Summary: EXCELLENT!!!!!!
Review: I absolutely loved the Harry Potter series. Even though I was excited to see the movie,I had my doubts. I thought that alot of scenes would be changed, and that sort of stuff. BUt was I wrong! The effects and music were awsome, and i loved how the actores fit thir roles perfectly. Even better, the movie followed the book and didn't branch off into its own different world. Although some people are angry that violence is present in the movie, the answer is simple: DON'T TAKE YOUR KIDS TO SEE THE MOVIE THEN!!! It's not that big of a deal, and the violence is nothing compared to an Arnold Swarchengaer movie. Congratualtions to the people who helped make the movie possible, you did an excellent job! I can't wait until the second movie comes out (and the 5th book to!)!

Summary: I love the movie
Review: The movie was a little different from the book but i thought it was still the bomb! I wouldn't change a thing on it. I am a big HP fan, but i dont have all the colletor's items. I got the books not to long after they came out. I had a feeling that the book would be a smash hit, and i was right. If the books were a hit i'd expect the same from the movie.I love HP so much that the name gets me hyper. Nothing can change my mind about the movie or books.

Summary: Don't Be Sarcastic! Film Is Good! (Though I Hate Its Hype)
Review: Not much can be said about "Harry" after so many reviews except that for all its pedestrian script (that is too faithful to the original book) the film is a successful entertainment that practically everyone can enjoy. I know THAT is the part some critics and moviegoers dislike about the movie, but you should have known that JK Rowling insisted on that point, and that the director Chris Columbus is no visionary like Peter Jackson.

The movie follows the adventures of three kids in a training school for wizards/witches, but interestingly their experiences remind us of traditional stories in English literature such as "Tom Brown's Schooldays" and "David Copperfield," (of which TV adaptaion Daniel Radcriff once appeared with Maggie Smith). Thanks to Mr. Columbus, then, who can never fail to keep us interested in the story, which looks sometimes very familiar to the fans of those books.

What is newly added is literally magical nature of the school, so, the film in various ways tries to capture that feeling with modern visual techiniques. That is the part I felt most dissatisfied, for, though production design is impeccable, some of the CGI-generated scenes are far from perfect, considering the standard of these days, and the scenes in which characters fly on a broomsticks often look quite unnatural, as if extracted from computer games. And I couldn't help thinking that the film's ending (and its special effects) could have been much better with a more skillful use of foreshadowing part about the mirror and Harry's secret of birth.

That being said, "Harry Potter" delivers what we expect from this type of film, and is probably the best movie for anyone to take their kids to see, who have never seen movies in theater. If I could, I would have used John Cleese's "Nearly Headless Nick" more (or introduced all the remaining members of Monty Python, with some their famous gags about crunchy chocolate), but as the cast is perfect, there is nothing to cavil at. Though, indeed, this year's Oscar race ignored "Harry" completely, I would give 'Best Casting Directer Award' to this film, for the efforts in finding adorable Daniel Radcilff. He and other colorful British cast (including cute Emma Watson, whom I would call 'Meg Ryan in childhood') are going to compensate for anything bad found in this jolly good film.

Summary: This was a fine film - for what it is.
Review: I'm not going to tell you that the movie lived up to or didn't live up to the book. All I will say is that this movie is pretty good for what it is. This is a fun kids' phantasy film.
Don't try to equate this to "The Lord of the Rings" either. This movie, like the book, is to "The Lord of the Rings" like a romance novel is compaired to "A Tale of Two Cities". Sorry to say so Harry fans, but it's true. Yes it is. Anyway...

I was mainly interested in seeing this movie because John Cleese was going to be in it. Well, don't let that be your reason, because he barely is. (Hopefully, he'll have a bigger part on the DVD version) I was pleasantly surprised though. The makeup is very good and the special effects are quite up to par. Of course, as I mentioned before, they shouldn't be compaired to TLOTR. That might leave you dissapointed.

I'd advise you to get this for your kids, or if you don't have kids, tell the guy at the store that you do, and get it for yourself. I highly recommend this film. How anyone can give this a one star rating, I cannot comprehend.

Summary: Read the books, see the movie, read the books again...
Review: Before seeing this moving in the theatre, I read the first two books in the series. I absolutely loved the books and the movie! When you read the books you get these pictures in your head of how the characters look, how they act and how the scenes appear. That's why the movie was so amazing! All of the things I pictured in my head were just that in the movie! Some may think that after seeing a movie, there is just no interest in reading the books. Well, I'm almost finished with the third book (Prisoner of Azkaban) and want to go back and read the first two again! I can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can watch the movie over and over too! Rowling is a gifted author who pulls our imaginations into a world of wonder and amazement!
