Summary: "Inconceivable!!"
Review: This is one of the BEST comedies of all time. A true classic, and one that the whole family can enjoy as there is NO swearing, and NO lewd conduct whatsoever. This film is for anyone who loves great tongue-in-cheek adventures, and of course, you have to have a sense of humor. I've noticed a couple reviews here where people actually said it was boring! Inconceivable!! I imagine those people prefer their movies a bit more on the "art house" side. So if you are one of those people who prefer not to laugh during a movie, then you should definitely skip this one. This is a great movie to watch over and over again, as we do in our house. I have had to replace our VHS a couple times over the years due to overuse, and I am SO thankful to finally be able to have it on DVD! And one that has lots of extras as well!!

Summary: Refreshing
Review: Every so often a film comes along that redefines a genre. This is one of them.

Ostensibly an action romance, its humor is charming, without being cloying, a film that viewers in every generation can enjoy.

Particularly fine are the performances of the supporting actors -- Andre the Giant, Peter Falk, Billy Crystal and Christopher Guest among them. And the soundtrack by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame is a joy.

Highly recommended.

Summary: If I could I would give this movie 500 stars!
Review: There is no fairy tale like this!
Two thumbs up!
Brilliant, simply brilliant!
This what you will be saying when you watch this movie. It takes you into a world of love, hate, giants, death, swords play, and much much more! It's fairy tale come to life. It's a movie for the whole family. Females will get pulled in by the romance, and males will get pulled in by the fight scenes. And if you don't fall into one of those categories you'll just get pulled in! I could write about this movie for hours because it's thee family movie of all time. I'm just sad that I didn't see it when I was a kid. So I hope you enjoy!

Summary: Read the book
Review: The book is a MILLION times better than the movie. They left so much out and it really made me dissapointed when I finally saw the movie. Don't waste your money on the movie, but i recommend reading the book.

Summary: The original fairy tale
Review: The first time I saw this movie I was 20 years old, much to my friends horror. I somehow missed this classic during my childhood. I can now honestly say this this is a wonderful movie, with nuances that will appeal to adults and a story that will appeal to children. Destined to become a classic in every home, it can be watched again and again with no decrease in the enjoyment it provides.

Summary: Boring, over-rated
Review: This is an amazingly boring, highly over-rated film from a screenwriter who is touted as a god in the business. It's dull, boring, sheesh-ka-bob.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: The movie's always been one of my favorites and, for once, the "special edition" moniker is appropriate. The extras are charming, particularly the Director's commentary. A must see!

Summary: Something for everyone
Review: Adult or child, its got something in it for everyone of all ages.
I've seen it on Tv many times and enjoy it each time. Loaded with the best actors, comedy, drama, little mystery, etc. Buy it.

Summary: very entertaining
Review: I enjoyed this movie a great deal. A few friends have told me that it is their all-time favorite. I didn't love it. After the rave reviews I had heard I expected a little more. It is well-worth seeing nonetheless.

Summary: Who would have thought?
Review: Who would have thought with a title like "The Princess Bride" that I would be introduced to this film by my 4 sons who had played it over and over again? The title had me thinking that it was a chick film, but with 4 males from 18 down to 4 watching it over and over again, it had to be something more. I sat down, and was pleasantly surprised with a tale of swashbuckling adventure, with unapologetically cartoonish characters. The tale is narrated at times by a grandfather portrayed by Peter Falk as he is reading this tale to his cynical grandson, played by a young Fred Savage.

When the tale goes beyond the realm acceptable by a reasonable person, the grandson complains to the grandfather, who always offers to quit reading the story, but gives enough of a teaser as to leave his grandson begging for more.

Is this movie silly? YES, YES, YES! Is it fun? YES! With the magical cast assembled here, they can take this preposterous tale and make it sing. If you cannot suspend your sense of disbelief for the duration of a movie, get something else, heavier and darker. If you want a cute little diversion of a movie, pop this one in. It is a fun, up-beat, fast paced movie.

As I detest spoilers I won't give you any more plot elements, but rest assured, the ending is good. Don't be surprised if little boys in your household start yelling, "I'm Inigo Montoya, you killed my father. Prepare to die!" and jumping about the house. (After hearing that line a few hundred times I had to see the movie.)
