Summary: Cary Elwes a Hottie
Review: (Written by Tracie...not Mike, Mike's sister wrote this...not Mike)... Um...so this is one of the best movies I think I've ever seen, Cary Elwes being hott has nothing to do why I rated this a five star...although it is a major plus...

This movie has one of the best sword fight scenes, the best deaths and not to mention true love...which is something i believe...it also has one of the best revenge scenes...and my favorite name throughtout the whole thing would have to be Prince Humperdink...ever time I heard it it made me laugh...this has been a review by Tracie Mills-Winkler...not Mike, Mike's Sister...Not Mike...

Summary: A great little flick!
Review: When my husband put in the DVD of The Princess Bride, I thought I would be polite and not leave the room until the story got underway. I was surprised at how taken in I was by the story. I felt just like the grandson to whom Peter Falk was reading The Princess Bride story. Needless to say, I stayed entranced throughout the film.

There is a little something for everyone: romance, comedy, action, wickedness. It is worth watching for the fun cameo appearances alone!!!

Summary: Finally!
Review: What an amzingly fantastic DVD this is gonna be. I really just can't wait. I mean c'mon, it's the NEW special edition DVD of the Classic Princess Bride. Lets see here, what's so great about this movie, huh, how can I count the ways? First off, you have Rob Reiners fkawless direction of the film (something that he also captured in this first movie, "This is Spinal Tap"). Incredible acting by all involved. Then, just an non-stop bombardment of hilarious moments. This movie is incredible and I highly suggest you pre-order this new DVD right now!

Summary: This movie hurt to watch
Review: This movie bothers me and I really mean it... anybody want a peanut? I particularly sick of hearing that phrase over and over again along with many others. If this movie could fall off the face of the earth, I wouldn't cry.

Summary: I Love This Movie!
Review: I have watched this movie countless times and it never gets old! My whole family finds themselves quoting lines from the movie and sitting down with popcorn every night to watch it! Westley is so cool, Inigo is funny, Buttercup is cool, Fezzik is cool, Humperdink is an ... and hilarious name, and I love this movie! As soon as we bought a DVD player I bought this DVD! Don't pass up this wonderful family movie! It is the coolest!

Summary: Classic Fairy Tale Fun
Review: In a word, this is a classic. And I'll tell you why. It's obvious that this has become a favorite of many viewers, and it's not hard to see why.

First, the story is timeless, if cliched. The usual princess loves-someone-else-but-has-to-marry-the-evil-prince storyline. Yet despite this tired plot, it is the unique and humorous characters in this movie that bring it to life and make it a classic.

The dialogue is witty and fresh, and there are several classic scenes. Who could forget "Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya..." The duel on the Cliffs of Insanity, and my favorite Battle of Wits, the most rewarding scene in the movie. This is the stuff that good movies are made of.

My only complaint is the entirely ruinous cameo of Billy Crystal. His dialogue is predictable, and his humor backfires. Drop the lame Yiddish accent and perhaps things would have been funnier.

I recommend this film to anyone who enjoys happy endings, enduring characters, and classic love stories. It truly is genuine fun.

Summary: Great movie -- WAY better than the book!
Review: I have seen this movie at least eight times, AND I STILL LOVE IT! The first time I ever saw this movie I was 13 years old and my elementary school was having its annual "field day" -- the next to last day of every school year, when no work was done, and athletic events and movies replaced classes. This was one of the movies they showed. As an eighth grader, I was transfixed by the beautiful love story between Wesley, the poor but faithful farmboy, and Buttercup, the devastatingly beautiful, aristocratically conceited, but equally poor farm girl, taken to be the queen of the evil Prince Humperdinck. To make matters worse, Reiner throws a pirate attack, and a kidnapping scandal -- masterminded by the evil Vizzini(Wallace Shawn, BEFORE he became famous) and carried out for comic relief by the dexterous and dashing Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin, in a VERY RARE comic role), and the dim-witted, bighearted behemoth Fezzik (as far as I know, the only movie role for the late Andre the Giant) into the mix. If you're looking for a movie that's a delightful, touching, sidesplitting lark with the theme of "Love Conquers All -- Even Rodents of Unusual Size" then take it from me, this movie is for you! Trust me, I almost have it memorized!

(Note: There is also a delightful surprise for both twentysomething and fiftysomething TV viewers alike, with the special-guest appearance of two very familiar faces. Who are they? Now now, can't give away too much. You'll have to buy the movie for that!...

Summary: Fairy Tale
Review: The Princess Bride can be quite possibly the best example of a modern fairy tale amongst movies made in the last few decades. This story displays every element of a fairy tale. Possibly the most common and most celebrated element of this movie is the love existing between Wesley and Buttercup. Like most every other fairy tale, The Princess Bride revolves around the improbable love between a young couple. This love is characterized by their famous love pledge "as you wish". The next element covered is the element of danger. There is much sword fighting as well as hand to hand combat. Like in all fairy tales, the young hero must battle the evil forces. A third element that surfaces is a villain. What good is a fairy tale without a villain? Apart from these three elements this movie includes comedy, adventure, and intrigue. Lighthearted comedy is provided in this movie by the late Andre the Giant. This delightful modern fairy tale is widely viewed as a masterpiece and will be enjoyed by all.

Summary: A classic
Review: When this movie was released I had 90% of the lines memorized. What a treat for it to be released on DVD. No special features, video or sound quality.

Summary: I've Seen it 50 Times
Review: I have not read the book, but I do intend to. But, from reviews I have read, the movie goes along almost perfectly with the book. But some times, you cannot understand what Andre the Giant or the Spaniard are saying, but that makes it even better. It is a very good movie, and is for the whole family, funny, sad, adventurous, and exciting, this book has everything you could hope for.

Have fun, and hope you buy this movie.
