Summary: Don't be fooled - the american version is better!
Review: Incredible sets and effects (which actually seem MORE impressive now, next to the you-know-it's-not-real CGI of ID4 or Godzilla), and a director who knew how to show Tim Curry off (He really IS the devil).

No-one seemed to realise at the time, but Ridley Scott had done the ultimate frightner film (Alien), the ultimate Sci-Fi film (Blade Runner), and so as a follow up he did the ultimate fantasy film - Legend.

After watching the English version (with John Williams soundtrack instead of T. Dream) for a few years after its' release, we managed to end up with an American one.

Well, I was blown away. The music makes such a difference to the film. Add to that, Darkness seems to be in the film much more, at the expense of scenes with the Swap Monster ("Come to Meg, juicy boy"). If you're looking for the English version, only do so out of curiosity - It's not as good as the original. The differences between the two are staggering - almost every scene is a second take, or with different (sometimes entirely new) characters. For instance, Mia Sara turned out to be a Princess in the English version - in the US, she isn't, and all the characters' speech is adjusted accordingly.

In an ideal world they'll do a special DVD version with both edits making a longer film and keeping the T. Dream soundtrack.

Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?

Summary: Wonderful! You have to see this one.
Review: Legand is a spectacular movie. I love unicorns and things like that. The visual stuff in this movie is wonderful. My favorite guy in the movie has got to be Darkness played by Tim Currey. He was great as an evil character. You will love this movie.

Summary: A review from Mr. Entertainment Lover
Review: This is a beautifully done movie about good versus evil. The story takes place in a magical land filled with dwarves, unicorns, and elves. The two main characters in it are Jack and Lily, two lovers who have only known innocence. All of that changes when an evil deamon named Lord Darkness kidnaps Lily and steals a horn from a unicorn. His goal is to have darkness rule the world. Tim Curry does an excellent performence as Lord Darkness. When I saw it I couldn't believe it was him. He fits the part so well and deserves nominations for best actor. This is a film worth seeing. Although it might scare some younger kids.

Summary: I still think it's great!
Review: When I was five years old I remember Watching this movie with my sister and for weeks afterwards we used to try and do some of the scenes. I still think this movie is really beautiful...espically for kids.

Summary: A visual feast.
Review: Legend is a true visual feast. Tim Curry's portrayal of the Lord of Darkness is incredibly believable. The visual effects, and make-up are dreamlike and sensual, engulfing the viewer into a world of fantasy where evil, once again fails to prevail over good. Tangerine Dream's soundtrack is the perfect appetizer to this fairy-tale, and helps to maintain the dreamlike qualities of Scott's film. Jon Anderson's soaring vocal at the end of the film is the exciting climax to this sensual pastiche.
