Summary: Magic !
Review: Magical and entertaining. A great family movie. I highly recommend it.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Big success! I liked it!
Review: This was a movie that needed to happen soon. When I first saw it I'll admit I had no idea that it would strike me the way it did. However, I did think it was probably going to be pretty good. It met my strict demands for all movies and then some. The story of Moses seemed to be pretty much accurate in most all aspects, and it was quite skillfully transcribed from its biblical seriousness to a movie style with drama, comic relief, sorrow, and joy instead of just a story-tale genre. The voice acting was chosen well enough to where all the characters moved me in their own individual ways. Why not five? Two reasons. One, The movie was executed so well (very well) that I judged it in a serious manner and not in a children's movie standard. Two, the musical selections were unecessary. The movie would have been fine without them even for a children's movie standpoint. I never have liked musicals in a children's movie. Even when I was a child. It was very boring to me and downgraded most of those types of movies I watched. To put it blountly, this movie was far better than average, but not truly superior or amazingly sensational. Perfect example of a four star movie.

Summary: What history, what Bible history!
Review: As a teacher who has to trick 11 year olds into wishing to learn ancient history, this film is simply brilliant. And not just because of the story itself. The cinematography, the songs (the poetry of which prompt my students in every class to sing along), the sadness and passion in Moses' eyes when he receives his messages from God, the tragic, tender and doomed love between Moses and Ramses, all had an immediate and human impact upon all who watched. There are very human and immediate messages in this film for us all. Dreamworks, keep 'em coming!

Summary: A 5-STAR MOVIE!
Review: This movie is great, why my brother's friend's culture is from Egypt, it should be "TWO THUMBS WAY UP!" I give this movie a perfect 5.

Summary: another view
Review: To all the reviews I've read on this movie, I would like add only one thing. I thought the idea that Moses & Ramesis were close brothers added a very personal & realistic touch to the story. In all my years of having heard the story & seem the different movie adaptations, this close relationship between the two rivals added a very fresh look on an otherwise much-told story. It gave the movie the classic element of personal conflict, and made the movie into more than just another Bible story. Who wouldn't be moved to see the heartbreak that Moses endured in the movie when he had to oppose the brother he loved, now the Pharoah of Egypt? Or to see the conflict Ramesis endured when his beloved brother chose to follow his God rather than return to Egypt? It is a story of people & relationships as well as a story of Biblical teaching.

Summary: Best animated flick
Review: Simply the best animation ever seen (computer characters don't count), only outclassed by the music, and the story of course. Only one cheesy "Disney" moment, with the two "comic relief" characters. Story, with liberties taken, is essentially faithful to the story of exodus. Would recommend to children, even with the death and scary moments.

Summary: I made fun of this film, until I finally watched it!
Review: I'm the guy that you'll usually avoid inviting over for movies. If it's a silly flick, I'll let you know; however, if it's a deep movie with an actual meaning to it, I'll be the films biggest advocate.

This "cartoon" had me skeptical at first. My brother kept telling me, "Joel, just give it a shot, you'll like it!" I laughed and mocked it, until I finally gave in and watched it.

I was mesmerized by this film and believe me, if you're a skeptic on cartoon films, you won't be after you watch this one.
This film shows the humanity of the whole Moses-Pharoah showdown and it's a delightful sight, especially for a "cartoon film." Enjoy.

Summary: A Masterpiece of Animation
Review: This is one of the best made animated movies of all time. First off, the animation is amazing. It alone is reason to see this film. More importantly, it is an inspiring story regardless of your religious background (those worried about seeing a 90 minute propaganda film need not fear,) and is very respectful of the history and cultures it deals with.
I was most impressed by how accurately Egypt was portrayed (the middle eastern people in it actually have dark skin!) The film's creators really did their homework in making 19th dynasty Egypt and its surrounding tribes come to life. The use of traditional Jewish tunes in the music is a nice example of this.
Finally, this story makes the characters in Exodus very likeable and human. There is great character development and moral dilemmas. There are also no "cutesy" sidekicks or silly songs in this movie; the story is treated seriously which I appreciated greatly as well.
Besides the absence of cutesyness, the film is quite graphic in its depictions of slavery and death, so very small children might not like it, but I encourage all older children and adults to watch it, it is a wonderful film.

Summary: Excellent
Review: This movie is really wonderful. It's a tear-jerker. Normally, I don't enjoy the music from animations, but the music in Prince of Egypt is great! Anyone familiar with the story of Moses will love this retelling of it.
