Summary: Legend - Missing Footage
Review: I like fantasy films and would give Legend a higher rating except that a lot of the footage originally produced was cut from the final film.

I heard 25 minutes or so of Legend footage was deleted from the American version of the movie, but remained in the British version.

Does anyone know what happened?

Summary: A little known gem of a movie.
Review: This is a little known classic. Tim Curry was superb in his perfomance of Darkness. Mia Sara was beautiful as Lilly.

It's a simple lush fantasy with a beautiful musical score by Tangerine Dream who also did Risky Business.

One of my very favorite movies of all times.

Summary: At long last, the Legend I remember
Review: I remember renting "Legend" years ago and thinking, "Hey this movie is missing bits." And so it was. The version I had seen on cable was the Brit version, not the American Theatrical release. So here it was, I had access to a not quite perfect version of a movie I cherished. But now, on DVD, I can have it all baby! This is a Ridley Scott masterpiece (widely and enthusiastically panned by every critic) that I would put up against any fantasy movie ever made. It's romantic, menacing, and fantastic. Also, it has infiltrated everything I have ever drawn or painted since I was eight years old. I know you all are as expectant as I am, this is going to be great.

Summary: A movie worth the wait
Review: When I saw this movie I was the only one in the theater. I spent large amounts on money, for a 12 year old to see it. I remember a large amount of (...) for Universal in putting out this movie. It was until years later that I found out that the movie had pretty much been cut in two. From 14 reels of film to 7. (...) it is not suprising that universal is taking their own sweet time in getting this out.

Summary: It's worth the wait for a Legend!
Review: Since the 80's, adventure movies for elder kids like 'The NeverEnding Story', 'Labyrinth', 'Indiana Jones 1 -3', 'Hook' became classics all over the world, but it seems like few in Scandinavia knows something about 'Legend'!
'Legend' is a fantastic adventure movie with magnificent creatures, dreamlike settings, ground breaking effects without any CGI, and one of the best villians in a moviegenre like this!
The movie has many scary images, but there are also many funny scenes with the goblins and the satyre!

Summary: Classic 80's Fantasy film
Review: This is a movie that I grew up watching as a kid. I recommend this movie to any fantasy fan. This is also a chance for Tom Cruise fans to see him in action when he was younger.

Summary: STUNNING WORK OF ART....
Review: It is amazing to see how in the eighties, special effects were so advanced as to top some of today's high tech pictures.CGI and computer animation have taken over nowadays, but in most films, you can tell right away where these scenes were rendered. If you have viewed this movie however, you will see scenes, (particularly Darkness' layer) were you just have to wonder how this feat was accomplished. Ridley Scott is phenomenal at flawlessly combining the most beautiful of scenes with utterly unbelievable landscapes and characters. This is one of those rare gems, and it is hard to believe anyone would rate it at less than 5 stars. This movie is the pure essence of youth, of dreams, fantasy and light, but along with these also come nightmares, and Darkness.

Summary: timing error set straight
Review: Well, to set the record straight regading the actual length of the European version, it is actually only 2 (two) minutes longer than the domestic release; however, there is almost 30 minutes of alternate scenes and alternate dialog which makes all the difference in the world and makes the European version infinitely better then the American cut. I have a bootleg recording of this version, which is the basis of my information. I happen to love both scores, but then again, I am a big Tangerine Dream fan. I can't wait to finally get a clean DVD copy of this awesome movie and throw my "boot" away.

Summary: Not a good Fantasy
Review: What is it with this movie? It has the potential to be a great movie because of the caliber of actors and the great scenery, but the plot is too slow for an adult. In fact, a child would really love it except for the fact that there's a demon on it that would scare the Heck out of them and give them nightmares for a week! I was expecting a much better movie.
