Summary: They sould have stopped it
Review: Part 3, for what? The first 2 films where very good, they explored the true meaning of Karate very well. This one is just a copy of the first one, of bad quality. Daniel is FAT!!! How can that be? And SLOW!!! What did happen since he returned from Okinawa? Did he eat too much suchi? Or did he think he was already a Master and just spent the last mounths sleeping? Anyway, the story is very bad, the former Cobra-Kai instructor wanted revenge so he asks help to an evil friend who hires a bad dude to kick Daniel's butt. Daniel looses faith in Miyagi, and starts training on his own, and soon realises he's been a dumb student all the way, so he returns to Miyagi and wins the tournament. The final fight is very, very bad and short. No special moves, imagine the first film without the special kick, and you have this final fight. Although bad, it's enternaining, but not worthy spending any money in it.

Summary: What was the point ??
Review: I don't know where to begin. The editing was really faulty and suspisious. When they cut to different scenes the actors would hold position until the director yelled " Cut " like they do in soap operas. The sound editing was just as worse because sometimes in different scenes the sound would become faint and louder in others. Also there was a moment or two when you could hear Daniels voice but clearly his lips were not moving. The lighting in some scenes were plain miserable, too dark in some too light in others. When Daniel was near the ocean with his Japanese father figure I could clearly tell they were in a studio and the ocean plus background were real but on a big screen behind them so as to make it look like they were actually outside. When Daniel and his unattractive and annoying " chick friend " were climbing down the mountain there was actual instances where I could hear their voices echoing, particularly when Danny , in his usual fashion, was yelling like the baby he was during this movie. There voices were echoing because they were inside a studio and the sound engineer was too lazy to remedy the problem. Ok, now on to the plot. The plot was silly and too similar to part one. In fact there were some scenes that stole from the original. Daniel is really annoying in this movie because when he doesn't get his way he shouts and gets all excited like a rabbid dog. His acting in this film is downright pathetic and laugh out loud funny. He doesn't look at all like a teenager but rather an overweight, poorly dressed, over the hill wannabe with a stupid walk. Ever notice he has a really dumb looking walk . He is a two dimensional character in this movie. He is either depressed and talking about " how the weight of the world is in his shoulders" or he is manic with excitement and yelling with enthusiasm. I think Daniel might be manic depressive but he doesn't have the time to go to a shrink because he is too busy getting his ass kicked or sponging off that poor Japanese man. That Japanese man has a lot of patience to put up with the likes of Daniel. He buys him a car, helps him out in just about every jam he gets into , shows up to help daniel when he is getting beat up. And all Daniel can to is to yell at him because he won't help him train. Doesn't Daniel think that maybe with all the crap that Japanese man has been thru that he wants Daniel to get off his back already!? But know, kust like a fricken stalker, Daniel is on his back every miserable second. I really wanted Daniel to get beat up worse in the end. I was routing for the bad guys. To bad Daniel couldn't have fallen off the cliff. He would have been a beached whale! LOL!!!!!!

Summary: SIGH!!!
Review: Now this 3rd (and should have been last installment of this franchise...instead they came with "The NEXT karate kid with Hillary Swank)
Was just not acceptable!
First of all the editing sucked, some scenes Daniel (Ralph Macchio) looked fat and other scenes he looked slim, and other scenes there after he looked like he was GETTING fat. His jeans were ridiculously tight in some scenes.
So you didn't know which was before or after. They were then merged together to confuse us...the overall result was "fat".

How and why would they get the girl from "Teen Witch" (Robyn lively) to play a love interest that was doomed before the movie even reached 30 minutes with the "I already have a boyfriend" speech...so why are you taking up space in this movie...you weren't all that pretty!!

Pat Morita is great as always but even his mentality was on "Speed yawn" for this movie...he was just going through the contract.

Apparently alot of reviewers giving 5 stars saw Karate kid 3 first and saw the Karate kid 1 afterwards (same story). This would I guess be perfectly normal because they showed part 3 ALOT in the late 80s and early 90s on cable and I can't remember seing part 1 in almost 10 years even on regular TV.

Tons and tons of unnecessary over-acting in this one by Thomas Ian Griffin (laughing uncontrallably..almost comically..something out of a cartoon almost)and the "Johnny" looka-like dude.

Was it me or did the bad guys who wanted Daniel to sign the Tournament contract to fight against him seem to not have lives and show up where ever he was at? He's in the middle of a Bonzai hunting expedition with Mr. Miyagi and then they show up?All Daniel had to do was sign the contract and the movie would've been 15 minutes...what a story they had for this one!

The music Score for this one was meaningless and no hits surfaced from the soundtrack...I don't think anyone cares to buy this soundtrack anyways.

In the last part with the tournament..almost the SAME EXACT scene as in part one...except Daniel was busting out of his Karate outfit due to him gaining more weight through out the film.

Maybe they can come with a Karate kid Reunion movie and use Ray Ramano to play Daniel?

Summary: The Bonsai Kid
Review: The third series of Karate Kid is the least favorite among the series(including Karete Girl one). The plot itself is not bad.
Miyagi sensei in ambiguous manner warns against recent show-like atmosphere of the tournament itself and power-stressed styles. But it could have been much better presented in this film. Opening is really terrible. It ruins the whole plot. It's like rotten episode of 007 or Mitsukuni Mito the deputy-Shogun samurai drama. The previous series indicated some nice strategy so that Daniel-san could defeat the opponent in the end. But this one has none. It is quite unconvincing that Daniel san could win the Kobura-kai kids with latest Karate technics. I do not believe Kata alone can defeat the opponent.
Miyagi-san's love for Bonsai is very understandable but it took time for the movie too much.

Recommended only for die-hards.

Summary: WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY MADE THIS ONE?
Review: THIS TIME, DANIEL [RALPH MACCHIO] GOES TO A NEW MARTIAL ARTIST [THOMAS IAN GRIFFITH] AND ABANDONS MR. MIYAGI [PAT MORITA] UNTIL HE FINDS OUT THAT HIS NEW TRAINER IS A FRIEND OF THE TRAINER [MARTIN KOVE] OF THE MARTIAL ARTIST HE DEFEATED IN THE FIRST FILM. THIS WAS JUST SHAMEFUL. IT'S ALL JUST ONE BIG SNOOZEFEST THIS TIME AROUND. NOT WORTH THE TIME OR THE MONEY. FOLLOWED BY THE EVEN WORSE NEXT KARATE KID.
