Rating: Summary: A great story! It really makes you think. Review: I enjoyed this movie very much. The graphics were amazing and the story was very convincing. I've read this story from the bible before and have heard many different versions of it. I found it sort of impossable when reading it, but this movie really made it real. I felt so moved. It really changed my view. I'm now a true believer in this story and faith! That's how great and meaningful this movie was!
Rating: Summary: Excellent faith building portrayal of the Biblical account. Review: Though not 100% accurate, brings new insight into the feelings that Moses must have felt. Excellent music as well.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good, but not perfect Review: Some people seem to think that Christians should be kissing the feet of Dreamworks for making this film. This film is not about "Christians", but about Moses. A Jew. Old Testament. It's appeal therefore is much wider, and though I'm sure dreamworks was happy to garner all the "Christian" dollars floating out there, it is not about to become the forefront of a new religious wave in entertainment. As Church history and foundation you might consider this movie for Christians, but really it puts storytelling, art and drama first before religious preaching. There is nothing in this movie that will give you new or relevant insights into the old testament story. It is not a bible lesson. It will not improve your mind (unless you've never read the story), but play with your emotions. Occasionally I cringed during the sentimental parts (a matter of personal dislike for excessive emotion shoved down my throat, but this film wasn't too bad in that area - could have been much worse). Dreamworks' artists still have a ways to go on solid drawing -- particularly faces, but the effects, both cgi and other, are wonderful. Still, this is going to be one of those movies that people in the future will be able to easily tell that it was made in the nineties. But I can't tell you how much more I loved it than Disney's low-quality, wildly politically-correct Mulan!
Rating: Summary: The most awe inspiring interpretation ever! Review: I was moved so many times during the course of this film as both a 3-D animator and a Christian. While the story may have been 1000's of years before the time of Christ, Christians and Jews both understand that Moses was in fact a "type" of Christ, and pointed to the savior yet to come through his ministry. Christians understand that God's Spirit transcends the boundaries of time and has salvation available for peoples throughout all history who believe in his provisions. This movie does a great job of displaying these truths which absolutely DOES make it Christian and the most accurate biblical account ever told via Hollywood animation. Please buy this movie.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I've seen this movie and I must say it is wonderful. It is not exactly the Exodus story but close enough. Anyone who loves the beauty and power of God should love this movie. You might need a tissue, I know I did.
Rating: Summary: Cute story. It doesn't annoy you like other animated movies. Review: I'm an eighth grader and I love this movie! You get to see the biblical story of Moses and how Queen Hatshepsut raised him and how he and his brother got together and how Moses learned to believe in God. Besides, this is not just a movie for kids, it's for older people also. And it's entertaining and worth seeing over and over again. So don't disregard it just because it's a cartoon, but what you have to disregard is the beanbag toy that comes with the video.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!!!!! Review: I got so into this movie, I forgot it was animated. It has some of the best animation and special effects in animation that I have ever seen. It should set a whole new standard in animation. Aside from the fact of some artistic liberties taken, the story follows the Bible story very well. This movie is just as much for adults as it is for young adults. Younger children may have a hard time with some of the "violence" (ie the Plagues, possibly asking "Why would God do that?" kind of questions-be prepared for a lot of them if you do let younger children see it). This is one of my favorite movies and will definitely be added to my collection! P.S. The soundtrack is great too. You can almost picture some of the songs being sung in a Broadway setting.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful animation! Fairly true to Old Testament text. Review: Dreamworks took a chance outside their normal animated vehicles and produced a classic! Contrary to some of the reviews I've read it is and always will be a Judeo-Christian history. I have loved animation since I was a child (4 decades ago!). Dreamworks really pushed the envelope with their animation techniques and created a breathtaking epic in the tradition of CB DeMille in animation format! I would hope they have the courage to continue making such family worthy, Biblio-Centric movies.
Rating: Summary: Reply to msc1582@garnet.acns.fsu.edu Review: In reply to the commentary from msc1582@garnet, this movie IS Christian! If he would go back to the Old Testament and Cross Reference it with the New Testament, it tells of the wonderful meaning of the deliverance of God's chosen people from bondage (sin). This film is a wonderful break from traditional "get it all wrong" from the non-Christian movie makers trying to direct a Christian story (ie - NOAH! - what a joke!) This film is not the typical shove it down your throat, Bible Tapping movie, but is well thought out , and for the most part, is actually Biblcal. My Children were captivated by the action as well as the music. And thank you for a PG movie without the added profanity and sexual innuendos!!! SEE IT CAN BE DONE!
Rating: Summary: The Prince of Egypt was an excellent story. Review: I enjoyed the movie very much and went home to study about the slavery of the Jewish people in Egypt and their Exodus from it. While I am not Jewish, I do know the history from hearing it in church and reading of the Bible. Being an animated film some might think it is just for children, it is not. It is for everyone.
