyone that I know that has seen this movie has a ton of fond memories of it. How could you not? It's one of Jim Henson's greats! Recommended for the whole family! Young and old!

Summary: Labryinth the fantasy!
Review: I love this movie! I must have watched a hundred times. I like the fact that it was funny, sad and wierd all at the same time. I grew up on this movie in the eighties and till this day I still crave to watch, especially David Bowie as he is as hot as he ever has been. I like how realistic some of the puppets were. Watching it on dvd is alot nicer than a vhs. The plot of the movie kept me wanting to know what happened next. I personally belive that the movie fell together perfectly. The end of the movie turned out to be not what I thought it would be. It was better! I love happy endings and I love the Labryinth.

Summary: A Labyrinth of Annoying Puppets
Review: Of the four feature films directed by the amazing, multi-talented Jim Henson, this is his worst. Unlike the first two, which were Muppets features, "Labyrinth" is a fantasy film. Like its predecessor "The Dark Crystal" (1982), "Labyrinth" is a technical marvel. But unlike "The Dark Crystal", it's not very good.

The film is marred by cheesy songs courtesy of David Bowie, amateur acting courtesy of a 14-year-old Jennifer Connelly and some of the ugliest, most annoying puppets I've ever seen. I actually like Bowie, Connelly and Henson, but "Labyrinth" is a low point for all of them.

One of the major characters in the film is a repulsive-looking dwarf-thing named Hoggle. Hoggle is really just a little person with a giant, remote-controlled puppet head. The head, which took five people to operate, really does come to life. Unfortunately, it's ugly as sin. Hoggle bothered me, a lot.

As bothersome as he is, Hoggle isn't the most irritating puppet in the film. Take the "fire creatures", or whatever they're called, who dance, sing, remove their heads, toss them around, and just generally annoy and repulse. They were filmed on a black background and then edited onto a forest scene, and it looks really obvious. As if all of that weren't awful enough, Bowie provides them with one of the worst songs I've heard since the theme song for "Big Trouble in Little China".

Not all of the puppets are this irksome, but none have the charm of most other Henson creations. And what charm a few of them do have seems a little forced. Give me Kermit or Yoda any day.

On a brighter note, the premise of the film is interesting. Sarah has to solve little puzzles in order to find her way through the Labyrinth to the castle of the Goblin King (Bowie). I think if the movie had spent more time on the puzzles and less on the annoying puppets, I would've liked it more.

As for the acting, like I said, Connelly is amateur. She overdoes it quite a bit, especially in the beginning of the film (probably early in the shoot). Bowie, on the other hand, is great as the Goblin King - but only when he's not singing.

As for the DVD, I found the making-of documentary much more enjoyable than the actual film. In fact, my respect for the film climbed just a bit after seeing all the hard work that was put into it. Jim Henson really does seem like one of the nicest, kindest people ever. I feel so bad for not enjoying his film!

The bottom line is, unless you love fantasy films, puppets or David Bowie, I would steer clear of "Labyrinth". Even if you like all of these things, which I do to varying degrees, this film still may not appeal to you. It's a case of the total being much less than the sum of its parts. I'd check out "The Dark Crystal" instead.

Summary: Labyrinth
Review: Although the direction and photography is somewhat dull in some spots, I find this movie one of my favourite movies of all time.
Jennifer Connelly's performance as Sarah is truly mesmerizing, and David Bowie makes a great performance as the evil Goblin King, Jared. The music in this film, soundtrack and actual songs,
are very cool and add to the incredible atmosphere of this fantasy film. I love this film, and always will. Another true classic.
