Summary: Belongs to the Best of Disney!
Review: For a long time, Disney has been the best in animation movies. But now, there are a lot of other studio's who try to make animation movies who are just as good as Disney. So Disney must try to keep the quality of their movies and give the audience a reason to come to their movies and not of the one of the other studio. But 2 years ago, Disney released "Mulan" and DreamWorks "The Prince of Egypt". And "The Prince of Egypt" was much better than "Mulan". Because the songs where better and the animation was fantastic. While Disney's "Mulan" didn't had any really new animations or really enjoyable songs. And I was actualy very dissapointed in Disney.

But last year, Disney came up with "Tarzan". "Tarzan" has really fantastic computer animated backgrounds, especialy when Tarzan is "surfing" on the trees. Plus some really good songs of Phil Collins and very funny humor.

There are also of course some famous movie stars who are doing some character voices, like Minnie Driver as Jane, Glenn Close as Tarzan's mother and Rosie O'Donnell as Terk.

If the movies of the last years a bit dissapointed you, you really have to see "Tarzan", because Disney is finally back and is ready to team up with the other studio's.

Together with "The Hunchback of the Notre Dame" (wich was my favourite Disney movie of all-time, untill now) is this the best Disney movie ever made!

I also want to say something about the extra's on the DVD, because this is the first Disney movie who is released in Holland with extra's. And they are really good. Especially the preview of "Dinosaur" which has really cool sound (as well as the movie). I only really missed the score only thing. They actually should have done that. Because I really liked the songs of Phil Collins and especially the music of Mark Mancina.

Summary: FABULOUS!!!
Review: First, I am surprised at the two comments I have seen which suggest staying away from the DVD version. I (and several friends) have the DVD version and have had experienced NO problems on multiple types of DVD players. Perhaps these individuals are playing it on a computer based DVD player and that is the cause (FYI - NT doesn't support DVD...)? My Panasonic Stereo Component DVD player has no problems with it. In addition, the DVD is PACKED with extras! The DVD version adds much to the experience. If you're worried, rent it first!

Regarding the film, this is a great example of classic Disney animation. The background detail is breathtaking! It is too bad it takes so long to create this level of artistry (5-7 years)or we would have more films with this style of animation and less with the "Hercules" style. The music is superb - which is no big surprise since it was written by Phil Collins. The characters are engaging, and thoroughly enjoyable. All in all this is a film to see over and over for an enchanting escape to the jungle!

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: This movie gets you so involved you forget you are watching the tube! Casting of the voices were incredible. Minnie Driver provides her absolutly exhilarating voice for our enjoyment!

Summary: Fabulous, Magical - A Disney Pot of Gold
Review: I have seen few films with the vibrancy and magical quality that Tarzan is favoured with.

There is an obvious improvement in animation quality from the beginning, which is sustained throughout the film, providing stunning backdrops and character facial features.

The characters are all easy to relate to, even the baddie, Clayton.

The music is absolutely huge and goes perfectly with the film - Phil Collins' enormously rich and catchy tunes are some of the most enjoyable ever from Disney.

The story itself is wonderful (nothing like 'The Jungle Book'), blending the usual Disney themes of love and friendship with a strong story of courage and discovery. The plot of the destruction of the gorillas is particularly appropriate and striking as a reflection on a real life situation in Africa, and the dramatic conclusion is heart wrenching, with the demise of the villain more shocking than the normal Disney method of 'fall off a cliff' or 'get stuck in a lamp.'

The most sparkling quality of this filom however, is that it revives the small flicker of childhood that still exists within everyone into a flame once more. For that, it's priceless.

Summary: OUTSTANDING- SEE IT 50 TIMES.....WE DID!!!!!
Review: My wife and I originally bought this DVD for our 2 year old son. Our son must watch this movie every night before he goes to bed. We must have seen this movie AT LEAST 50 times since buying it 2 months ago--Believe me-this movie is thouroghly entertaining even after seeing it so much. The animation is outstanding in every detail- the detail itself (shadowing, background movement, ect.) sets a new standard in itself!!! The voices of Minnie Driver, Glenn Close, Rosie O'Donnell and Lance Hendrickson are perfect to the character's personalities. Any soundtrack that is done by Phil Collins is incredible- there is no exception here in Tarzan. Aside from the great technical aspects and flawless production, Tarzan also deals with such social issues as racism and acceptance. This movie can be enjoyed by anyone!! See it 50 times-we did!!!

Summary: I actually enjoyed it... on the most part
Review: Well, after The Lion King, Disney has sort of gone... down hill. But, I was not disappointed by Tarzan. It was cute (little girls will love Jane), but had a quality to make it enjoyable to little boys as well. If anyone protests to seeing a cartoon man in loin cloth, see the original Tarzan movies. Hah.

Summary: Buy this version of the DVD!
Review: Tarzan is at about 80% as far a Disney classics go. The music is great, the animation is great, the effects are great... The story has few holes in it... Completely enjoyable fun, however.

In particular, I would like to give a shout for this version of the DVD, which contains a massive amount of extras and is the best investment for DVD collectors of any of the Disney Masterpiece titles. The sound and picture translate well, and it is presented in a wonderfully fun and lush manner.

As I have stated, this is one of the better animated films. Leaving aside the few minor story flaws it ranks up there with Beauty and the Beast and Lion King. If you are going to own it on DVD, this is the version to get. The extra price is worth it!

Summary: HANDS DOWN THE BEST DISNEY MOVIE, NO QUESTION ABOUT IT!
Review: When I first heared that Disney were making this movie, I was at first sceptical; how can you possibly make a Disney movie from a peice of work like this? Well, I saw it, and quite possibly, this is one of my favorite films of all time, its just so good, the animation is top notch, and it shows that it's been, like in production for years. Phil Collins' music, believe it or not adds to this, with the epic ''Son of man'' being a real treat, mid movie. The best part for me is actually the part where Tarzan fights the leopard, and then does the ''Tarzan call'', it sends chills up my spine! There is some comedy set in there, but it doesn't spoil things. Tony Goldwin does an excellent job as the voice of Tarzan, as does Brit Minnie Driver, as the voice of Jane (who provides some of the most amusing and exciting scenes in the movie). The extras on the DVD are pretty good, a whole disc devoted to them, which inclues trailers, making of docus, poster campaigns and a special feature(layer by layer breakdowns of parts of the movie) which makes full use of the angle button. Buy this DVD, thats all I am saying, it is fantastic.
