Summary: The Passage to Manhood
Review: My husband and 4 brothers belive this movie is the right to passage of manhood. Before any of our kids can start hunting, they must watch this movie at least a dozen times! I must admit I like it too. It seems to bond them closer each time they watch it. I found it interesting that Ohio was one of the top places for this video as that is where we are from. I did find it interesting that Idaho was not on there as we lived there and some of those residents could pass as ancestors of Jeremiah Johnson!

Summary: Talk about getting away from it all
Review: Who hasn't ever dreamed of just packing the necessities and escaping to the mountains and live off the land? There's a little Jerimiah Johnson and everyone and Redford never seems out of character in his role as the ultimate mountain man. Filmed in Utah, the scenery is beautiful and even though the DVD isn't the best, the film has held up pretty good over 28 years. If you like to listen to tales of the West being settled and how the West was one, this is one you must see.

Summary: soul searching
Review: The combination of Pollack and Redford created one of the most spectacular movies ever. You'll want to watch this movie over and over for all the nuances. Heart-rending and touching, the story will take you to another place and help you forget the hustle and bustle of modern life. This wide screen version is the only way to go...

Summary: The man in your life will love it!
Review: Of course it's an excellent movie for anyone, and who can resist Robert Redford. However, guys really love it because it's such a "manly" film. So if you'e looking for a gift for your father/brother/significant other, you can't go wrong with this one!

Summary: This DVD is unbelievable
Review: This was one of the first movies I bought for my DVD. I still can't believe the clarity this has compared to the original. I used to always watch this when it was on T.V., but it was like watching a filmstrip. Watching this on DVD is like seeing it for the first time again. The features it has also are awesome. A must have for everybody.

Summary: Outstanding story and lesson...
Review: This is an outstanding story of a man who goes into the mountains expecting one thing and getting another. The main character is looking to get away from something in civilisation and thinks the mountains will be different, and make him different...the movie is, in a way, the story of the price getting what you want.

Two scenes typify the movie for me, both are at the end...after Johnson has survived loss and trials that would have killed most men. The old mountain man who taught Johnson when he was new to the mountains asks him, "Were it worth the trouble?" and Johnson answers "What trouble?"

After an one of many indian attacks on Johnson, one of his freinds, Del Gewe, suggests he get out of the mountains and go down to a town, He replies "I've been to a town, Del."

He wanted to be a maountain man and he became one, "but story don't always go the way you have in mind."
