Summary: Saw this on an airplane.
Review: I had my choice, Life as a House, or Ice Age. It was a long flight from Germany to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and I am glad I chose Ice Age. This poor little bit of a sloth gets left behind when the ice age is coming. He is a cute, adorable character, who finally hooks up with a wooly Mammoth. The mammoth, a grumpy old thing, wants nothing to do with the little sloth, but ends up letting him trail along if for no other reason than that he can't seem to get rid of him. Enter another plot. An indian family, with a baby, stalked by lions who want to eat the baby because the Indian family has killed so many of their own for food. It gets hairy here, the sloth, a cunning lion, the mammoth, become a team, determined to return the infant baby they have found to it's parents. Unbeknownst to the sloth and the mammoth, the lion has his own agenda. A delightful tale, and not just for kids. It made my flight delightful.

Summary: A Comedy you might like
Review: If you like Monster Inc., if you like Shrek, if you like Jimmy Neutron, if you like Thomas and the Magic Railroad, and if you like Hey Arnold! the movie, you'll love this movie. 20th Century Fox has got it again and make it a comedy. Almost looks like a Dreamworks Pictures, Artisan Entertainment, Destination Films, Paramount Pictures or a Walt Disney Entertainment.

Summary: "Ice Age": Nice and Cool
Review: Before going into a review, as a fan of animated films, I have to confess that the commercial success of "Ice Age" in USA came to me as great and surprising news. It was because after the disaster of underrated "Titan A.E." (not critically, I mean commercially), 20th Century Fox shut down the animation studio in Arizona, and it seemed Disney's kingdom (or I should say Disney/Pixar) would last forever ... until the advent of delightful "Shrek" from Dreamworks, and now Blue Sky Studio (until now, supplied CGI shots in some parts of "Alien: Ressurention" or "Star Trek: Insurrection") steps in boldly, and made an impressive debut as a feature film with "Ice Age."

And I waited for the Japanese release, and the film turned out better than I expected. The story is not particularly original, but is still pleasantly amusing, and the three main characters are created with adroit touch, much helped by their voice suppliers' talent. Mannmoth Manfred is enlivened by intentionaly wearily uttered but humourous voice of Ray Romano, Sid by corky John Leguizamo, and Saber-tooth tiger Diego by Denis Leary with understated sinister tone. Though such scenes as football game with a school of dodo are too silly, and even those three good leads may look sometimes coming out of stock characters, they are fun to watch indeed. And there's additional comic relief from "Scrat" whose only concern is to store an acon (but always fails to make us all laugh).

But what is most amazing is its CGI shots that are different from that of "Toy Story" or "Monsters Inc." The images of "Ice Age" will be most attractive when the title "ice" appears on the screen; it looks real, and it looks cold, but somehow retains warm touch that only CGI can realize on the screen. As "Monsters Inc." made a revolution with Sully's green-colored furry outlook (as you know, the movement of hair is so complex that they need extraordinary amount of calculating to create that), so "Ice Age" shows a great progress in presenting the soft touch of ice and snow, with their strikingly vivid colors.

My only complaint is that some of the characters presented here (especially humans, which none of any CGI companies in the world ever succeeded in creating convincingly) are not clearly up to the level of other features. Their images, which would be improved sooner or later, pale away beside other great achievement, and that's the reason for one star less. However, "Ice Age" is an unexpected gift from Blue Sky Studio and Fox, which I hope would give more of this kind soon again.

Summary: Not a cold movie
Review: This is one of the best animation stories I've ever watched, and I'm not a big fan of animations.

The story is one big cliche, three very different people(animals in this case), a mamuth, a sloth and a saber-tooth tiger, who, for different reasons, must bring a little human baby back to his parents.

There are some well-thought scenes and jokes, and the little squirrel steals the attention in the beginning of the movie. Although being spoken of as a kid's movie there are some stronger scenes, but just two or three. John Leguizamo is, as ever, great (he transformed "The pest" in a watchable movie) as the Sloth's voice. The end is completely obvious but surprisingly touching.

Watch and have fun.

Summary: Ice Age
Review: This movie is average overall. Everyone thought so highly of it but I thought that the latest Disney animated films easily out did this one five-fold (The Emperor's New Groove and Lilo & Stitch). Ice Age lacks cute characters, I mean they are all horribly ugly, and the one thing that helps this movie the most is the characters interactions. The genuinely funny moments are when Sid and the Wooly Mammoth (sorry can't remember his name right now, the one play be Ray Ramano). The plot is that... Overall this movie is average, and for an animated film it is somewhat decent. I'd recommend this to kids but some adults out there might get bored or what-not.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great kids movie, terrific for older kids and adults, too!
Review: "Ice Age" is a terrific movie for people all ages! "Monster, Inc.", "Shrek", [etc.] have their uniqueness but I must admit that "Ice Age" is up there with them on my list of great animated kids movies

When a baby Eskimo is separated from his clan because of a band of sabre toothed tigers, it's up to a strange band of animals to restore him to his family. There's Manfred the mammoth (Ray Romano), who is a loner yet is forced to travel with his other companions. Sid (John Leguizamo), the sloth who has plenty of laughs up his sleeves. The last of the three members is Diego (Denis Leary), a sabre toothed tiger who is not all that he seems. Will the three be able to bring the baby back to his clan?

Great movie enterainment, I highly recommend for all to see it. It has its very hilarious moments which are too numerous to name. I especially love the banter between Diego and Sid. The characters are so much fun that you can't help but love them and cheer them on. Oh, and check out a very funny squirrel like animal who's only love is an acorn he cannot part with! :)

So all in all, "Ice Age" is lots of fun for the family. This is the type of movie where no one can get bored since the movie has all the elemtents of a great family film; good plot, lots of humor, and a great show of what friendship is. I can't wait till the DVD comes out! I'll definitely get it!

Summary: See it for the squirrel
Review: In the theater, I laughed at the squirrel sequences about as hard as I have in any film. I'm sure to see this one over and over when we get the DVD (for my kids) - I bet I'll be laughing at the squirrel on the umpteenth viewing.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely amazing entertainment.
Review: This movie was a wonderful experience for the whole family. It had a great mixture of comedy and drama that kept me either laughing or glued to my seat to see what would happen. The laughs are non-stop, but they don't detract from the more serious side of the film when it comes into play.
Overall, this movie teaches a lot about friendship and learning to accept people for who they are. It teaches about caring. About doing what's right. About love. You won't be disappointed.
With a sleeper hit like this film, you never know exactly what they've got coming for the DVD. But even if there were no special features included, the movie itself is worth the purchase price.
