Summary: Allright
Review: This movie was ok. Mulan was a good character, full of animation and beauty. She was a good person and was learning a lot by her experiences but she didn't understand some things which her father tried to teach her. A good movie, some of the scenes would have been better without Mushu talking about spit shines and stuff like that. But very interesting. If Mushu weren't in the movie I probably would have cried.

Summary: I hate to say it, but I agree with the critics.
Review: When the movie trailers for this film came out, I thought, "GREAT! Finally an animated epic adventure from Disney! Looks to be better than Sleeping Beauty."

But it's not.

Mulan is a comedy. Sure, it's the tale of a girl in search of herself, but her sidekicks (Mu Shu and Krikee) steal the show. And the sidekicks are only on the screen to be funny. Don't get me wrong, they are funny! I constantly recite Mu Shu's lines...
But...
The plot of Mulan was a bit too predictable.

The animation quality is excellent and the sound (on DVD) is THX... meaning it's the BEST. But this isn't enough to make a great film.

If you're looking for a Disney comedy, this is a good movie for you. But if you are looking for an animated adventure, go find "The Last Unicorn" or "Watership Down."

Summary: Way to go Disney!
Review: Mulan is the first Disney movie with that old Disney heart and magic in a long time. Not since Beauty and the Beast, or to some extent The Lion King, has a movie like this come along. It has everything for a good family movie--a strong story, fantastic characters, heart, and a strong hero or heroine. The songs aren't anything to praise, but a few are rather nice. The humor is also great, even though it's not of Aladdin calibur. The modern Disney formula is still there, like Mushu's western voice and behavior, but Mulan still provides great fun for all. It just might get the kids interested in martial arts. I've taken a lot of flak for trashing Tarzan, but this movie is infinitely better. I consider this to be the last of Disney's greats. I only hope I'm wrong.

Summary: My Favorite Disney Movie!
Review: HI. I like this movie because a lot of times I feel like Mulan. I just wish I had her guts! I like this movie because of the cool songs, and the fun charictures like Mushoo....(or however ya want to spell his name.) I just like this kinda movie. I got it for my 14th birthday from my dad and mom. And when I can I watch it. Of course I drive my brother nuts with singing all the kewl songs. Because they'll get stuck in HIS head and I would be walkin' past him and he'd be singin them. But this is defenently one of my most favorite movies. And you'd miss out if you didn't get it, and watch it. So see ya around!

Summary: Cool animation!
Review: I like the DVD version much better than the VHS version because you can see it in widescreen and hear your favorite characters speak spanish, French, and of course, english... Any way, it's a great story line and is very realistic. You'd like it more if you were interested in Chinese history. It's great!

Summary: THE BEST FROM DISNEY !
Review: Very good. A strong plot, a inspired Eddie Murphy as the Dargon's voice, very few of that typical lousy songs of Disney's movies, good characters, plausible ending. The best!

Summary: I'm sorry, but it deserves no more
Review: This is a pretty horrible movie with respect to how Disney interpreted the story, but considering the kind of things Disney does to every story, it deserves a 3-star rating for the movie itself.

First of all, take Hua Mu Lan herself. Some earlier review said they used Cantonese which they should. But I'm sorry, although the surname Fa (equivalent to Hua in Mandarin) as they mentioned in the movie is in Cantonese, Mu Lan is in Mandarin. In Cantonese it'll be more like Muk Lan. I'm surprised Disney didn't know that. Now Mu Lan, if you observe carefully, has an amazingly close resemblance to Pocahontas, and that's not a coincidence because that's how Disney draws...

Now the story...it is just absolutely, horribly changed to make it Americanized...There was no dragon...there were no ghosts partying...Ok, these you could say were _added_ to make the story interesting (and appealing to Americans), but critical factors were changed. Hua Mu Lan knew how to fight before she got in (although this wasn't explicitly said in the poem, which is included in most junior high Chinese textbooks, it is pretty obvious). And most importantly, SHE WASN'T FOUND TO BE A GIRL UNTIL SHE GOT HOME AND SOME SOLDIERS CAME TO VISIT HER! So all the romance with the captain, etc. etc. was BS...

Ok, that's about it for me. In sum, this Mulan movie is an Americanized version of a good Chinese classic poem. But I do have to mention that if you didn't care about the evil changes made by Disney, this is a great movie because of sound effects, animation, hilarity, etc. etc.

Summary: THE BEST!
Review: At least! An animated cartoon by Disney that deals with a serious theme. as a result, there are only two songs in the entire movie, and they are well chosen (for example, the one in the training). Murphy is amazing as the Dragon's voice.
