Summary: It's a smart movie, something we haven't had lately...
Review: Genius. It's even better than the book, and that's saying something. With more visual gags than Toy Story 1, a script written by, among others, the guys who wrote Aladin, and a genius-level soundtrack, this movie kept even me, a disenchanted male high-school student of 17, entertained. Wonderful characters, great voice acting, and some of the best computer animation there's been in a movie. You can't catch all the jokes the first time around, either. There's a clip on the website that I've seen more than a few times that I'm STILL seeing new stuff on. It was a wonderful experience. I want to go back to the theater. Really.

"Du Lac is... Du Lac is... Du Lac is... the... per... fect... place!" (think Disneyland)

Summary: A truly fun movie
Review: I highly recommend this movie. It's funny and fun to watch. The quality of digital graphics is simply stunning and makes the movie worthwhile just for that; it really is superior to the Toy Story movies. Fortunately, it's not just a special effects wonder. The movie's story stands up on its own too.

It's about Shrek, who's a gruff on the outside but soft inside ogre played my Mike Meyers, who sets off on a quest to rid his swamp of all the fairy tale creatures that have been exiled there, and as his companion for his adventures he has a donkey, voiced by Eddie Murphy.

I would not exactly call this a kid's movie. It is rated PG and they will love it, but most of the humor is actually aimed at adults, and it hits the mark. I laughed all the way through it - something I haven't done at the movies in some time. There are a lot of clever physical gags (pretty much anything that's bodily and gross) centered around Shrek and then there's Murphy's character of the donkey. Murphy's performance here equals anything else he has done. If you are a fan of Eddie Murphy, you won't be disappointed with his character.

This movie is not just one long comedy though. Remember, this is a fairy tale, so there is a romance story going on as well, but it never takes itself too seriously, keeping the movie's light atmosphere from bogging down.

Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona and John Lithgow as the rotten Farquaad are simply superb. All the actors were well picked for their characters.

You won't regret going to see this show. In fact, you may consider going a second time. I know I am.

Summary: WOW
Review: The SFX were flawless and it seemed so real. Every line, especially from that pest of a donkey, is a joke. It's hilarious, but it is only 90 mins and it goes pretty fast, but time flies when you're having fun!

Summary: Absolutely Hysterical ( A 37 year old reviewer)
Review: What can I say? Shrek was fantastic. I have been following the development of this movie for over a year now and knew it would be a movie I enjoyed. And enjoy it I did. Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy are terrific. Don't deprive yourself from seeing this film because you think it's for kids. Adults will get a kick out of it as well. Long Live Shrek!!

Summary: A hilarious flick for adults AND for kids
Review: If you loved Babe or Beauty and the Beast, you'll love SHREK. It's hip, funny and very irreverent. Where else can you see a big green ogre "break wind" in a pond and watch dead fish float to the top of the water?? Kids are going to love this movie, and adults are going to enjoy it just as much. I've seen it twice and would happily go back a third time. Great soundtrack too. This movie WILL be one of the biggest of the entire summer. Guaranteed!

Summary: Shrek Is a Great Time.
Review: This is one of the most enjoyable and halarious movies I have seen in a long time. I saw it the day it came out in theaters with my wife and 9 year-old-son. We loved the movie so much we went to go and see it again the next day and enjoyed it just as much! Shrek is a very likable and reluctant hero who is well-potrayed in the movie. His mannerisms and facial expressions are so detailed. Mike Myer's famous Scottish accent fits Shrek's personality so well. I am sure he will be around to star in a sequel. Eddie Murphy simply steals the show as Shrek's cowardly motor-mouthed side-kick "Donkey" who just want to be Shrek's friend even though Shrek would just like to shut him up in the worst way. Donkey is so funny in the movie! By the middle of the film, Donkey had me laughing so hard I missed little funny parts because my eyes were filled with tears from laughing so hard.

John Lithgow was excellent as the prince with a Napoleon complex that does not escape the notice of Shrek and Donkey. Lithgow's voice fits the prince so well. His funny name will go over most kids head as will many of the jokes in the film( But there is still plenty left for them to get).

Shrek is a fast moving adventure that leaves you begging for more but doesn't drag on. There is lots of action and some fairy-tale romance that the kiddies will appreciate. The computer generation is state of the art, dowm to a single blade of grass. The only flaw in the film is that some of the characters moves like puppets sometimes( the princess mostly being the culprit). I do not understand how the animation with Shrek himself can be doe so well and not some of the other charcters. This little quirk could never tarnish the beauty of this film. Film-goers will just ignore it and enjoy the show, especially if they realize they have never heard their kids laugh so hard.

Summary: Awesome movie
Review: This was a fantastic movie. Not just for kids, I really enjoyed it. Funny and and good storyline too. A must see.

Summary: Twisted fun for adults and children
Review: I loved Shrek! It delivers the multilayered story that characterizes many of the best animations. As an adult, I loved the good-natured pokes at Disney and the animated characters of my youth (Snow White, Tinkerbell, Pinnochio), but all the kids around me were laughing as well.

The story steals from many fairy tales, including The Princess Bride, in a way that is derivative yet fresh, twisting old conventions for humor. Yes, you can see where it's going, but the journey remains fun. The computer animation is excellent. See it with or without kids.

Summary: Fun for Everybody!
Review: How often can you see a cartoon that everyone enjoys that's not some sappy, cheesy, melodramatic musical with dancing teapots and underwater friends? Not often enough, which is why I'm going to see Shrek again! Just saw it tonite, and my friends and I all agreed that it's a fun-for-everybody movie! It pokes fun at the cheesy, stereotypical cartoons and has its own unique style of humor that will make adults laugh just as often as the kids!
