Rating: Summary: Excellent ! Great for all ages Review: This movie is topped by only Labyrinth. It has fantasy for the young ( or young at heart;) ) I has big evil baddies and action for grownups. Be adivesed Darkness might scare little tots . I recomend this for children ages 6-100 .
Rating: Summary: Pure Art Review: I loved this movie! Indeed, the plot is simple and straightforward, but the cinematography is a work of art unto itself. The costumes are amazing, especially Tim Curry's Darkness, who, incidentally, is the most interesting character. The soundtrack is beautifully ethereal. A flight of pure fantasy, it is enjoyable and a mandatory addition to any video library!
Rating: Summary: Not bad! Review: My uncle showed me this movie. Not bad. I don't remember it but we used to watch it a lot when I was younger. I think some characters were scary or funny I am not sure. :) Not bad not a movie I would watch all the time.
Rating: Summary: My Ultimate Favorite Movie Review: Legend is a movie with graphics in it that would not start getting used in film till abotu ten years from then. It is the ultimate movie. I still to this day will watch it, then dream of unicorns and magic its awesome.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable fantasy film... Review: One of Tom Cruise's early films and another role for Tim Curry as yet again, a villain. LEGEND is one of those movies where fantasy can overlap into horror and become a dark sinister tale. But with a good story, good acting and briliant F/X, LEGEND is a classic.
Rating: Summary: Magickly delicious Review: This is another one of my favorite movies. I must say, Tim Curry steals every scene he's in, he's just too good at playing villians. This movie is perfect for fantasy fans...and the sound track is wonderful, a perfect companion to the movie. A must have for lovers of mythology, fantasy, unicorns, faeries, and the like.
Rating: Summary: Great Movie for Fantasy Lovers Review: This movie has a dramatic plot and a very enjoyable movie to watch for Sci-Fi Fantasy lovers everywhere.I simply loved it,one of my favorites by far.You can never get tired watching it.
Rating: Summary: Style over Substance Review: Stunning visuals with little behind them, "Legend" is a prime example of why Hollywood doesn't make many fantasy movies. The story is classic: an innocent maiden accidently disrupts the balance of good/evil in the world and it's up to her boyfriend to save her. The script is simplistic and naive while the acting for the most part is fair, if nothing to rave about. Tim Curry as the Prince of Darkness is thoroughly enjoyable, hamming it up quite a bit for the role. Fans who enjoyed Curry in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" will certainly enjoy it. The visuals, scenery and special-effects makeup make the film worth renting because the movie is bascially eye-candy for fantasy fans. Of course, all the glitter in the world (and there is a great deal of glitter in the movie)won't make up for a weak script and annoying, stereotypical characters. The best part of the film is the soundtrack by Tangerine Dream which evokes all the magic and mystery the movie itself aims for and ultimately misses.
Rating: Summary: my absolute favorite movie Review: AS usual, the professional movie reviewers have no idea what to think of a fantasy film. It is beautifully filmed, that they agree on, but the point of the movie is lost on them. Not so myself. The play of light between the good characters is perfect: Jack and Lily, Lily and the unicorn, Jack and the elves, especially Gump. They are loving folk with playful hearts, and the courage to face what might destroy their happiness. Lily is probably the bravest film princess I've ever seen. These displays of good are built alongside and contrasting to the fabulous evil of Tim Curry's Darkness and his despicable servants. I would pay a lot to see the European release; there are clues all over the American release of what was cut from the storyline. What is that globe the Gump holds? Why does the bucket-headed elf have a goat or pig's hoof instead of a hand? Anyway, this is a marvelous film, and just because the story doesn't drill its way into your head like a crusader's mace doesn't mean it's a bad film.
Rating: Summary: holds up well Review: legend is a great film that has held up well over the years. I'm fortunate enough to own a pal copy of the original european version, with Jerry Goldsmith music as opposed to the Tangerine Dream score. Why they ever chose to rescore the film for u.s. release is beyond me. Also, the film has been severely cut for u.s. distribution. All of the songs between Lily and Jack and Lily and the unicorns have been removed, also the seens where Lily is seduced by Darkness have been shortened by about 65 percent. It is also never mentioned that Lily is a princess in the american version. All in all, the american version still suceeds as a great film and a fine example of visual storytelling. If only the director's cut could be released here so that more people could see it.
