Summary: The Best Animated Film of All Time! Outstanding....
Review: ...now if only I could find my copy of it!

I feel very strongly that this film is Disney's best ever cartoon and the last of their greats. This means something as I was raised on Disney and while I saw most of the Disney films as a child.

I still feel the Lion King is nothing short of amazing. I've heard people complain that the story is too simple. That nothing much happens. Hello? This is a children's film. If it was complicated they'd lose the kids. There have to be well defined bad guys and good guys. Someone actually said the music in this film is bad? I'm sorry but what exactly do you listen to? Elton John's music in this film is the only good stuff he's done since the seventies. It was nothing short of a return to form and it won enough awards for your comments to be rendered invalid. No Disney film ever has had better music.

The film has a star cast and excellent animation. But where the Lion King gets up and becomes the best of Disney is how it makes you feel about the characters. You care for Simba, you care for Mufasa. ...Yes, the Lion King is the only animated film that has ever mad me cry (Besides Bambi). I never would have thought it possible but Disney had the whole world ...***. If that's not magic , I don't know what is. I fail to understand the people who have rated this film low. 9/10

Summary: best disney movie ever
Review: The Lion King is by far the best Disney movie ever made. I first saw this movie when it first came out, when I was only young. Now I am older and I think I love it even more! It has always been my favourite movie and it always will be - it has it all. A beautiful tale about a young lion club who overcomes his fears and takes his place as King. There is never a dull moment, the story is great, the music is beautiful, the characters are unforgettable. This is a must-see for ALL ages - a brilliant family movie.

Summary: how could they go from this caliber to treasure planet
Review: By far the greatest disney film ever and the most succuessful animated film of all time. it had it all. great plot , great animation that couldnt be replaced by any computer, excellent character design, the best voice acting for an animated film ever, incredible score, everything that made a film great. what citizen kane did for movies today, the lion king did for the animated universe. they raised the bar three times over for a kids film. somewhere in this time , disney got into thinking too much of themselves and believed everything they did was going to sell like crazy. they lost the magic and they started creating some movies of subpar quality like Atlantis, and treasure planet. i wont stray too far away from the movie im rating. it was this movie that set disney apart from other companies and thier work. i hope they get the magic back into filming and soon.

Summary: Hamlet with a happy ending, but violant with one murder
Review: I've rented the VHS edition and have just seen the 2003 New Year's IMAX release which is spectacular.

My (then) three and a half year old found the VHS too scarey. But now at 4 1/4 she loved the IMAX edition and wants to play at being Nala. We are waiting for the DVD, but might have to buy the VHS if Disney doesn't promise an early release date for the DVD.

The plot is familiar:
Hamlet's (Simba's) father (Mustafa) is murdered by Claudius (Skar) about a 1/4 way through the movie, and Hamlet (Simba), still a young cub, is tricked into feeling responsible. He banishes himself and goes off to the desert to die. But is saved and befriended by comic relief side-kicks, Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern (Timon and Puumba) in the desert, where he grows into a confused adolescent, guilt ridden and not knowing his place. He encounters Ophelia (Nala), his childhood playmate, and with a few bits of magic and intervention, Simba decides to face up to his past help rescue his kingdom from the misrule of Skar.

Besides the [demise] of Mustafa, there are three encounters with hyenas. These are scarey, more so than the wolves in Beauty and the Beast, more so than anything in Snow White. The final battle is particularly violant. Parents should be ready with the fast-foward. Still my four year old daughter is fine with it as long as someone holds her hand.

The music is not as good as in Beauty and the Beast, in which every song is a masterpiece. But it is very good. Here it is the background scenery that is so spectacular. And whatever your kid's favorite African animal is, it will be included in there somewhere (though maybe just for a few seconds). It is the grand "Circle of Life" scence that open and conclude the film that really show the full quality of the animation.

Summary: Love Disney........Love The Lion King.
Review: The Lion King is the best disney film EVER. It is sooooo good. From the very start to the finish it is the most moving film in the disney arsenal of motion pictures. Made in 1994, the animation was so crytal clear it is as good as todays disney films.
The VHS of this film is very good, it is the film; a master piece in itself BUT WHEN WILL THE DVD COME OUT!!! as the extra's will be worth the wait I feel. The music if that is your thing is superb, Elton John none the less wrote the large part of the music and in the credits you get his sung version of the songs, but during the animation the music is just as good in true disney style; catchy, extremely catchy and in some places the most evocative and gripping accompanies that almost make the film. I have watched this film many times and I always enjoy it, every time. I am not telling you to buy it, at least rent it to sence it's wonders for yourself.

Summary: Beautiful, funny, intelligent, backed with wonderful music
Review: Children will cheer for the good guys, boo the bad ones. They'll empathize with little Simba, laugh with the friends he develops, cry with his hardships and rejoice in his successes. Adult viewers will find much that is humorous, and garner some food for thought as well.

The songs are adorable! Adults and children alike will sing them and smile.

A note about violence. Some have suggested that this movie is too rough for young children. To the contrary, the action scenes were realistic (remember that this is children's animation!) and necessary. The violence played an unfortunate but requisite role in the "circle of life" the story portrayed.

I may be a bit behind, but am looking forward to viewing the sequel.

Summary: Definitely a masterpiece
Review: I'm not sure why this film resonated so deeply with me, but even though it's animated (and I'm no Disney movie fan -- I don't shun them, it's just not typically my thing), I can honestly say that THE LION KING is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time. It really is that good. I was in my mid-20s when this movie hit the theaters (and ran up some huge box office numbers, if I recall), and I remember being amazed at how many adults were in the theater -- without kids! Like many others, I am eagerly awaiting the DVD release of this wonderful movie.

Summary: Disney's Best Animated Film!
Review: I saw this movie when I was 5 and I still love it! I wasn't a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast because of Gaston. Before I saw the movie, my mom read me the story book, but I didn't quite understand even though she explained it to me. (Guess I wasn't paying attention) This movie might be a little too intense for little kids, but I saw it when I was young in theaters, and I didn't get scared at all! The movie starts off with a great song called the "Cicle of Life" and it goes from there. Mufasa is a great father to Simba and a great leader. James Earl Jones (who did the voice of Darth Vader) does a great job at providng the voice for Mufasa. Scar is the best Disney villian I have ever known. His voice is spine tingling and he so evil. His jealousy, hatred etc. all adds to the flavor of a good villian. The best song in the movie (in my opinion) is Be Prepared. (Scar's Song) Although it might be a little too scary for younger childern. The movie has a great moral to the story, but go and get this movie and figure it out and enjoy it!
