Summary: Well ... how old are you?
Review: Funny-looking animals getting hit over the head. That about covers it.

My seven-year-old thought it was the greatest movie he'd ever seen. I was mildly amused. Once. So: take the kids. They'll love you for it. But if you're expecting Pixar's smart storytelling, adjust your expectations.

Summary: Nice, nice baby!
Review: I saw "Ice Age" recently and was pleasantly surprised. The increasing pressure on Disney is now upped again with Fox Studios releasing a top notch film that is as good as their animated film "Anastasia" a few years back. Starting with the opening sequence, this little animated film got my attention and kept it throughout. With interesting characters, especially the sloth, voiced by John Leguizamo, the story moves along nicely. A strange herd of animals created of misfits find a human baby and work together to return him to his family. Along the way we meet wacky characters, face deception among frineds and are allowed to feast on incredible computer generated visuals. There is an underlying current of death that these character's must face and it is dealt with respectfully and tactfully, a fact of life that children's films sometimes shy away from. I highly recommend this film and look forward to its release on dvd in the future. Child or adult, you will be entertained by this film.

Summary: Very good movie!
Review: Ice Age is an impressive attempt from 20th Century Fox to enter the world of animation (it should be worth noting that Ice Age is 20th Century Fox's final animated movie, since their animation studios has been shut down due to financial difficulties), and they succeed with flying colors. The story is very ingenious and centers on the importance of friendship as the three mammals (a sloth, a mammel, and a sabertooth tiger) return a lost baby to his tribe. The friendship between Mandfed the mammoth and Sid the sloth is very similar to that of Donkey and Shrek in "Shrek," and I enjoyed the scene where the mammals are chasing the baby through the ice caverns. And let's not forget Scrat--he definitely steals the show throughout the movie, and all because he wanted to find a place to bury his acorn.
Ice Age is fabulous, but even this movie, Shrek, and Monsters, Inc. can never top the animation in the movie Toy Story. Still, I do plan on buying the DVD of Ice Age when it comes out later this year (I'm guessing the DVD will be released during the Christmas holidays).

Summary: How do YOU spell cliche? or The Land Before Time Part XXIX
Review: ... There were a lot of children between the ages of 7 and 11 who were having a really good time at this movie. ...

But, my nine year old summed it up when she tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Dad, this is exactly like every Disney cartoon I've ever seen--same jokes, same plot, same characters." That was when my eleven year old looked at me and said, "Lame."

Guess what? They were both right. This movie is a string of cliches and stolen ideas. Each "joke" triggered an "oh brother," rather than a laugh. Granted, there were a few moments that had a spark of humor, and some that even seemed somewhat original, but those points were few and far between. This is an animated movie made by committee. It reeks of having been written by the kind of people who got good grades in school, but didn't have a shred of original thinking or a comic sensibility.

Maybe my reaction was the result of the mood I was in. Comedy films can sometimes fail if you aren't in the right frame of mind. But I went into Ice Age wanting to laugh, wanting to be entertained.

Forgettable voice characterizations, a plot liberally stolen from prior efforts, decent enough animation but nothing to write home about. There is no good reason to see this film. I urge you to avoid it.

Summary: something fresh
Review: this movie's star is Sid. He is a sloth and with his companions he goes on an adventure to return a baby. little does he and the mammoth know that the tiger(who they think is a guide for the traveling) is plotting against them. this movie is smart and fresh, although is 100% predictable. the funniest moments are when sid runs into some rinos and he ruins their salad meal... and when they pact has to change they baby's diapers. those scenes had me laughing real good. in my opinion, this movie is no shrek, but it definately has its moments/laughs. go see it.

Summary: cute, quirky, and the squirrel will crack you up!
Review: I went to see this with two little boys, and two adults. Needless to say, I think the adults and I got more out of it than the kids. It is such a funny/cute movie for any age though. To think that three creatures that are supposed to not communicate could come together just to get a little baby back to the humans is heart warming. Oh and there is always the zany squirrel that pops into scenes every once in a while. Sadly, his acorn always gets away.

Summary: Designed to please...
Review: Since the arrival of computer-generated animation with the likes of 'Toy Story' and 'A Bugs Life', the technology is advancing in leaps and bounds, and ~Ice Age` is certainly a reflection of this fact. Each character is given a distinct personality, a soul, and their life-like expressions and movements can be at times quite startling - add talented voice overs from Ray Ramono and John Leguizamo, and the art form nears excellence.

In ~Ice Age~ we are introduced to three diverse characters that, hopefully, we'll be seeing more of in the future. Meet Sid, a softhearted Sloth with hysteric wit, who attaches himself to Manny, a lumbering Mammoth that reluctantly takes on the task of returning a lost human baby to its family. Of course the villains in this pre-historic tale are the Sabre-toothed tigers that are seeking revenge against the humans for hunting them down for their skins. One of these tigers, Diego, the third member of this comic trio, is given the mission of tracking the baby down alive to bring back to the pack, and in the process, meets up with Manny and Sid - it is here that the laughter and intrigue begins as they move towards their goal.

The dialogue between these characters is a well-timed repartee that is absolutely hilarious. Incorporating that necessary tragedy in the story, even the emotionally staunch might find a tear or two in their eyes at the end of the film. This is a delightful movie that should please audiences of all ages.

Summary: Ice Age is Cool
Review: This is one of the coolest movies I have seen all year. It has John Leguizamo in it as the sloth. He is such a cool actor. The animation is outstanding but not as good as "Monsters, Inc." although I enjoyed Ice Age more than "Monsters." If you're looking for a family movie that everyone will enjoy, go see "Ice Age." It's the coolest. (No pun intended.) I give it five stars.

Summary: MOVE OVER SHREK
Review: Now don't get me wrong, I love the BIG green ogre. He was absolutely hilarious. Shrek was one of my favorite movies last year, and believe me, I see EVERYTHING that's released. So naturally, I had seen the trailers for Ice Age a while ago and had made myself a promise to go and see it. Let me just say that no matter what your age is, you are sure to enjoy this film. I laughed harder at this film (especially at Scrat) than any number of Jim Carrey movies. John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, and Ray Romano are perfect voices. They add humor, sarcasm, and compassion to their characters very well. If you are the type of person that enjoys animated films like Monsters, Inc. or The Land Before Time, you are sure to enjoy this movie. And even if you don't care for "children's" movies, I highly reccommend Ice Age. It's a movie that's just good for a laugh. I guarantee you'll have a good time.

Summary: Wonderful Movie
Review: This movie was clearly just as great as it was to children, and adults. I've seen it 3 times, and I am going to download a copy if possible on the Internet. I seriously couldn't understand why people gave 4 starts, or lower. Maybe they didn't find something they liked personally, but I definitely recommend this movie to everyone. See it, and don't miss out. It's the best thing out there right now in the theater.
