Summary: This is how to make a DVD rock!
Review: How can you beat a DVD that features the commentary of Adam West and Burt Ward? The color is pristine, from the opening 60's title sequence to the end credits. Nelson Riddle does true justice to Neil Hefti's addictive score, and the plot is still beautifully absurd and naive. Leonard Maltin's review proves once again that he wouldn't know comic genius if it hit him in the face with a cream pie.

The menus and features on the DVD are true to the series, with BIFF! POW! and ZAP! punctuating every menu choice. Hats off to the DVD programmers of this great product. I hope 20th Century Fox releases BATMAN episode collections of this quality.

Summary: Finally the release of the REAL Batman movie
Review: I am glad Fox has finally released the Batman movie on DVD. Now if they would only release the TV series. This DVD is AWESOME. It is wide screen only and the picture is stunning. The best I have ever seen it. The tour of the Batmobile is outstanding. The only problem I have with the DVD is the Adam West and Burt Ward commentary. From the options screen, you have an option to watch the full length movie with Adam West and Burt Ward commenting and giving "Bat-Facts" regarding the movie and the making of it.(In a way it is much like watching Batman on Mystery Science Theater. While telling many interesting facts about the production of the movie West and Ward also poke fun of the movie in parts. And Adam and Burt, if you are reading this, that dissapointed me that you would do so) But, once you choose this option, the only way I could get to watch the movie with out the West and Ward commentary was to eject the DVD and put it back in and start it over. I could not get the DVD to switch from the commentary version to the original version any other way. Other than that, no complaints here. An awesome addition to my DVD collection. Now, lets all persuade Fox to release the Batman TV series!!!!!!

Summary: Holy DVD Batman
Review: I grew up loving this series. Now, I enjoy it even more for it's humor and camp. This film was meant to launch the series, but actually debuted after the first season of Batman. The DVD edition is stunning in it's clarity with an excellent anamorphic transfer - and a lot of fun was had in making it. Adam West and Burt Ward make an excellent commentary poking fun at themselves. Easily, the commentary is as entertaining as the film itself! Bamf!

Summary: Pretty good bang for the buck
Review: 20th Century Fox did an excellent job with this DVD: terrific picture and sound, vibrant color, great commentary with West and Ward plus other extras. You already know of the truly exceptional cast from the other reviews here. Experience the fun of the 1960s before things got weird.

Summary: "Some Days You Just Can't Get Rid of a Bomb!"
Review: In spite of my title, this movie is no bomb and has been on my most wanted DVD title list for a long time. I am being quite serious when I say this is the best Batman movie ever made. Not because I so love the early Batman over the newer darker version. But the Dark Night everyone hoped for to usurp this camp version of Batman never materialized or was never fully realized. Batman the movie on the other hand is the perfect realization of the original TV series brought to screen. Almost all the best versions of the villains are up on the big screen. Frank Gorshin as the Riddler, Ceasar Romero as the Joker, Burgess Merideth as the Penguin and all their ridiculous henchmen plot in their sloped hideouts their plan to remove all the water from the bodies of members of the United Nations. Lee Meriwether never played Catwoman in the original show but looking exceptionally slinky makes for a very respectable substitute. Its just as well as I would have had to watch the movie with my tongue spilled all over the floor if Julie Newmar reprised her role. Batman (Adam West) is fraught with painfully repressed sexual tension as he tries to maintain Batmanic dignity in the presence of socialite Miss. Kitka (alias catwoman)and protect her honor from encroaching evil doers. As a kid I watched the show with my best buddy braving snow and rain to watch it in color. But it wasn't 'til I grew up and was in my late twenties that I discovered the humor in the show was made for adults and was just twice as hilarious as I remember it. Whether its watching the Caped Crusader remove a shark who has swallowed the entirity of the Boy Wonders leg, to watching him miraculously survive the explosion of a roomfull of dynamite armed only with a aerosol can of anti-explosion protectant, the film remains side-splittingly funny while retaining a fairly engaging plot. Whether you purchase this movie or catch it on the tube, don't underestimate the power of this Batman to entertain.

Summary: Some people just don't get it....
Review: A lot of people just didn't get Batman then and even more don't today. Some just refuse to. Batman works on many levels. To children, Batman and Robin show what true superheros should be, true to their hearts, and their country and pure of thought and deed at all times. To adults, you just have to sit there and laugh at the pure rediculousness of it all. People that think Batman was done to be a pure serious show don't get it at all. The whole thing is a joke, but it also isn't. If you look at it the right way, it's just as fun for adults as it is for kids. This show is the definition of the word "Camp" and it shows it better than anything else before or since. The fact that the two stars play this movie straight faced is a miracle in and of itself. Give this show a try and ignore anyone who tells you that this isn't worth your time. Batman is a wonderful show! The reason that I gave this movie 4 stars is that it isn't the best of the original Batman shows. Just the most expensive. =) I just hope that someone has the forethought to re-release the series on DVD as well. Sign me up! The restoration and the special features are great too!

P.S. I also bought this movie already, so I have to wonder about them saying that it isn't out yet. Who knows? Maybe they finished it quicker than they thought they would.

Summary: Would Someone Please Get This Shark Off My Leg!!!
Review: The scene with the obviously-rubber shark is a true delight!! It's a good thing the bat-copter is well-stocked with "shark repellent"! This whole film is great fun to watch. And we get all those villains descending on us at once! Holy Crime Wave! ..... Best line (by Batman, as he tries desperately to dispose of a live timebomb): "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"

Summary: Previewed the DVD
Review: I received a special preview edition of this DVD and my hat goes off to Fox. They did a very nice job converting this movie to digital format. It looks very clean.

The movie itself features all the fun and camp of the 60's Batman television series. The movie is filled with double entendre humor so you can enjoy it with your kids. They'll love all the BOP! BAM! POW! action while you'll get a kick out of all the 60's celebrity appearances and inside jokes.

This is Batman before he was the "Dark Knight Detective" that evolved over the years. Kooky villains, outlandish costumes and dubious schemes abound!

One of my favorite things about this DVD are the extra features, particularly the tour and history of the Batmobile, a converted Lincoln Futura by Barris Custom, a Hollywood automotive custom house. Very cool!

If you love super heroes, campy humor and fun family entertainment, this DVD's for you!

Summary: MARVELLOUS FUN!!!!
Review: Adam West and Burt Ward star in this extremely entertaining family film, based on the hit 60's tv series. In addition to a godd plot, it also has excellent performances from the entire cast9whish is from the tv show). Cesare Romero is hilarious as the Joker, Frank Gorshin is equally funny as the Riddler, Burgess Merideth is great as the cackling Penguin, and Lee Meriwether is sexy as Catwoman. This team of villains plan to control the world through use of a lethal new weapon. So, battling their way through hoardes of thugs, traps, and exploding sea creatures, Batman and Robin must stop them. West is sincere and entertaining as both Batman and Bruce Wayne, as is Burt Ward(Robin). This is great fun for the whole family, so ENJOY!
