Summary: A good story for ALL religions...
Review: I am a Wiccan. My family is Wiccan. I took my 9 year-old son to see The Prince of Egypt when it came out on the big screen. The animation is spectacular, the story riveting, the lessons timeless.

I welcomed the chance to discuss with my child how people from other cultures and religions persecute those they consider beneath them--an atrocious and reprehensible act that unfortunately continues to this day even in our own country. I try to take care not to mention any religion in particular in this regard--the hateful acts of a few often darken the brighter loving aspects of the many. The plight of the Jewish slaves is heartbreaking and their continued struggle through the 20th Century should never be forgotten.

That aside, there were some other scenes that I enjoyed immensely, especially the scene where the Egyptian priests are chanting their gods names during a song. Image after image of Egyptian god manifests as their name is called, making for a wonderful pantheonic display of power.

And finally, for those of us who love strong female characters, Moses' wife, Zepporah (?) manages to be beautiful, feminine, strong-willed and tough all at the same time. She alone made the movie worth the price of admission.

Without being preachy, The Prince of Egypt manages to tell its tale to the masses regardless of race, religion, or culture. If you don't believe that, just look at the Exodus scene. There ARE Egyptians leaving with the Jews.

Summary: It Made Me Cry
Review: I don't think the story of Moses has ever been this exciting since the Ten Commandments. This movie retells this classic Bible story of Moses, a Hebrew destined to free his people, and Ramses, the leader of the most powerful ancient kingdom. A talented voice cast adds to the splendor and let's not forget the animation. People, if you are looking for a sure-fire favorite for the family, here it is.

Summary: Thank you so much!
Review: I've viewed this movie over and over. Each time it grows on you more. Somehow the animators were able to put emotion into the faces of their characters - love is the theme that runs throughout this movie. The absolute love on the face of Moses's mother - to the love Moses and Pharoah had - to the love Moses had for the people of the Exodus. While it is a violent story, I believe it helps remind people to put human-ness with these Bible stories. Excellent movie - excellent sound track. Thank you DreamWorks!

Summary: A landmark achievement in animation
Review: How do you breathe fresh air into one of the oldest stories in the world? You concentrate on the characters as real life people first, historical figures second. The producers did just that. This is really the story of two brothers who must struggle with their destinies--sure Moses must fulfill God's command, but what about the deaths of the Egyptian children? You don't expect to see this kind of complicated moral dilemma discussed in a cartoon, but Prince of Egypt doesn't back away from it. The animators were challenged with conveying the complexity of emotions and succeeded--facial expressions are brought to a new level in this film. It's also refreshing to see the characters accurately drawn as dark-skinned Semitic people living in a desert rather than fair skinned Europeans in a Hollywood epic.

Summary: An ispirational, poignant movie experience
Review: I've heard and read the Moses story since I was a child in Sunday School, but never before had I understood the strong family bond Moses would have had with his adopted Egyptian family. This movie gives insight into Moses' struggle with his own place and purpose in the world and with the conflict of choosing sides between his birth family and adopted family. I thought the movie was well done. The minor differences from the biblical text were negligible in comparison to the moving portrayal of the story. I think it's wonderful that our children are encouraged to have hope and to believe that our prayers are answered long before we see the results. I would love to know the English translation to the delightful Hebrew lyrics begun by the children and joined by the nation during the exodus. Does anyone know where I might find them?

Summary: WOW
Review: Between the story and the artistic talents of the studio....this is a WOW movie. Moses is one the favorite bible stories for children.....how a mother could trust in the Lord to watch over her child......how one person can make a different in the world. The living Sea and the almost realist quality of the movie make it very special.

Summary: the best movie ever
Review: This movie is a must see for anyone who is in question of god. Not only if your in question, but if your a believer. I love the movie because it helped me understand how powerful God is, and how much he loves us. I always thought that he was powerful, but just there. Like he was not really doing anything that we could see, of course he makes little changes in our everyday lives, but this helped me to see the changes that took place before my time. I was in awe. I had only heard of the story prior to seeing the movie, and only bits and pieces at that. then I saw the movie, and I was like, "Wow! That really happened! " Then the next day, I looked it up in the bible, and sure enough, there it was! Wonderful movie!

Summary: this movie was fairly amazing!
Review: I thought this movie was pretty good, and although I have never read the story in Exodus, I should think it came pretty close. I have heard the story and it is timeless! I thought the movie was sad, yet inspiring. If you have not seen it, WATCH IT NOW!
