Summary: A Beginning To Fantasy
Review: Sebstian, a young boy, goes to the library. He gets a book called the Neverending Story. As he begins to read this book he begins to realize it is no ordinary book. The book depicts a land called Fantasia that is being destroyed by The Nothing. A young warrior is forced to set out and try to save Fantasia. As Sebastian reads on he begins to realize his life is intertwined with the book and he may hold the fate of Fantasia in his hands. This is probably the first well-developed fantasy movie. The movie will stay with you forever.

Summary: ThE NoThInG
Review: When the villain of the movie is "The Nothing" don't expect the movie to have all that much in it. No sword fighting, not really even much fantasy, no swashbuckling, or fair maidens, just a lot of peaking through hole in ceramic dishes, cheap costumes, bad acting, and [bad] dialogue. (It's so bad it will probably make you flinch.) Buy either Princess Bride or Lord of the Rings or just save your money!

Summary: One of the best Family Fantasy films of all time
Review: After watching the movie one can tell that it was a plot to convince america that we are turning into televised slobs and seem to be abandoning the rich and fluid world of the imagination and books. Most of the time these little gags fall flat on their faces. However with Neverending Story it is truely one of a kind in the relm that it has a strong message, and a touching story that one can't help but love.The Neveredning Story starts off with the young boy Bastian who is constantly tormented by a group of bullies. One day as he is running away from them he hides inside of a dusty old book store where he meets an ecentric old book keeper. The old man doesn't like bastian because Bastian is part of the TV era. However Bastian likes to read books. The old man turns his back for a moment and bastian borrows the book the old man was reading the Neverending story. At that point Bastian hides out in the school storage room where he starts to read the book. The story he reads (and of course we witness) is the story of an evil force known as the Nothingis slowly destroying the world of Fantasia. It is up to a young warrior known as Atreu who must journey through out Fantasia and find a way to destroy the Nothing. Along the way he meets up with Falcore the Luck Dragon, the Rock Biter, and an assortment of many other characters in the attemp to save Fantasia. In the End Atreu and BAstian have more in common than they think and it falls into Bastians hands to save Fantasia (the childs imagination). This heart warming and truely awsome tale is one of the best in the field of Fantasy. It is truely a one of a kind and the sequels and remake only taint this wonderful classic. It also leaves a strong message that while TV is fun for a while, the human imagination (helped along by reading novels) is truely the greatest thing available.

Summary: Favorite Movie Ever For Almost Two Decades
Review: I have always said "They just don't make movies like this anymore" and it's true. It is not entirely consistent with the book and it does leave off at a point from which the sadly lacking sequel picks up, but it's an amazing film. The creatures, the characters and the story are all wonderful and breathtaking. They really just do NOT make them like this anymore. This has been my all-time favorite movie since it first came out when I was about ten. Being a movie and being limited to a certain time span, they could not include all of the deep intricacies of the book which I have bought four or five times and read at least five times. One of the few other stories I can compare this with is "The Little Prince". Children will find it delightful--that goes without saying--but only someone who has aged in years and otherwise is likely to appreciate the profound lessons behind the story. The same goes also with "The Little Prince". If you're like me, you may also comprehend this story (although, more so, the book) to a degree which is actually almost depressing. Sometimes, the harsh truth about reality can only be best conveyed through fantasy and make-believe. The NeverEnding Story seems to boil down to the matter of how youth and innocence is taken from you as you grow older. In the book, the Gmork, who served under the Nothing, told Atreyu that the only way he could cross over the border from Fantasia ("Fantastica" in the book), was to become a "lie" that children tell and that no one would believe. It's an amazing analogy for all that is special and pure about being young that is forsaken when you get older. If you like this movie, please read the book and read also "The Little Prince".

Summary: The Delights of Nostalgia
Review: I remember watching this when I was, oh, 7 or 8, and having a huge crush on Atreyu. (rewatching it now, I was startled to see how familiar he is, and searched the net to find out what else I'd seen him in...go figure, he was in Battlestar Galactica, too;) Watching the trailer in the special features section (which, BTW, is rather light, like most movies made before DVDs) sent me into delighted giggles. I still found myself crying over the loss of Artax, even though I knew it was coming, and started laughing at myself as I wiped my eyes. Nostalgia is a powerful emotion; even though the soundtrack is obviously 80s synth, I like it. Being trained in cinema, I know that there are many weaknesses in the film, but because I have happy memories of watching it as a child, I simply don't care. I did notice things I missed as a child (Bastian's father drinks raw eggs for breakfast??? ick!) but I still couldn't make out what name Bastian screams into the storm. (somebody else said it was "Moonchild," but I never could tell) I've never read the book, so I can't compare them, but I like this movie because it was child-like fun. (you're never too old to have fun!) The DVD offers full or widescreen depending which side of the DVD you want to play, and a handful of extras about the creature models and actors and the trailer. If you liked it as a child, you'll like the nostalgia. Children may or may not like it, depending how jaded they've become from our modern, special-effects-laden extravaganzas.

Summary: Great fantasy movie for all ages. I'm 18 & I still love it.
Review: The Neverending Story is an awesome fantasy tale about a boy who discovers a mythical book at a library and steals it. He begins reading it and becomes captured into the fantasy world of it. Great entertainment. However, the scene in which the horse dies in the 'swamps of sadness' is a bit depressing. Other than that, this movie is a true classic. Get it.

Summary: I'm confused
Review: When I first heard of this movie I knew I had to go out and buy it. I wondered all the way home from the store, "How did they fit an infinitely long movie on one dvd." When I got home and actually watched the movie, I was shocked. It took nowhere near an infinite amount of time to watch it. If they call it never ending, it really shouldn't ever end. I just heard they have a sequel out, so I'm going out to buy it tomorrow. Maybe they realized their mistake on the second one. I'll know soon enough.

Summary: My favorite movie ever, disappointing DVD
Review: I love this movie, but the DVD was nothing spectacular. Not much in the way of special features, and theres not much else there other than a bit better quality than my VHS edition. It wasn't remastered, it does not have commentary or the sort. Plus I have to agree with the other guy- the book is so much better- but that doenst change my opinion of themmove. I loved it when I was 2 and I love it now. My kids and can watch it together.
So go out and buy this DVD- it'll last forever and you can watch it again and again- but dont expect much else than that.

Summary: The Immortal Story
Review: Being 24 yrs old, whenever anyone asks my favourite film I know that saying "the`The Neverending Story' is one of them" is going to have the same entertainment value; and it's even worse if I try to explain that it's because it's a `multi-layered masterpiece!' But it is: at first glance a kids fantasy, this really has so much more to offer. Based on the book by Michael Ende,it's a tale of self-discovery told through beautifully constructed metaphors and intriguing,lovable characters. This immortal film is one that will change meaning and significance every time and at every age you watch it. Well, it does for me, anyway.

Summary: Majestic, Enchanting, Mezmorizing!!
Review: I seriously don't see how anybody could give this a bad review. This movie is definitly one of the greatest fantasy movies of all time! This movie is more than just entertainment, it carries many lessons that are great if you are trying to find a flick to watch with the children. Contains some of the greatest characters that I've ever seen. It's wonderful storyline will keep you asking yourself questions about the movie. It left me breathless! Amazing! Check it out!
