Summary: Well done, but lacking in character development
Review: I love the Harry Potter series, both the books and the movies. But I can't say that I rate Chamber of Secrets as highly as I did Sorcerer's Stone.

Why?

Quite frankly, the movie is a marvelous fairy tale to watch, with the action scenes (the duels are excellent!) and some of the key points displayed quite perfectly and loyally to the book. Yet is is lacking what really sucked me in and captivated me about the books. It's lacking the underlying themes, the hints, the layer of friendships and subplots that grow with importance as the books go on. I especially missed the character-development for Ginny who, even though she hardly appears in the book or movie, is fantastically important to the plot. (And yes, I am likely biased, as Ginny is my favorite character.)

Good points: Excellent effects, true to the book, covers the major plot points by and large. A good adaption for a movie from a book, and with what they could work with. Moaning Myrtle was particularly well done, as were the excellent duels.

Bad points: Missing the character development and major subplots that are so important to the books, so the movie has little depth.

Overall, I definitely recommend seeing it. the acting is well done, it's filmed well, and it's one action shot after another, with good jokes and plenty of the magic of the first. but don't go into it expecting the same depth that was in the first movie. It's just not there, and what makes the books so magical is the subplots that wind through it, tying it all together. Movie adaptions will almost always leave you disappointed in this regard.

But if you're a fan of the books... go see it!

Summary: Harry Potter strikes again!!
Review: This is the best movie I have ever seen. It has everything I like in a movie. Action, adventure, and a little bit of romance! The actors in this movie did a superb job in the movie. The special effects seem so real! And so do all of the ghosts in the movie. I can't wait until Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban hits theaters!

Summary: Harry has no re-play
Review: This was a great movie and in many ways superior to the first in the series - however the film has very little re-play value. I got the DVD and quickly popped it in my DVD player looking to recapture the magic of that day when I saw it in the theater and was disappointed. Having not read the books I had no clue about the story when I sat down in that darken theater - so as the simplistic (yet more complex than the first) plot unfolded I was entertained and impressed. However once you know the story the movie has very little to offer. The DVD set is nice and is more inclusive than the first, it also looks nice next to the first film on my shelf and I'm afraid it's going to stay there for awhile, perhaps I'll watch it again when part three comes out.

Summary: Its Worth a Watch
Review: I must admit even , after the first part Harry Potters - The Socerers Stone, I was very impressed with the story line. I must admit, I have refrained from reading the book so I can enjoy the movie, and I have to admit I dont regret not reading the book a bit. Harry Potter, meets up with his old friends and the movie begins with many unexpected swirls and turns. The movie, not even for a moment stops for a breather, the action and suspence in the plot is what, keeps audiance in thier seats. This movie, is worth keeping in your DVD collection and so is its predecessor, as it is one the whole family will enjoy.

Summary: Better than the first!
Review: Fantastic Movie! I think it was better than the first. I also think that the movies are better than the books, even though I prefer reading to watching a movie. You must buy this movie and watch it again and again. The Harry Potter series is truly magical. A must see!

Summary: Not as good as the first, but still a great movie!
Review: I really enjoyed this chapter in Harry Potter's life. However, I found that some of the story lines were not as well explained as others, and that there were quite a few moments that seemed like elements were added just to jump the movie to the next point. However, I did not see the theatrical release, and this DVD has added scenes... not knowing what was added. It is a little long (2.5 hrs) for a young child and even some adults. However, I still enjoyed it thoroughly. It has wonderful elements of suspense and action. It is a definite must-have for your DVD collection!

Summary: better than lotr
Review: harry potter is better than the lord of the rings. it is more orginal, and people who think that dobby is a copy of gollum are crazy- they are totally unalike, and have different parts in each movie. all lord of the rings is is a stupid war movie with un-creative creatures added in to make it try to seem original- well its not... harry potter is a funny, action, and edge of seat movie that keeps u wondering til the very end! go get it now!

Summary: Another great movie
Review: I'm very pleased with this movie. It sticks to the book very well. The special features aren't that exciting, but the movie is so good, I don't even care.
