Summary: The First Star Wars on DVD
Review: Star Wars fans rejoice, the first DVD in the series has finally been released after a traditional Lucasfilm wait. First off let me say that you have not seen Star Wars until you have experienced this DVD. I have all the currently released VHS Star Wars video's and I always recognized a grainy, blurry quality to the original trilogy as well as Episode One, now the video is crystal clear. Even on my computer's DVD player (which is theoretically lower quality than a hardware player), the picture is like the movie theater, but twice as clear. Also adding to the theater effect is one of the first DVD's that includes the Dolby Surround 5.1 EX soundtrack to it. This makes itself present in the Podrace and the last battles between the Gungans and TF, as well as the lightsaber battle. One of the main reasons I bought this was because of the deleated scenes. Lucasfilm even added about 3 min. of bonus footage to the final version, including some really excellent additions to the Podrace. The other behind the scenes featurettes on the 2nd disc are amazing. The main behind the scene feature is about 1hr long! I bought this a week ago and I still have not seen all the bonus features. Never have I seen a DVD so well crafted. Another feature that should be mentioned is that with this DVD, you can see Star Wars: Episode Two trailers exclusivley, before they are released to the theaters if you have a DVD-ROM and internet access. This DVD is not only a required part of a Star War's fan collection, it should be included in any DVD owners collection.

Summary: Quite Bad, actually...
Review: Star Wars fans waited 16 years for this film, but unfortunately it was not worth the wait. The old Star Wars films were by no means masterpieces of modern cinema, but they were still fairly good and very entertaining. This film, however, is just plain bad. The story is boring and the characters are for the most part weak and one-dimensional (I'll not even begin to discuss Jar Jar Binks). Furthermore, the script is perhaps one of the worst ever written for a major blockbuster. It has been said that the purpose of this film was to set up episodes 2 & 3, but that does not justify making something this poor.

Summary: This DVD sets the standard
Review: Star Wars fans will want this DVD to keep the story handy, but DVD afficionados, action/adventure fans and sci-fi fans will find a lot of value here as well. There are 2 DVDs, the first one is the movie proper which has an option for a separate audio track of commentary from George Lucas and others; this is a great insight into the challenges and ideas that are behind-the-scenese. Disc 2 is a vast cornucopia of extras: documentaries, deleted scenes, and featurettes. The amount of extras is impressive and the details you will learn about in terms of making the movie, the rules that were broken and techniques defined by Lucasfilm, rounds out the purchase so well that almost all other DVD releases at this time pale in comparision.
I have now come to expect much more from other releases and have been pleased only with a few others, such as Episode II's DVD and Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings DVD. I hope that other movies will receive the detailed treatment that this one does!

Review: Star Wars fans, what are you waiting for? Grab this DVD!! This DVD set contains 2 discs with fully loaded bonus features. Never mind about the irritating Jar Jar Binks, should we even bother about him at all?? Guys, with Episode II - Attack of the Clones now showing in the theatres, isn't it the best time to start collecting the DVD trilogy set (I, II, III (in 2005))?

Summary: Everything it is supposed to be
Review: Star Wars has never taken itself too seriously. These movies were made to be fun. And fun they are. Overall, there are better films to see. But when it comes to fun, when it comes to the whole atmosphere and universe of Star Wars, nothing can beat it. Its not hard SciFi by any means.. but it is certainly entertainment at its absolute finest.

Summary: What We Have All Been Waiting For
Review: Star Wars I was the next Star Wars movie we have all been waiting for. It is the perfect beginning to a legend that we will never forget. We are introduced to Annakin Skywalker, the young Darth Vador, and Obi Wan Kenobie, as well as some new characters like Jar Jar Binks. It is an action packed thriller with cool fight scenes, cool characters, and great acting. This is a must see for anyone who vaguely likes the Star Wars films.

Summary: Star Wars Episode I--Continuing the Genious!
Review: Star Wars is a great movie, filled with great action and special effects, but there was always something missing... That void is now filled with Star Wars Episode I... Important questions like, who was Darth Vader before he turned to the dark side, and where did the story begin, are answered in great detail in this prelude to the original series. None of the technical marvels of the original has been compensated either. Lucas has done a great job of including lots of action, adventure, special effects, and animation... The new character JarJar is hillarious, I laughed at him the entire time. His humor, however, does not overpower the overall action of this movie. If you are a Star Wars fan, then this is definitely the movie for you! I got this movie last Christmas, and have seen it many times over since then. This movie will answer your questions, while continuing to amaze you with Lucas's continued creativity and genious!

Summary: The Phantom Story
Review: Star Wars is back! The movie looks and feels great. The special effects are amazing and should really be seen in a movie theater. In particular, the sound effects were incredible. Laser beams are shot behind us and to our sides, as spaceships fly by in space. Again, it all looks great, but what about a good story? The story found here failed to live up to expectations. Worse, the story failed on its own, even without the Star Wars reputation to uphold. Indeed, if this wasn't part of the Star Wars series, or it really was the first movie made in this series, I doubt there would be a second or third movie made. This film may be enjoyable for kids under 10 [....] But, for everyone else, don't bother. Go see the Matrix or Starship Troopers instead. What? How can you say this about a Star Wars film? Let me explain. First, a small child, seven or eight, saves everyone twice. In one instance there is a battle scene where skilled veterans are being destroyed yet this little kid can fly a space craft there and, eventually, save the day. Doesn't say much for the other pilots does it? Yes, that child is young Darth Vader but, so what. He still is only a boy. Or is he? His mother made some statements suggesting that young Vader may be something more. The mother is also a virgin? Barring a religious expectation, how is that possible? If he was made in a laboratory. Indeed, the Jedi in this book take some of his blood to determine his potential as a Jedi. Boo. Is this the real magic of the force, genetic engineering? From here, it only gets worse. The main new character, Jar-Jar, is designed for five year olds. He doesn't look real, more like a bad plastic toy and he is really annoying. The Queen, is bland, boring, but, of course, "democratically elected." The battle scenes are, for the most part, robot v. robot. So, who really cares who wins or loses? There were some good parts to this story. I liked the fights between the Jedi Knights. They looked nice and were well choreographed. The special effects were good. And the potential for the next film is there. Personally, I have to reluctantly recommend against viewing this film. If you have a five year old, okay, let them watch it. Otherwise, this movie wasn't fun. It just wasn't worth watching.

Review: Star Wars is back. There is a new hope for Star Wars. Lucas Film has finally decided to release this is DVD. Though a somewhat disapointing story Lucas go's back to what works, an epic story about how Anakin became Darth. One main problem with this is that rotten... idiot Sir Jar Jar Binks. I hope he dies. Well its less than a year now to Episode 2. If you are a Star Wars fan this is a must own.
