Summary: Never stop loving fantasy
Review: I always loved this movie I watched it as a child who was a big fan of unicorns. The storyline is great and the actors excellent and for that time the special effects were also satisfactory.

Summary: Not really a review
Review: This is a warning!
The DVD cases tend to have a "mold line" right where you put the american release disk. This will scratch your disc and cause serious problems.
This may be fixed on newer releases, I don'd know.
It can be fixed by removing the molding line with some fine grit sand paper, but your disk may already be scratched when you get it.
I know of several people who have had this problem, and several who have not.
At any rate, HANDLE WITH CARE until you have had a chance to inspect your case.

Summary: A GREAT movie not meant for ALL children. . .
Review: For the reviewer who rated "Legend" one star because her daughter started "screaming & crying within three minutes of the movie beginning," you should still watch it without your daughter in the room. It's a pretty good movie. Some kids can handle it. Others can't. The rating is PG. Not G. That should've been a heads up.

Summary: Slow, and unimaginative
Review: If you absolutly must see this movie, rent it. Otherwise, don't waste your money, I regret wasting mine. The story was trite, and the characters were dull and lifeless (Save Tim Curry). I could not find one good aspect of this movie. It was a waste of talent, and a waste of production money. Tim Curry's character's costume, looked like a bad Horror movie costume.

I almost turned it off with in five minutes of the movie when Tom Crusie's character appeared (he looked a lot like Peter Pan in tight tights).

Summary: Ridley Scott's Worst
Review: This is Ridley Scott's absolute WORST. I realize that this film has a strong fan following, but I have to say it: this sloppy mess of a movie is just plain horrid. The storyline is so cheesy and insane. I realize that fantasy movies are supposed to be cheesy, but come on. The dialogue is excrutiating to listen to. I cannot recommend this movie to anyone. The acting, with the possible exception of Tim Curry, is atrocious.
But it's not ALL bad. The effects are wonderful, and Ridley Scott's visual style makes this movie very easy on the eyes. But great special effects don't make a great movie. If you want to see a great fantasy movie, I would recommend Lord of the Rings instead of this unintelligible mess. Oh, by the way, I belivieve an earlier reviewer said this was a great movie to show to your children. DON'T, unless you want them to have nightmares until they're 30.

Summary: Clarification on film versions....
Review: Well this DVD is certainly a love or hate purchase.
Legend is a masterful film that fell victim to the "Suits" of the film world. But that has now been fixed.
First the directors cut is not a completely new edit but the original first cut of the film before it was cut for the European version and then again chopped and a new score added for the US. So what we have here folks is, for the most part, the original original edit of this film. Not a film where scenes were thrown back in, if anyone has seen the original Euro version (I have)the US may have lost more story but we got a vastly superior edit way back when.
As for the music scores, well I like the Jerry Goldsmith score 100 times better than I used to after seeing the 114 minute version but I still favor the TD score as the most mysterious and haunting of the two. I wish there had been a way to get a melding of the scores but as this wasn't a totaly new edit of the film they used what they had on the original 114 minute version. I also know both TD and Jerry G. were not thrilled with how their scores were handled for this film.
Is this film for kids? Good heavens NO! Children under ten should not see this film unless their parents are sure some of the trully spooky bad guys aren't going to give them nightmares! If anyone tells you this movie is great for kids they obviously don't realize how terrifying Blix, Darkness and Meg Mucklebones can bee to a small child, no to mention the dark aspects of the film and the seductive quality that Tim Curry put into his performance of Darkness.
PLEASE please if you have children watch this film first to make sure it will not frighten them. Not all kids are the same what is wonderful to some, is terrifying to another! Heck the same is true for adults!!!
The DVD is amazingly full of fun info, documentaries deleted clips and other info, I love that they also put the original US release so that if you prefer that one you can watch that instead of the 114 minute version and still get all the extras!

Summary: I am truly horrified
Review: "You'll love it, & if you have kids they will love it too"????????? It is that line that forces me to post a review, other wise I never would. My daughter was screaming & crying within three minutes of the movie beginning. I ripped up the film tape. I will recommend this to NO ONE.

Summary: I Think You Had To Be There
Review: First, let me state for the record that I saw this on TV, with the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. I suspect this is another case of "if you saw it when it was new you love it, but if you're only seeing it now it can't get a fair shake." The plot was thin, and the effects were rather corny/campy. The unicorns were very good, but Tom looks goofy with glitter all over him (and I didn't find his acting in this case to be very believable, though if you adore him you'll want it anyway because he's so young in this). The girl shows some intelligence and spirit in her interaction with the demon at the final showdown, but the demon was really stupid to believe she was totally won over to his side that quickly. A lot of the special effects and makeup (especially on the demon's sidekicks/minions) are painfully obvious.

If I'd seen it when I was younger, I might be more able to overlook its flaws. It isn't really fair to compare it to modern films, but it's impossible to avoid it.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This is an epic film, when the magic was forgotten from the movies, it has all the elements that make this movie an amazing film, create with basics elements of special effects and more acting from the crew. This film particulary make me feel the children inside me and I enjoy a lot this magic adventure, trusting the good guy survive at the end.
